Chapter 16

Alessia Claw ~

"How is that happening say more of possible?" Morgana asked ending the mirror spell. "Weren't the extinct ancestral warlocks and witches the only ones capable of making such portals at will? Even my magic can't make a portal such as that." she added with a grin on her face.

"Yes! That's a problem but right now, we have more to worry about and these lycans and the man whom I suspect to be their master are ranking the list." "Go and get Frederick! We have to sound the coven's alarm. Those lycans are going to be here anytime and I have a bad feeling that it's for the both of us." I added letting Morgana know that I meant those words.

Without another word, Morgana headed to Frederick's chambers while I went for Liam's. I got there and knocked on the doors of his chambers. With a stern face, he opened the door and invited me in. Since he was the commander-in-charge of the entire coven, the controls of everything had a duplicate in his chambers but the main controls were in the control room.

From the screens of the security system, I could see the forthcoming lycans.

"Cassius' men!" he said as he pushed a button thereby sounding the 'danger' alarm.

"It isn't just Cassius' men that are coming. They're not alone. Cassius is somewhere around here, too." I said.

"Just yesterday, he destroyed the Royal coven with his minions. There's no way that I'm letting him do the same here." "It might be day but there is no law or prophecy that says that we can't and won't win. Sunlight or no sunlight, like the lycans are racing here with speed, so would they return without an iota of vampyre blood on their hands." "The only blood they'll get to see would be theirs!" Liam replied firmly as he put on his suit of armor.

"Those phoenixes must have unintentionally led him here." "Who can say, he just might be using them as his pawns to get to us?" I alleged.

"I hope so Alessia. That would make slaying him a whole lot easier." Liam said taking up his silver sword and placing it into its sheath. "Ryan and his brothers are awake now. I told them to get themselves prepared as soon as they could and that those traitors of yours have made their way past the guardians and are heading straight for the gate." he added leading the way out of his chambers and sealed the doors behind him.

"Oh! Take one of these. It might surely come in handy." he said offering me a magical sword known as a lycan slayer.

The lycan slayers were swords forged with one of the most rare and most powerful elements of silver in existence brought into being during the dark era long before vampyres and lycans started to get along with one another. Besides the regular silver blade, the lycan slayer could disintegrate a lycan within a matter of seconds after contact with one.

"Those men out there aren't your people anymore, Alessia. Cassius has turned them into something worse." he said finally as he dashed down the hallway looking straight at me.

"They will always be my people but for the time being and the circumstances surrounding their king's death, they are not." I replied stopping in my tracks as I returned the sharp gaze.

Frederick Claw ~

Morgana called me from my morning stretches to inform me that lycans were nearly at the gates of this coven. I was shocked at the news but at the same time, I was pleased.

I let out a smile immediately after she told me.

The previous day, those same lycans and their master's evil request made me send away the love of my life, my mate out to some powerless world far away. They all coming back today to attack this coven like they did mine, gives me an opportunity to soothe my anger away with their blood by slicing every one of their necks off their bodies.

Not even their ranked leader, the so-called Cassius would be able to escape the wrath I plan on releasing on them all.

The only obstacle that I see is the fact that I can't fight them while they remain exposed to sunlight. The shields of the windows were down indicating that the day was breaking and that going out there would be nothing more than a suicidal wish. Together I suited up, picked up my sword and headed straight for the control room with Morgana by my side. Getting there, I saw Ryan, his brothers, Alessia and Liam amongst others present.

"They have reached the gates." Liam said. "…but they aren't trying to do anything."

"That's funny? They didn't come all this way to admire the gates or the vampyres metallic taste so why…." Ryan was barely done with his statement when we watched as an energy orb went straight for the gate and brought it crashing down.

The entire coven began to shake from the impact.

The moment the gates fell, the only thing to be heard in the perimeter proceeding the deafening silence was the howling of the lycans as they rushed into the coven.

"Defenses! Get ready!" shouted Liam and every vampyre with a blade stood aligned at the entrance to the control room.

Surprisingly, the lycans didn't make for the other rooms in the coven or the armed vampyres occupying and defending them. They went straight for us. It was almost like they knew exactly where we were and headed just there. As the lycans tried breaking down the door from their side, every being on the other side, of the control room where getting themselves ready to strike anything from that direction bearing a couple of eyes.

"Don't bother yourselves! I didn't come all this way for any of you. I came for a much bigger catch of the day." Cassius said after he had appeared from behind the phoenixes and held the neck of one making the others circle around him with fireballs on their palms.

"A piece of advice Ryan. Don't do that or anything foolish because if you do, your friend here, would be the only one you'll end up barbecuing seeing as his powers are…. let's just say at sleep." Cassius said with all seriousness in his words.

Nothing was more shocking than that.

The man or rather, the being who has been referred to as 'Lord Cassius' all these while was actually an old friend of mine from the human world. I brought him to this world some time ago.

Thomas Rein.

We have a history together some being pleasant and some, very not! That didn't matter now. What mattered was getting rid of his barbaric and unjust intentions.

"Nice to see you again, Fred! I must say, it has been a long while." Cassius said. "Oh! Yeah!" he added waving his left hand over the air and the doors came down to a flight of butterflies.

The fight was now on two grounds – between us and Cassius and at the same time, the lycans who were staring so harshly at us probably waiting for a signal to attack from Cassius.

"Like I said before, I didn't come all this way to kill you all. What I came for is simply this!" I heard Cassius say as he strangled the phoenix in his clutches and the powers and abilities of the phoenix drained and entered into him.

"Just so you know, Frederick. You can't win this fight even with all your bloodsucking fools. Just let me have the phoenix prince and the rest of his league and I give you my word, I won't cause harm to anyone of you….. AT LEAST, FOR NOW!" Cassius said as the Lycans stormed into the control room.

"Either way, I get what I came here for."

"NEVER!!!" I yelled freeing my sword from its prison and using my vampyric speed, I sliced of the head of a lycan.

"I expected no less!"
