After sitting and staring at the young man who had the audacity to fall asleep in an interrogation room, Tito got up walked around to the other side of the table and yanked the young man into his seat.
He watched the younger man shake himself awake and groggily take an unconcerned look at his surroundings.
"You got any coffee lying around somewhere?... I could use a bit of the good stuff right about now." He asked.
Saying he was surprised at the boy's candor would be an understatement, he had junior recruits who had almost peed themselves because according to them he always looked grim and forbidding. This was going to be a very, very interesting conversation.
"Who are you and what is your name?", Tito asked. The interrogation had begun.
Scratching the side of his chin with a gloved pinky Finn looked at the III officer and wondered if the question was worth responding to at all.
First, he would have to explain why he didn't have a last name, that wasn't his fault though, he just didn't remember it or maybe he didn't really want to remember. He really liked the life of peace he had been living on Lilene, he had built a place for himself here but he knew this would happen, maybe it was time to move on.
"I won't ask again, Who are you and what is your name?" Tito was losing patience. It was almost as if he wasn't in the room and the young man was having a private discussion in his head. He felt left out, he didn't like that feeling.
"My name is Finn and I just want to sleep".
Finally, some progress..., thought Tito. "Do you know why you're here? Sitting in this room or you want me to tell you again?" He asked.
"No", Finn replied. " I heard you the first time and I don't have much to say because I don't know much about anything. Why did you take me? Why did you bring me here? What makes you think I know anything that can help you find what you're looking for."
"So you know nothing about the blue dome above us?" Tito asked, "you have absolutely no idea how it got there?"
"No, not a clue", Finn replied.
This guy was a bald faced liar, he didn't even flinch when he denied everything. Tito chuckled, "Then how do you plan to explain this painting of you and the very first monarch of Lilene who signed the treaty with the Divine being", the officer said as he slammed a picture of the painting on the table, he had won this round and he knew it.
But somehow, with the toughest poker face he'd ever seen Finn took a fleeting look at the picture, shrugged and said. "I donno, maybe someone's trying to set me up or something."
The look of disbelief on the officers face at Finn's blatant denial of the hard proof between them on the table, must have been extremely satisfying because Finn fell off his chair again in a fit of laughter.
The junior Interrogator outside stared on in awe, this was the strangest interrogation he had ever witnessed, his superior's skill was without doubt unequalled.
He had never seen such a technique that had prisoners laughing and sleeping on the floor from agony all in one session.
He was going to pay close attention and learn from this. Now if only he could hear what exactly it was that they were saying to each other in there.
Tito had pure disbelief written on his normally expressionless face, as he watched the prisoner laugh at his shock.
Shaking himself out of his frozen state he looked hard at Finn and said, "Tell me what I want to know".
Still lying on the floor and gasping from laughter, Finn smiled and looked at the officer, "My name is Finn and I used to travel the Stars".
