Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 pt 1

"Watch out!!" I yell on the top of my lungs as I lunge for my twin brother, so he doesn't get hurt from the explosion of one of my experiments that went wrong as I push my brother down with me covering his brown shaggy hair with my hand with my face down covering him. As the debris comes down from the smoke, my eyes wander around, seeing if it's safe. "Jamie- are you alright?" I ask, concerned. He looked up at me with a scowl and punched my shoulder. "Ow! What was that for!?" I hold my shoulder rubbing off the pain as he angrily huffs at me.

"You know exactly what you did, Jason." he turns on his heel and exits our home. I get up from the now dusty hard wooden Mahogany floors. The room seems not to be out of place; the gray furniture was still up against the wall; the picture frames are now almost ready to fall onto the floor. I head in the direction of one of the hanging pictures. It was a picture of our parents when we were around ten, about ten to thirteen years ago. The thought of our parents doesn't make me happy- I keep the panting there for Jamie; he misses them even though they hurt us. I fix the panting, and I slowly to the next one, and it's of Jamie, and I am sitting together holding flowers looking at the painter. I find the broom and tidy up the place with a sigh, so it's not as dusty and dirty. Once I finished, and cleaned up the machine and went to find my brother. Once in town, I hear whispers about some stranger.

"Jamie can't wear anything normal, can he?" I huff. Wait, he's not wearing his dress that he goes into town with. I must have made him so angry that he left without it. " Jamie! I'm sorry-" As I jog up to him, he looks towards me and huffs again. "Jamie, what will it take for you to accept my apology?" I almost put my hand on his shoulder but decided against it.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe don't wash my clothes with yours? My-" He stops himself and gets closer to him, and whispered in his ear. "My dress is now too small for me, so know I have to wear these clothes when I go out, and everyone thinks I'm someone else!" He glares at him drilling holes into my soul as he heads to the library to read some books. I sigh, relieved that he wasn't mad at my invention blowing up. But even so, now he can't express himself as he wants because I shrunk his dress. I bet if I could make him or buy him a new one, he might not be angry with me anymore! I should go shopping for some fabric; his style shouldn't be too hard to replicate. It's an effortless design, a long-sleeved dress with intricate designs around the edges. The sleeves, on the other hand, are long and bell-like. I head towards the shopping district of our little town, Viervil Pine springs, where we mostly have pine forests and open fields, our little area where the houses and shops are pretty small compared to other cities and towns. The shop I was headed to happened to be on the other side of the town; it had large windows to show off different fabrics and outfits. The roof looked to be made of wooden planks in a cone-shaped look. The door was white with a small window in the center top of it. I pushed the door open, and a little bell rang to notify my entrance.

"Hello? I'm here to look for some fabric to make a dress?" as I looked through the shop, neatly laid fabric laid on the tables in the middle of the floor. The already made dresses were on a clothes rack on both ends of the store, and near the right of the store, there were a few sowing stations to work on whatever you wanted with the many fabrics laid out. And however much fabric you left off will determine if you have to pay for all the fabric or not. So it's best to be careful and mindful of how much fabric you use as I look through the fabric, my mind wonders about what to get for my twin brother.

"Oh! Hello dearie, what are you looking for?" A lady dressed in a gorgeous mesh of blues and purple walks up to me with a smile. I look at her trying to process what she said as I was lost in my thoughts.

"huh?" I said, not really paying attention to her question. She heaves a sigh and asks me again.

"Hello, how may I help you?" she asks, eyeing my figure. I quickly look away, and my eyes land on a blue fabric with subtle darker strips embedded into the fabric.

I stutter out something with fabric and dress. She nods her head as if she understood. Then, as if she was looking at the same fabric, she grabbed it, headed to the sowing station, and got me the materials to make the outfit I plan to make for my brother.

"How much fabric will you need, dear?" she asks polity.

"Umm. I'm not sure, madam. I want to work where no one could see me?" I hope she understands. I really can't be seen making a dress to what seems to look like I'm making it for me. I don't need to be called any weird names since all my experiments seem to keep exploding...

"Well, in that case, follow me, and I'll leave all the fabric that you need. If you need another fabric, please make your selections as you please." She says soothingly and leads down to a basement area where more sowing machines are, but they seem to have a curtain so you can work in peace.

"Thank you, ma'am," I say as I slightly bow to her. She nods her head and leaves the room. I let out a sigh that I didn't know I was holding and made my way to one of the stations, and started to get the base of the dress started.
