Aki was laying on the floor, sobbing; Rivin was sitting next to her, attempting and failing to comfort her. She had been so excited to finally find her soulmate, but now that she knew who it was, she was heartbroken.
Just then, there was a loud banging at the door. Someone screamed, " open up, police! "
Rivin told Aki to stay there and he went and open the door. He answered it and talk to them for a minute. " Oh God," Rivin thought, "that douchebag turned her in for breaking her pendant."
Rivin told Aki to stay quiet, he got up and went to the door. The police claimed that they only wanted to talk to her for a minute, so Rivin promised that he would go get her when in reality, he told her to run. She took off running and climbed out the window. She landed in the grass, with a silent stud. She took off in a sprint towards the woods.
Rivin made a show of running through the house, calling for Aki, to make it seem like he thought she was still in the house. After about two minutes, Rivin ran back to the front door and screamed that he couldn't find her.
The police pushed past him and ran into the house. They spread out and begin searching for her. Little did they know, the longer they searched the house, the bigger head start they were giving Aki. When the police came back downstairs, Rivin was nowhere in sight. The second the police were out of sight, upstairs, he took off out the front door after Aki.
After about an hour, Rivin came to their secret place. Aki was already there, Rivib was so glad she made it there safely. They needed a plan to get out of lavatera without getting caught by the police. If they were caught, they would both be put to death, breaking your pendant was considered a federal offense and was punishable by death. If someone helps a fugitive, they will be put to death also, so, getting caught was not an option.
The first thing they did was sneak through the woods until they got to Catriona's house. They knock on the back door, and she answered soon after. They explain the situation to her, and she automatically agreed to help them. She knew what happened to people who helped the fugitive, but she didn't care. This is her chance to show Rivin and how much she loved him, not only was she going to help them, she was going with them and she wouldn't take no for an answer.
She provided them with clothes, she gave Rivin some of her brother's clothes, then she packed three small backpacks with food, then hid some weapons in her clothes as the twins did the same. They weren't bringing any weapons that were too big, just a dagger or two, one hidden in a boot and another in a sheath, strapped on a belt, and one small handheld gun apiece.
Then they sat down and tried to figure out where they were going to go. Eventually, they decided to go to Catriona's birthplace, Oken land. All three of them spoke Spanish so there was no need for a translator. They waited till dark, and then, under the cover of night fault, they snuck out. They also needed to find a way to get the people of lavatera to open their eyes and realize what the government was doing, without getting caught. If they were caught, it was curtains for them.
They walked and walked for days. Rivin and Catriona eventually confessed their feelings for each other, they were now so much happier. Even though she doesn't let it show, Aki feels guilty. She feels like she ruined Rivin and Catriona's lives because she was too stubborn to stay with Dante. Was these past few days all her fault? Catriona seemed to sense that Aki was upset so she asked Rivin to scout up ahead for a few miles. He said all right, and continue on ahead, giving catriona the perfect chance to talk to Aki.
"Hey, Aki.... Can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Umm... Sure... What's on your mind?"
"I want you to tell me what's been bothering you these past few days. You've been quiet and kind of spacey lately. So, tell me, what's wrong?"
" Uhh... I... It's nothing. "
"Aki-"
"NO!" She yelled and took off in the direction that Rivin went.
"Aki, wait!" Catriona called, but it was too late. Aki was gone, so Catriona ran after her, hoping that there wasn't anyone else close by that could have heard her and Aki yelling.
Catriona ran as fast as she could, trying to catch Aki before she attracted the attention of someone that could get all three of them caught. It wasn't working very well. Catriona never knew that Aki run so fast, and sure enough, after just a few minutes, she lost sight of Aki.
Meanwhile, Rivin was wandering aimlessly around the woods, lost. He could have sworn that the way back to the girls was this way, but he had walked and walked and walked and he isn't seeing anything even remotely familiar. Suddenly, he heard something, footsteps, coming his way. Rivin immediately crouched behind a bush and waited to see who it was. He picked up a stick and was prepared to knock out, or at least swing at, whoever came out of the brush. Then the person crashed through, rather than swinging the stick, he jumped up, drop the stick, and hurried over towards them, for the noisemaker was Aki.
" Sshh! Aki don't be so loud! You're going to get us cau-... " Rivin stop, mid-sentence. Aki's face was red, puffy, and covered with mascara streaks. Aki sniffed and wipe the hand over her swollen face, to get rid of the tears, but only ended up smearing mascara more, making it worse.
"What's wrong? What happened? "Rivin asked, but Aki wouldn't answer, she just stood there staring at the ground and scuffing her boot against the wet leaves. After asking repeatedly, and not getting an answer, Rivin gave up trying to figure out why she was crying. Catriona showed up a few minutes after Aki did, but and she wouldn't answer Rivin's questions either.
2 days later, these three were smart, every night they would take turns keeping watch while the other two slept. This way, no one could sneak up on them and turn them in. So far, there is a $3,000 bounty on their heads. It's catriona's turn to be on watch right now and she is happy that her shift is almost over because she is so close to falling asleep. Each shift is about 3 hours long and each person gets a total of 6 hours of sleep, so none of them are too tired come morning. It's around 3 a.m. and catriona is in the process of climbing out of the tree that she spent her three hour shifts sitting in, when she suddenly stops.
"What's that sound?" she thought.
Crunch, crunch, crunch...
"Someone is out here..." Catriona says to herself.
she looks to her right, Rivin and Aki are laying on the ground asleep, so she knows it wasn't either of them. She quickly and silently creeps over to the twins and wakes them up.
"Guys, wake up right now! It's an emergency!" She whispers urgently.
"Cat, what's going on?" Rivin inquires.
"I heard someone walking around and they are really close by."
"Oh God!" Aki squeaks.
all three of them get up, and quietly listen for footsteps. After a couple seconds, they hear it. They can tell by the sound that it's a person and not an animal. Out of nowhere, it starts to rain. They immediately hurry off in the opposite direction, looking for some place that they can hide, at least for a couple hours.
they walked for about 10 minutes and eventually came across an old abandoned building. It was perfect. Rivin went ahead of the girls a little way and made sure the coast was clear before signaling for them to follow up. Much to their surprise, the front door of the building was locked. without missing a beat, they headed to run to the back of the building. This time the door was unlocked.
"Stupid people." Aki murmured.
Rivin chuckled, it was so very smart to walk the front door, but not the back. They made themselves at home and started exploring the house. It was a two-story house, filled with spiders, mice, and rats but they didn't care. Anywhere was better than sleeping outside in the rain. So, who cares?
they were only going to stay for a couple of hours, at least until the rain stops. They searched the kitchen, but to no avail, there was no food whatsoever. They searched all the other rooms and found a dagger, a hunting knife, and a butcher knife. They each took one. There wasn't anything else in that house that was used for, so they went back down to the main floor and sat down in the living room.
the furniture was clean, because there were tarps over everything. Rivin and catriona snuggle up together on the couch while Aki curls up in a large reading chair. They conversed quietly with each other for a while, but all three of them eventually fell asleep. They woke the next morning and set off. In about two weeks, they should arrive in Oaken land.
In Oaken land, they would gather people to join in their rebellion, then, they would all come back to lavatera and officially start the rebellion. They had a goal to get at least 5,000 people on their side before they go back. They know that there is an exceptionally large possibility that this could turn into a war, but they don't really care at this point. Something needs to be done about the lavaterrian government and maybe, just maybe, a rebellion will help. They know the rebellion will not fix it completely, but it's worth a try.
two weeks later, and oaken land. Rivin, Aki, and catriona have finally arrived in Oakland. They found a place to stay, with a man of about 21 and his wife. In oaken land, people pick they want to marry, they get to choose who they love. Rivin explained their situation and what they plan to do. He told them about their plan to rebel, and the man and his wife both agreed to help.
One month later, the man, Athos Sears, and his wife, Blanca Sears, have been extremely helpful and getting people to join in the rebellion. There was now about 3,000 people who are involved. None of them had any idea at all the lavaterrian in government was taking away the lavaterrian's rights. It made them furious, they believe that being able to pick who you want to spend your life with should be a natural human right.
Catriona and the twins really hope to get another two thousand people in the rebellion before they go back to lavatera. They're determined to win this, all three of them made a blood oath that they would win, and bring the lavaterrian in government to justice or die trying.
