Chapter 1 - One more birthday

Ballroom music.

Young pairs wearing elegant and elaborated dresses and suits dance in a large ballroom. Beautiful and large chandelliers hanging from the ceiling.

Warm candlelight.

A pair of white gloved hands rest on a lap covered by the long skirt of a violet lace dress.

Then, a pair of black gloves appear.

The sight changes its direction to look at the person in front.

-Would you like to dance?

A young man offers his right hand waiting for one white gloved hand.

-Of course. It would be my pleasure, sir.

The music changed. Now it was a valls. A dance of closeness.

The face of the young man was blurry, so the facial features could not be distinguished. But his dark hair and strong build, his large and warm hands were engraved in her conscience.

She could feel the warmth of his body though the clothes where their bodies touched.

They were dancing skillfully. The rest of the ballroom disappeared. At that moment, they were the only ones present in that world. That is, until the music ended.

They had to end their dance together. Those were the rules. But they felt they didn't need other dance partners anymore.

When, suddenly...

-Sorayaaa!

--------------------------------------------

Soraya woke up thanks to her mother's shouts.

-Sorayaa!

-I'm already awake!

Soraya stayed in bed, looking at the ceiling with her dark brown eyes, thinking about the dream she just had.

It was the first time she had a dream like that. It felt so real, so vivid.

She could feel the warmth in her hands. As if she really had touched someone. She touched her dark brown hair.

Her blue satin quilt reminded her of something else. But she didn't know what. She had a sense of dejavu like some would say.

She looked at the clock over her bedside table. It was time to go work.

--------------------

-Mum, I'm going to the cafe. See you later.

Soraya was already at the door with a brown coat, dark green dress and black leather boots with a toast in her mouth.

-Soraya wait!-Her mother run towards her and put a necklace on her neck from the side.- Happy birthday, dear daughter.

Soraya's parents were already in their mid fifties but none would say that they were older than forty in their first meeting.

Her mother was over one and seventy meters tall and her father was well over one eighty. They were quite addicted to sports, so they ran everyday. That is, when they were together.

Her mother was an history teacher at the university and her father worked as an archaeologist.

History was another of their shared passions. That's how she was called Soraya.

But sometimes, her father had to work outside the country for extended time periods. That was the case right now. His father was in Turkey.

-Thank you, mum.

The necklace was formed by a silver chain and a little round and shiny violet precious stone.

-It's an amethyst. I know that violet it's your favourite colour.

-I love it so much, thank you.

-------------------------------

Soraya arrived at Jane's Cafe. It was openned by one of her best friends. She had employed Soraya when she wasn't contacted by any of the companies she had applied for when she graduated. She had studied administration. But unexpectedly, she really liked this job. She worked at the counter, as a waitress and she made the accounting of the cafe.

She was happy.

-------------------------------

That day, after the cafe closed, Soraya celebrated her birthday with her friends.
