Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

(y/n) P.O.V. 1st Person

I watched as the blonde boy tripped but landed safely at the end. "Woah!!" Jamil shouted, seeming to have enjoyed the entertainment. I couldn't help but sigh in relief, a smile crawling up on my face as the boy cheered at his survival. I didn't want another death on my conscience after all. Because the Master didn't take fault: we did.

Morgin turned to face me as a slight chuckle escaped my lips. As if there was something on my face or something wrong with me. For a moment, I seemed to have forgotten the life I lived. His cold red orbs sent me back into reality. My face softened, a pout, before becoming stiff in an emotionless expression. It was as I settled into that scowl that a door opened up underneath the odd boy. And he fell, to what I was certain would be his death.

"Pity... I liked him…" Jamil commented, but I knew he was joking. To him, this was nothing. "Oh well! Who's next?" As I thought, he's back to his usual self. "Morgin?" He eyed the boy down with a cold, green glare.

Morgin stepped forward, taking a whiff of the air as he observed the scene. He took off into the trap, his body seeming to dance as he dodged each and every one before gracefully landing at the end. This time with no opening door.

We were all impressed. I could see the way Jamil gawked at him, speechless. Next Goltas stepped forward, what spikes came for him he grabbed before they hit him. His strength was indeed useful, but he struggled to fit between the bars.

Then it was my turn. Having seen them all do it, I was confident, but I couldn't stop trembling. At least inside I was nervous, outwardly I just appeared numb. A part of me hoped one might take me away from this life, but a fear of death still contained me. I managed to dodge them all and nearly collapsed at the end. Morgin caught me, helping me stand as I grasped onto Goltas's arm. We stared at our Lord, awaiting his command.

Carefully, Jamil stepped through. Seemed the trap had run its course and was all done. Either that or none of them dared to touch him. He reached the end, calmly and completely composed. "You miss me," he joked, pulling out the small bag of corn to give each of us a bit. I felt a tight pain in my chest. A part of me really wished he might've died back there, but it slowly relieved itself as he wrapped his arms around me. Giving me a tight squeeze as he let out a sigh, relieving what worries he had moments before.

Keeping one arm around me, we headed on. This time Morgin took the lead holding out the lantern. "Morgin, How did you avoid all those holes? It was incredible!"

"I could smell the stench of death coming from them," the fanaris replied as if it was nothing. As if it was the most boring thing we'd ever heard. Jamil patted him on the back then turned to look at Goltas.

"Wow, and Goltas could grab the spikes from above. You two are much more useful than that kid!" He wrapped his arms around my waist, placing a kiss on my cheek, "And (y/n)'s pretty face beats him in usefulness. Don't you agree?" He asks the two who only nod. Neither a yes or a no would be appropriate in this situation.

I notice the young Magi twitch in Goltas's arms. He's stirring, and I tap my Lord's shoulder. "Oh, is he awake?" Jamil asks. We all come to a halt. The boy's bright blue eyes burst open and seem frightened, then confused. He seemed to ask 'What's going on?', but no words fell from his lips.

"Oh, I'm sure you're confused. Don't worry, you were passed out earlier, and I helped you. We've been keeping you safe since then. Are you feeling better?" Jamil left out the details. You know, using him to become king, stealing his flute, killing his slave, and so forth.

His blue orbs glanced around, before landing on me. He must've recognized me from that day because his features immediately lit up.
