Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

They did it; They had escaped. If it hadnt been for Aki and Dante, their escape wouldnt have been possible. After running for a couple hours, they finally made it to the place where Aki told them to go. They waited there for about twenty minutes then finally Aki showed up. As soon as she got there, she asked what exactly happened to Catriona. Rivin explained it to her, but no one could have guessed her reaction. She was furious.

She had already turned and was running back towards the base. She said she was going to kill all of them except for the guard that whipped Catriona; she was going to strap him onto the rack. The same torture weapon they used on captured fighters. She said that she was going to record the sounds of his bones snapping, muscles and ligaments tearing, and his screams of agony while his body was being stretched beyond humanly possible. Then, she was going to carefully sever his vocal cords, so he couldnt scream. After that, she was going to slowly pry his eyes out of their sockets with a fork. And finally, while he was laying there, slowly dying, she was going to replay the video of his torture over and over again. So, the sounds of his body being ripped in half would be the last thing he heard. Sadistic, much?

Luckily, Leviathan caught up to her and stopped her. She tried to fight him off, but he was a lot stronger than her. If she hadnt gave up, they wouldve been forced to tie her up. They almost did, but she finally promised that she wouldnt. Its a good thing too, she wouldve just ended up getting herself killed. Once Aki had calmed down, she immediately began tending to Catrionas wounds. If they dont get her to a doctor soon, those gashes will get infected. Because they are so deep, it could be extremely dangerous if they get infected. She would be highly likely to die.

Two weeks later, they have been wondering around for two weeks now, trying not to get caught. They have been searching for a doctor that will treat Catriona without turning them in. it wasnt going very well. Finally, they had an idea. The doctor back in Oaken Land. He wanted to join the rebellion, but he was too old to. He was the perfect person to help Catriona. He wouldnt turn them in, he would actually help them. And with that, they began making their way towards Oaken Land. It was going to be a very tough trip, but they were survivors. They would make it if it was the last thing they ever did; and for one of them, it just might be.

Two weeks later, it felt as if they had been walking for months, but in reality, it had only been two weeks. Catriona was progressively getting worse. Her wounds were infected, and she was so weak that she couldnt walk anymore. Rivin, Athos, and Leviathan were taking turns carrying her. They were all so worried that she wouldnt make it to Oaken Land. To make matters worse, Catriona is sick, and no one knows what she has. Shes puking her guts out, shes always tired, shes really moody, and she has to pee every few minutes; Shes miserable. They should be arriving in Oaken Land in about a week. They were doing their best to get Catriona there on time, but time was running out. She was getting weaker and weaker every day. She was staring to get hallucinations as well. If Catriona didnt see a doctor within a few days, she would die.

Eight days later, they finally arrived in Oaken Land. They went straight to the doctors office. Athos banged his fist against the door.

Doc? Open up! Its Athos, this is an emergency!

After a couple seconds, the door opened.

Athos? Whats all the ruckus about?

Leviathan? Athos whispered.

Leviathan stepped forward; Catriona was unconscious in his arms.

OH MY GOD! CATRIONA! He squeaked, Come in now!

Everyone quickly filed inside. Leviathan laid Catriona down on the table and stepped back. Leviathan went back to the others and started whispering to them, hoping she would be ok. The doctor had been in there with her for over two hours and none of the others had heard a peep from him. He had been as quiet as a mouse, and it was worrying everybody.

Rivin was off in a corner muttering to his self that she HAD to be ok. He said that he would never forgive himself if she didnt get better. The others were trying and failing to convince him that it wasnt his fault, but he wouldnt listen to reason. He was convinced that he was solely to blame for what happened to her. Suddenly, the doctor came back into the room, completely straight faced. It scared everybody. He stopped about five feet from them, paused, then a grin appeared across his face.

She will be fine. They both will.

Oh, thank go- wait what do you mean, they?" Rivin asked.

You didnt know? the doctor gasped.

Knowwhat?

Catriona is pregnant.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? Rivin squealed.

Hundred percent serious.

Oh my god. Wait how pregnant are we talking here?

I cant tell for sure, but I think around three months.

Rivin didnt say another word, he was speechless. He was going to be a father. It was an absolute miracle. It was a miracle that she was pregnant at all, and it was a miracle that she hadnt lost the baby. She was drinking like a fish about a month ago, she was beaten and whipped, then she got a huge infection in her wounds on her back. How is this baby still alive? No one will know.

C-can I go see her?

Of course, you can. Ive already told her about the baby.

Rivin didnt say anything else, he just hurried back to where Catriona was. The second he got there; she was sitting up in the bed with a big grin on her face. Rivin walked right up to her and kissed her. They immediately started talking baby names. After about twenty minutes, they had decided on one girl name and one boy. The girl name was, Delilah Ruth Belinkov; and the boy was, Koji James Belinkov.

They couldnt wait for the day when they would finally get to hold their baby in their arms for the very first time. For now, it was the only thing they were looking forward to; but they were also worried that the one day they were looking forward to the most, might not ever happen. That scared the crap out of them. All they could do now, was hope.
