Elijah looks at the clock, there were five minutes to 8 o'clock. He jogs downstairs and goes to the kitchen. He opens a loaf of bread, puts two slices in the toaster. He opens the fridge, takes out the carton of orange juice and a tub of jam.
PING! He takes the hot toast from the toaster and puts it on a plate. Elijah opens the jam, takes a knife, and carefully applies it evenly on the toast. He opens the carton and pours himself a full glass of orange juice. He sits down at the dining table and eats in silence.
After, he takes the keys to his car, his luggage and heads outside towards the car. He opens the door and sits inside. Before he turns the car on, he looks at the house again. For the very last time.
"Thank you, you took away the one thing in my life that I looked forward to every single day. I came here hoping for a nice vacation and it was very nice indeed" he says in a sarcastic tone with a heavy heart.
He turns the car on and drives away from the cabin. He keeps an eye on the time to make sure it doesn't turn 10 o'clock. He drives for about 30 minutes, then finally he sees the board.
POLICE STATION, it read. He turns inside and parks the car. He gets out and walks inside the station.
"Hello, Mr. Elijah, My name is Alex. Please have a seat," says the police inspector.
He seems to be very respectful to Elijah. Everyone in town knew Elijah and the Bennett family, their reputation was very well honored.
"Thank you, Alex," says Elijah, as he takes a seat.
"So, Mr. Elijah, you found your wife dead in your backyard in the morning, am I right?" asks Alex. Elijah nods politely.
"Yes, that's right. I can't believe it still. Even the night before we sat by the bonfire and talked. We planned on having such an amazing time. I just don't understand what could have happened. Oh, look at me, I almost forgot," Elijah grabs his bag and reaches for something on the bottom. He pulls out the hunting gun he found next to Kira.
"I found this next to her, it was covered in blood," says Elijah. Alex takes a hold of the gun and examines it. He looks at the blood traces closely.
"So, do you think this was a suicide?" asks Alex carefully.
"I mean that is the only plausible theory out of all them, right? I mean how could this be a murder, who would come to the woods in the middle of the night just to kill my wife? Moreover, no one could possibly know our family cabin except for me and my family." says Elijah.
"Yes, that does make sense. I guess you are right then. All the pieces of evidence prove that it could be suicide. Do you know any reason your wife would commit suicide?" asks Alex.
Elijah was quiet for a minute and then says "Well, we were having some troubles. I mean who doesn't? All married couples do. But we decided to part away after the weekend, I just don't understand why she made such a rash decision." Elijah's voice broke down, tears start filling his eyes.
"Mr.Elijah, calm yourself. I understand the pain you are going through right now, but trust me it will all go away soon. Your wife's body is currently in the morgue. I'll let you know once the autopsy results come in. You're free to go, just give us your number so we can contact you" says Alex, he gets up and gives Elijah a hug to comfort him. Elijah thanks him and on his way out of the station he gives his phone number to the police inspector. He starts the car and drives off.

Elijah drives back to their apartment. He opens the door and walks in. Everywhere he turns there are pictures of Kira, hanging from here and there. He just couldn't escape her face. He closes his eyes and hears Kira's voice. He feels Kira's touch. He remembers all of their high school memories, they were the real "High School Sweethearts".
Although they had troubles, he loved her so much. More than she will ever know. He opens his eyes and goes to their bedroom. He picks up her photo which was on the nightstand.
"Why Kira? Why? Why did you make such a rash decision? Why did you leave me?" he asks the picture.
He throws it on the ground, the photo shatters, and bits fly around everywhere. He screams and falls on the bed. Tears roll down his cheek and fall on the sheets. He slowly wipes them away. He sits up on the bed and starts smiling.
"You left me, Kira. Oh no. Now what am I going to do without you?" he asks in a sarcastic tone as he grins at the broken picture.
