"He can't close the door to my face! Again." Amelia thought to herself as Cutter slammed the door. She couldn't let him have his peace, thus she followed behind, slamming it also as she entered. As it banged, Cutter turned to look at her uneventful face, and turned back again, she thought she looked charming. He thought she was deranged.
" Do you have anything against me?" Amelia asked sounding so desperate.
" no, why would I? I don't even know you." Cutter replied in his tracks because his decision was ruined by this doll girl. And he couldn't continue his workout sessions.
" are you bothered by my presence" she asked again gesturing to herself, to ensure that he looks at her. Cutter turned to look a her, because he previously replied with his back at her, as if looking at her irritated him.
" Why would I?" He said again and Amelia realised that first of all, this tech guy liked answering questions with questions, and secondly, her presence troubled him. But she chose not to voice that, but smile at him in response.
" you have got like me anyway, after all we share the same office." She said shrugging and the tech guy maintained his static posture.
" and not to say that I am your boss, I am not trying to misuse my title, but I beg for your respect." She finished the sentence putting her hands together to show how she was really begging him and Cutter chuckled.
Amelia looked at how, he was standing, just there looking at her, and giving all the time to her without replying to her whining, and she felt something flutter in her heart, she was not used to encountering people who let her be herself and listen to her intently. Even though the tech guy seemed to not reply, he really stood out as someone who would listen.
Cutter excused himself, and came back after approximately fifteen seconds, as Amelia counted, which she wasn't sure was true but it was close to that. He entered the living room again, with a laptop and a shirt on. Amelia thanked God for that, but she wasn't sure if she liked him naked or with a shirt on.
Cutter sat on the sofa, without bothering to look at her and he patted the sit next to him for her to come, Amelia neared the sofa and sat right next him to see whatever he was about to do.
" you look young compared to the level of education that you are at." Cutter said and it took Amelia aback, because she wasn't expecting that question from him.
"Sure, I skipped a lot of classes, you can say, I was pretty genius." She said looking at him
" well, you are pretty, but genius? Not sure." Cutter said and Amelia felt her heart flutter again. She was pretty, she thought as the tech guy continued to look straight in her eyes.
"Don't flatter me, it works on me. " Amelia said and it earned her a hard look from Cutter.
" well, I meant it to work." He said as he logged in some stuffs that Amelia couldn't figure out, she could really agree that technology was not her thing. She loved doing things on her own, that is why she have tried to create a website for her pet shelter. But she couldn't even know the first steps, consequently she had to find someone to create a website for her. She was devastated beyond measure. Because she wanted to learn even the basics of IT, like coding, Java and other interesting features tech people seemed to know. So seeing Cutter write in the computer, she couldn't know what was going in.
" I am trying to create a fake username code for me to access Miller's employees files." He said and Amelia nodded in response, because whatever.
" I know the password to the data base, but they change it every twenty four hours, so we have few hours left for twenty four hours to end, and I become one among the people who don't know the new password." She said and Cutter looked unfazed by that.
" what is the password?" Cutter asked still typing on his laptop.
" Ləîcsters" she said and it earned her a stare from Cutter.
"That your name?" He asked and Amelia nodded in response, he might have thought that the company was crazy, which was what Amelia thought too, but that is how Miller's worked. The passwords revolved around their names and birth dates, sometimes they would add numbers or invert the names, but nobody have ever learnt the password codes, even her knowledge of it came from the bribe she gave Roger, to get Today's code. Nobody else know how it goes, except Roger and her dad. And she thinks that it will be the end of her, if her dad learns about what she have just done.
" it is not working." Cutter said and Amelia spelled it once again, but highlighting the need of inverting the letters and some additional signs. Cutter nodded to that and lack of failure word from Cutter told her that it was easy to access it. It worked.
" what is your guilty pleasure?"
" killing my dad." Cutter replied and Amelia laughed taking the joke easy way.
Because who would kill a person?
" ha funny." She replied, but observing the look on Cutter's face. Posed and relaxed. She wanted to believe it a little, but her little heart said not to the speculations.
"What's yours." Cutter asked disturbing her from her thoughts.
" Being a vet." She said charmingly and Cutter looked surprised by that.
" you are a vet." He asked again and Amelia nodded her head.
"Whoa! I didn't know." He said as if he was sure he knew all about Amelia.
" why?" Amelia asked in confusion.
" you don't look like it, that's what I meant." Cutter said dismissing all other questions she could have raised regarding the I don't know that he said.
" well, you can't cease to Amaze me." Cutter added looking at her and Amelia smiled. She couldn't take all the compliments that were coming from Cutter's mouth. And he seemed to mean it all.
" well, I loved pets, since young, so I chose animal medicine, but I was out of luck and I went for an MBA. She said trying to mask the sadness that the idea of leaving her dream made her feel.
" I understand, you must be proud of yourself." Cutter said and earned a simple yes from Amelia, which she thought gave him the idea of dropping the topic. But she really felt good talking about it.
" you can quit if you don't like working at the company." Cutter suggested.
" it is not that easy." She replied in a quite tone and Cutter looked at her, he might have thought that she cried to that. But she didn't. Because why would she? When she have been grateful all her life, even though not everything was falling into place.
" I am sorry for that" he said.
"Can we start off on good terms now?" Amelia asked, and Cutter glared at her, as if she was crazy.
" no we can't." He said and from what Amelia heard, he sounded damn serious.
"Why?" Amelia insisted.
" it's not that easy." He gave her back the words she just used and she felt stuffed up by Cutter. Because first, She have never met a stiff person in her life. Never! And secondly, she have never befriended an impossible person. But here she was, sitting next to the person she knew for less than a week and felt comfortable with them.
