I had this sinking feeling that it was a bad idea to leave Juliana here with her father. My demon was pissed and didn't want to leave her here. Luckily Peter has the power to project his thoughts into others minds. He told me to leave her here, that if tomorrow or another day if we could see something was wrong we could come and take Juliana. I just didn't want to take the risk of something happening to her. I had a gut feeling that the black eye I asked her about the other day is from her father, but she wouldn't tell me. The only thing I could do was say goodbye and leave her there. It nearly broke my heart.
Juliana
I am finally in bed after Silas helping me to my bed. To no surprise I was unable to fall asleep. I just wanted to run away from this hell and never look back. That is exactly what I did. I got up and began putting together a small bag of basic things I would need. I snuck to the kitchen to grab some food to take with me. I then headed back up stairs and began climbing out my window when I heard my door open. Crap! I though mentally I have been caught and to my surprise it was Silas walking into my room.
"Jules, what are you doing?" He rushed to me as I was halfway out the window with one foot on a tree branch and the other on the window seal.
"I cant stay here Si. I can't take the beatings anymore." I said softly holding back the tears that threaten to spill from my eyes.
"Where are you going to go?" He said with sadness and hurt clear in his eyes.
"I am sorry Si, but I cant tell you. The less you know the better." I couldn't look at the disappointment in my brothers face to I looked at my hands.
"If you go to Leo that will be the first place father will look and you know it!" Silas shocked me. He wasn't trying to stop me. He was trying to help me. "Go, and I will play dumb. But please be safe and if you need anything leave a note inside the oak tree by the bridge." He said holding back his tears. I simply nodded and continued on climbing down the tree and when my feet hit the ground I sprinted towards the meadow.
I ran as fast as I could to the meadow. I feared that my father would follow me so as soon as my feet hit the ground. I ran without looking back once. I headed to the edge of the cliff near the waterfall and jumped into the river. I then swam to shore and walked to behind the waterfall to where the secret room was. I entered the room and closed the door. I started a fire in the fire place and changed out of my nightgown and into one of the dresses in the wardrobe. There was a small quilt draped on the back of the couch. I would use that later for a blanket I thought to myself and then I grabbed one of the dresses and made it into a pillow. I saw a small mirror you could hold in your hand and that was when I decided to check my reflection. I noticed there was a small hint of a bruise across my cheek from when father slapped me in the market. I looked over the rest of my body and there were bruises and welts from being whipped with the belt on my legs, stomach, and arms. I knew these things wouldn't fade overnight.
Thump. I was about to lay down for the night but was interrupted by a loud thump. I looked up to see the book on the lectern wide open. I hesitantly walk to the book and placed my hand on it when I heard a familiar voice. "Juliana." That's when I felt a cold breeze and chills filled my body. I then turned expecting to see someone behind me but there was no one. I turned back to the book and flipped through some pages. I noticed most of the things written in the book were recipes, but not for food, or stories about mythical creatures like vampires, werewolves, fairies, and demons. I decided to close the book for the night and head off to bed.

I woke up early from a restless nights sleep. My demon was anxious the entire night making me toss and turn. I couldn't help but feel guilty for leaving Juliana there but all I wanted to do was go to see her, but I couldn't. I needed to be with my father for a meeting with some king from who knows where wanting to arrange a marriage for his daughter and me. I knew very well that my father would not force me into this agreement because of the news of me finding my soulmate... maybe.
"Do I have to attend this meeting if we are going to tell him that I am already courting someone else?" I asked my father cranky.
"Yes, it looks better if you explain to King Eric that you are uninterested in his marriage proposal." He said not looking up from the maps and other paperwork he was sorting through. I sighed. I couldn't help but agree with my father, but I couldn't help but to feel the sensation as if I was cold. I shook it off and waited for King Eric to arrive for our meeting.
