Chapter 16 - Chapter 15

As the day went on, so did the preparations for Roxie's evening dinner party at Angelo's. Both Annie and Cassie found a stunning romper jumpsuit for Roxie to wear that was both sophisticated and casual for dinner. For Roxie's hair; the girls opted for a half up half down look that accentuate Roxie's natural wavy dark brown hair and as for Roxie's make up; they all agreed for Roxie to go for a simple natural look. Now it seemed only right for Roxie to let Annie and Cassie get ready for the dinner party at Roxie's house. However; all 3 girls were pressed for time since Kyle and Roxie were planning on driving to Angelo's together. So Annie and Cassie thought it'd be best to just quickly get ready at Roxie's house and meet up with Nathan and the others at the restaurant. As soon as all 3 girls were ready; both Annie and Cassie separately contacted either Lexie or Garrett to let them know that they were heading to Angelo's.

"Are you sure you'll be alright from here on out? Annie and I don't mind staying until Kyle gets here." Cassie asked.

"No; I'll be fine. Besides I'm pretty sure the others are already on their way over to Angelo's as we speak. Plus it'll give you guys the opportunity to meet all the amazing people who are publishing my book." Roxie said sarcastically.

"I get the feeling that another rant is about to happen." Annie chuckled.

"Let's just say being in the spotlight is not all what I expected it to be. Anyway; that is a story that needs to be shared at another time with a glass of wine." Roxie stated.

"Well when that time does come; you best believe Annie and I will be there for you." Cassie said as she hugged her best friend. Pretty soon the van that was driving Annie and Cassie to Angelo's was parked outside in front of Roxie's brown house. Annie and Cassie then said their goodbyes to Roxie, got into the van and drove off to their next destination.

As for Nathan and the others; they were about 10 minutes away, but were caught in a bit of traffic.

"Is the traffic always this band at this time of the day?" Paul grumbled.

"Sadly; yes. It's one of the many downfalls about owning a vehicle in one of the most popular cities in all of the US." Garrett pointed out.

"Well; that's just perfect! By this rate, we're going to be the one's to arrive." Calvin remarked.

"In that case; I better text Annie and give her a head's up." Tom replied. Meanwhile Nathan was staring out the window, contemplating on whether or not if he should tell Roxie that he was Fifth Avenue Boy at the dinner party. Since Nathan's revelation to his band mates and Tom back at the Plaza Hotel, it seemed like it was the only solution for Nathan if he was going to reconnect with Roxie. However; Nathan wanted to get a second opinion on the matter and the only person who could give him that was none other than Garrett.

"Garrett; you seem like you can relate with me on this: say you meet someone online on some website and you develop a nice bond with them. Month go by and you both finally take the chance to meet each other in person. Here's the catch; the person you portray online is some made up account. What would you do; tell the person you met online who you really are right away or wait until the right moment?" Nathan asked him.

"Usually a sensible person would do the right thing and tell whoever they met online who they actually are right away. It's just common sense, but honestly I think it depends on the situation or relationship between me and who I developed this bond with," Garrett explained. "Then again; it's very rare and odd of you to ask me for my opinion about something. Is there something on your mind right now that you, oh I don't know; might regret later?" he added.

"No; I was just wondering for a friend, that's all." Nathan lied. At that point; Garrett just shrugged his shoulders while Nathan continued looking out the window. Pretty soon the van that was driving the boys to the restaurant was parked right near the main entrance of Angelo's. All six boys then got out of the car and walked over to the restaurant.

"Alright; I'm going to ask someone to see where this dinner party is located. In the meantime; stay here and stay out of trouble. Tom; text me when Annie and Cassie arrive." Garrett instructed. Garrett then walked over to the bar area to get some information about Roxie's evening dinner party. A few minutes passed and Annie and Cassie had arrived at the restaurant.

"You girls made it here pretty fast. We thought you'd be stuck in all that traffic." Landon pointed out.

"You could thank Cassie for that. Right after Tom texted me; she found a short cut that got the two of us here in no less than 15 minutes without traffic." Annie praised.

"It's pretty easy; you just got to know which alternate routes to take to your destination," Cassie admitted. "Otherwise you are going to be one of the many dummies stuck in traffic and be even more late to whatever event you planned to go to." she added.

"Speaking of events; where is everybody? And where is Garrett?" Annie asked.

"He should be back by now. Garrett had left to go ask to see where this evening dinner party would be located here at the restaurant." Paul explained.

"Well; hopefully he comes back right away. I would hate to be late to this evening dinner party." Annie said. Pretty soon Garrett had returned to where Nathan and the others were waiting for him.

"Any luck?" Tom asked him.

"Kind of. I had a nice little chat with one of the bartenders and he's going to send us Roxie's agent to bring us to where Roxie's dinner party being held at tonight." Garrett informed them. After another few minutes have passed, Andrew had arrived at the restaurant's main entrance where Garrett, Nathan and the others were waiting for him.

"Well, what do you know? The whole motley crew of misfits have arrived." Andrew muttered.

"I take it you must be Andrew?" Garrett asked.

"That's right and you all are the last minute invites, aka Roxie's friends from this morning," Andrew grumbled. "Anyway; if you all can follow me; I'll take you to where the dinner party is being held at this evening." he added. Nathan and the others then grabbed their belongings and followed Andrew through the restaurant. As the group was heading to the dinner party; Annie was observing Andrew from afar.

"Is it just me or do you think Andrew seems a bit annoyed by the fact that we're all here for Roxie's dinner party?" she whispered in Garrett's ear.

"It's hard to say. I barely know the guy, but if there is one thing I know; there's something about Andrew that is making me feel suspicious." Garrett pointed out. Pretty soon the group had finally arrived at the location where Roxie's evening dinner party was being held at. To the group's surprise; the party was located on the rooftop of the restaurant overlooking a majestic view of the city.

"Now this is a view that is worth while." Tom gasped as he stared out into the distance.

"You can say that again," Landon stated. "Now that we're here; I'm going to see if I can find some horderves to snack on." he added.

"I'll go join you. I'm starving." Calvin replied. Tom decided to also join Calvin and Landon; leaving Paul, Nathan, Cassie, Annie and Garrett alone looking out at the view.

"Well since some of the boys are off looking for snacks; would you ladies like to join me for a couple of drinks?" Garrett asked both Annie and Cassie.

"Don't mind if we do." Cassie smiled. Garrett then escorted Annie and Cassie over to the small rooftop bar making Paul and Nathan the only ones left with nothing to do.

"I'm surprised you didn't join them at the bar." Paul remarked.

"After with what happened back in the hotel room; I thought it'd be best to take it easy with the alcohol tonight." Nathan answered.

"Look, Nathan about what I said at the hotel room-."

"There's no need to apologize. You and the lads were right. If there is any chance of me and Roxie ever getting back together I need to be honest about everything even if it its the one thing that could tear us apart," Nathan sighed. "Now; if you'll excuse me; I'm going to go find a place to sit for dinner." he added. Nathan then walked away from Paul to go find a table for the group to sit. As the night went on; more guests started to arrive to Roxie's evening dinner party. While this was happening, Garrett and some of the others would join Nathan at the table and try to convince him to join them in their conversation. However; Nathan would just not be interested and keep to himself for a majority of the conversation.

After a while had passed; Nathan had the sudden urge to go to the restroom. So Nathan walked back into the restaurant and started to make his way towards the men's restroom. Around the same time Nathan was going to the restroom; Roxie and Kyle were arriving at Angelo's having a brief conversation about Kyle's new job and Roxie's upcoming promotional tour for her book.

"I can't believe out of the many weeks that I have been talking about my promotional tour; you've decided to tell me that you won't be coming with me because of your new job in Boston in the night of my dinner party!" Roxie cried.

"Hey, look at me. I am truly sorry that it had to be this way, but like I told you earlier; there was nothing that I could do. The guy that owns the newspaper is very strict with those that edit and write for the newspaper. If it makes you feel any better; I can try to convince him to give me some time off so I can join you on your tour." Kyle reassured her.

"Are you crazy?! Kyle; you have been wanting to be a sports editor for a newspaper for years! I'm not going to let you pass up on an opportunity like this one just because I'm upset that the guy I'm currently dating isn't joining me on some promotional book tour." Roxie remarked.

"Wait; so you're letting me go to Boston?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah; I know it sucks but if there is one thing that I've learned, it's that you've got to fight for what means the most to you." Roxie said.

"I knew you would understand and if I heard you correctly; I believe you said that I was the guy that you're currently dating?"

"Hey, take it easy hot shot. Just because I said that doesn't mean that you're off the hook when it comes to dating me." Roxie remarked.

"Oh, come on Roxie. Admit it; you can't resist my charming personality," Kyle chuckled as he leaned in to kiss Roxie on the lips. Roxie tried her best to not be tempted by Kyle's charm, but she gave in and gave him a small peck on the lips. "See; you find me irresistible." he smiled. Roxie just giggled and rolled her eyes. However; while Roxie and were having their private conversation; Nathan had overheard and saw everything without Roxie even noticing him from a short distance.
