As time passes, I'm getting the final detail on the dress for my brother. Finally, I get up and yawn with a stretch. Once done, I get up to leave my unfinished work to grab a bite in town. I heave my body up the stairs and stumble when I get off the stairs, and the nice lady that I had acquainted myself with is Ms. Crystal; she's a sweet lady that has helped me on my dress journey. I had lied and said it was for my girlfriend, which is mean, but I don't need her thinking that I make my brother wear dresses to have a little sister instead of a brother. I groan outwardly and slump my shoulders. "I'll just have to live my whole life as a lie-? Gah! Jamie, you sure don't make my life easy. Brat of a twin he is." I look around to make sure no one heard me, and as I think I'm safe, Crystal pops out of nowhere, and I scream. "Yo! No need to scare me like that, Ms. Crystal!" I say loudly as I put my hands on my chest.
"Sorry, Jason. I didn't mean to scare you. Is it time for lunch already?" She says sweetly. I nodded my head yes and told her I'm heading to the bakery not too far from here. I swear she's one of the nicest old ladies I've ever met. But she sure knows how to sneak up on a person. As I exit the white door, I'm immediately met with the Doorly twins. Jackson and Nagiem Doorly, the twins that won't stop bugging Jamie and me about getting married and having children with them. Jackson, fairly taller than me by a few inches with scruffy blond hair and a chiseled jawline almost every man wants. I personally don't. Anyway, he's decently built since he goes hunting for our food supplies, and he hunts game for fun on the side. However, I see no attraction to this man as his attitude doesn't match his looks for his twin sister, who is roughly the same height as Ms. Crystal, five feet and two in half inches. Ms. Nagiem Doorly is beautiful with her long blond hair in a half-up, half-down look, making her elf ears look decent. Her green dress is simple, with a few gold accessories here and there.
"Hey, Outcast! What are you doing here? Making a dress for yourself since your such a girl?" He laughs in my face, and I look at him unbothered. A sigh escapes my lips.
"Actually, I am. I'm making a dress for my sweetheart. And she'll very much enjoy the dress I'll make her." I say, sticking my chest out confidently.
"Well, I hope this time you don't actually blow this one up as well, you Imbecile." He says as he pushes me back into the door, making a loud thud. When he keeps throwing more insults at me as I regularly tune him out, I hear footsteps getting closer to us, and I hear a grunt and a scream.
"Damn, nerd! Why do you have to keep getting yourself into trouble with those two!?" A Strong, assertive voice says. I don't really look at him as I know immediately who the voice belongs to. My brother, Jamie. As I look up at him, his shaggy brown hair is wavy, and his complexion is similar to mine, a strong jawline, but soft; he's wearing a white shirt with a brown vest. His pants are baggy light brown color with a large belt hanging off his hip. "And why were you even in the boutique and sewing shop!? Are you trying to get yourself even more disliked!?" He keeps rambling on and on about how good of a brother he is for keeping me out of trouble. I can't stand it when he does this, and I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm just living my life here in Vierville, but it seems I should just move. I want to move to the next country over, Oracal Moon; it has a few cities for inventors like me, but it mostly has farmland and open fields, perfect space to try my inventions!
"And so-" he pauses and looks at me. "Jason, are you even listening!? I'm trying to help you, so you don't look like an idiot!" He huffs and lets go of my arm and heads into our humble abode. I stare at it for a bit, then look down at the gravel pathway and picks out all the colors of grays and browns before moving into our home, looking for something to eat. As I open our cherry red door with a little window in the center near the top, I almost trip over our indoor welcome rug, made by a rug specialist in the next town over, Starwell, such a beautiful place. It has some of the best shops that we don't have here in Vierville. Anyway, I could go on and on about Starwell, since It has a bigger town than ours.
"Home," I whisper to myself as I walk through our cozy living room filled with grey furniture and a bright red rug, also from Starwell. I walk into the kitchen, not looking at anything, just the ugly white icebox where we keep cold drinks and all that. I can't wait to invent something cooler, maybe call it fridgy! I open the icebox and light blue magic spills out of it. I have to be quick before all the magic I used goes away. I quickly grab a cup of water that I left the other day so it could get cold and then grabbed some meat from Jackson's hunt from a few days ago to the counter. And I started cutting it up the way Jamie likes it and then I start making myself a sandwich.
"Yo, Dork." My brother says as he enters the kitchen and leans on the counter next to me. "Guess what I heard in town." He smiles cheekily.
"What?" I say not really caring for town gossip.
"No, you gotta guess!" he says exasperated. I give him a look and roll my eyes and they land back on my sandwich. Which I can't wait to dig my face in.
"Uh, toco beans?" I say not really trying to guess as I shove the sandwich into my mouth and the mouthwatering smoked meat I cooked yesterday tasted so yummy at the moment.
"Toco...beans? Come on! I'm serious this is big news!" He smiles and pats my back gently as I try to chew and swallow the bite I took and then I look at him and say.
"Uh, we're getting new mayors?" I look away with a confused expression and takes another bite.
"Uhm..No but good guess! It's actually our parents!" He says excitedly. I spit out the food I had in my mouth and look at him mouth agape.
