Chapter 14

James Harvey ~

I woke up the following morning to the bright shiny rays of the sun. It was no more than an hour proceeding the break of dawn. I placed myself in order and headed straight for the training course where I expected the Black Moon pack to be.

There was no point wasting time.

If Cassius wanted us to go get him the league of phoenixes again after our previous attempts, it was best we do it while his patience was enduring. Then again, the vampyres were vulnerable by day due to the presence of sunlight so per chance we run into any, I would have another opportunity to redeem myself.

As expected when I arrived at the training course, the Black Moon pack were ready for their latest mission. With the skills that Cassius had shown me, I contacted him with a message that I and the lycans that he requested for, were in an organized state. As the forty of us approached the outer gates, a cloud with the pigmentation of black mist descended and when it had settled, the almighty Cassius could be seen.

"Let's get going. Shall we?" Cassius said opening a portal with his warlock abilities.

It was almost as if he could cast spells in his mind because I am pretty sure that those were the only words that came out of his mouth. No magical words, no nothing.

"The mission is simple. GET THE PHEONIXES! AND I WANT ALL OF THEM NO MATTER WHAT! CRUSH ANYTHING THAT STANDS IN YOUR WAY!" he added as he walked through the portal with firm steps.

After him, we all walked in from behind. The other side of the portal was leading to if my knowledge is accurate, "The Eastern Vampyre Coven". We were only about two meters away from its blue gate that happened to be shining with the aid of the radiant sun.

"Well! Well! Well!" exclaimed Cassius. "Would you look at what the catch threw in." he added before closing his eyes and after a few seconds opened them again. "Turns out the young king and the apparently, the resurrected queen found their way here."

"I don't see how that helps us to get those creatures." I heard the alpha of the pack say with a growl.

"It does! It does!" Cassius answered with a smile that appeared to be made on mischief and of course, evil. "Never mind the vampyres. As long as the sun is up, they are powerless outside those walls but that doesn't indicate that any of you shouldn't rip out their heads should they get in your way."

"The mission remains the same." He added before disappearing into the thin air.

"Alright lycans! By the time we get passed the gates, the vampyres would be weak to stop us. So get in, find the league of phoenixes and get them back to Cassius." I shouted to the hearing of them all.

By number, we were greatly outmatched with a ratio of three to a ten but by power, we had the upper hand. I've failed Cassius once, this time is going to be a whole different story.

I'm getting those phoenixes by hook or by crook.

Howling, we transformed into our lycanic nature directing ourselves straight to the gates. Hopefully, Cassius was right behind or before us but I know that wherever he is, around here, our victory is sure.

Cassius is unstoppable.

Ryan McFlame ~

"Ryan!!!" shouted one of my brothers yanking me out of the bed, away from something or someone I later presumed to be dangerous.

"What's the matter Jake?" "What's going on?" I asked pulling myself together.

"I asked the same question." Liam said in his vampyre form. "The coven is under a fourteen-hour total lockdown. As usual." He added as the windows and everything else capable of reflecting sunlight into the room came to a shielded form.

"Liam? What's going on?" "How in this world did they, follow us here?" I added when I saw a lycan running straight for the coven before the window's shield dropped down with a thud.

"Get prepared as soon as you can. Somehow, those beasts have made their way past the guardians and are heading straight for the coven gates." Liam said before walking out of the room leaving me and my brother clueless of what truly we were in for.

There's no way that this is a coincidence.

Those lycans aren't here for the vampyres.

They're here for us.

PHEONIXES, the last in existence.

Whoever wants us is so desperate that he/she is ready to get us even off the hands of the vampyric Eastern army. Right now, I have to be strong for my league. The presence of sunlight makes the vampyres' chances of survival infinitely low if ever they get exposed to it.

In other words, they would be marching straight for a slaughter if they intend on keeping us here.

The last time that we got engaged with those lycans, we barely got out with our bodies intact. If not for our supernatural healing, we were toast. This time, if what happened then repeats itself or even worse, the lycans come a lot prepared for us, I can't begin to imagine what horrors lie in wait for us.

"Gather your strength brothers. We're going to need all of it if we want to put those lycans in their places." I said to them as they gathered round me.

"Why do you sound like you have lost faith in our brotherhood? We all have survived 20 centuries together and we all shall survive 20 more!!!" said Rex with an assuring look in his eyes.

"Yeah! We are immortals anyways even to nature so who the hell do those lycans think they are to want to catch us for who knows what?" replied Paul with the same look in his eyes.

"Ryan. You've protected us when we all needed it the most. Now, it's our turn to do same!"
