Chapter 7 - The Man Who - Became A Fugitive

Finally reaching his office, Tito slammed the door and sat down at his desk. The folder in his hand he ran his hand through his thick dark hair and sighed. This morning he has been absolutely excited and completely certain that progress was finally about to be made, but right now...

He just didn't understand, how was it so hard to crack one man? Besides, where could he have come from? There was no record of him. It was beyond strange, All they'd been able to find out was that he'd appeared in the middle of a court session in the throne room.

The place had only one known entrance, No one has seen him come in through them. He sighed again. That could only mean he had been in the room before the session had begun, Tito vaguely wondered if he was a spy of some sort.

Scoffing out loud at the ridiculous thoughts running through his mind, he rested back in his chair and stared at a pendulum piece on his desk. The only other explanation he could think of was that he had come through a secret entrance.

That would irrevocably spell trouble for all the palace security. Secret passages were all well and good, but only if they were top secret and we'll guarded. Nothing about this situation was making any sense, especially not the young man sitting calmly in the interrogation room he had just left.

Groaning from the frustration, he called out to a junior officer to get him something to drink even as he settled down to read through the files and reports in his desk. He would find a clue somehow.

Meanwhile, outside in the silence and darkness of space, beyond the throbbing blue dome that wrapped the green planet of Lilene in a faint blue hue. A small sleek space ship hovered just out of it's orbit.

The space ship was called "The Quill". On board the quill, the ship's captain Jira nursed a drink as he stared in fascination at the dome that encased the planet in a familiar soft glow.

He had been searching for years, looking for the lost one. He had been told stories by his father, The amazing feats and exploits of the traveler. Growing up, he had been Jira's idol but things had changed.

Jira was a hunter, A bounty hunter. He and his crew had been contracted a few years ago to go on a top secret mission to hunt down a criminal.

Along the way they caught other wanted people and earned their keep but he had later found out the identity of this top secret criminal.  He didn't believe the stories anymore, he would find out for himself if there was any truth to the tales.  Finally, he had found the lost planet of Lilene.

"Sir, we have tried all the frequencies,  Nothing seems to be getting through."

Throne was the ship's comm expert and data analyst. He kept swiping at the pad in his hand even as he turned to face the glowing planet that was imposingly large on the screen in front of them.

"So, what you're saying is...we have no way of communicating with the inhabitants of this planet?" Turning his attention to the captain Throne nodded. " I'm afraid so sir."

After all this time hunting his quarry, it was right in front of him and he could do nothing. Further analysis of the dome had shown reflector defense systems that would deflect or refire what ever attack that was thrown at it in multiple fold.

Jira growled in frustration but continued to sip at his drink. He was a hunter, he would not be outsmarted by prey. Even if it was the superior kind.

Chuckling softly, Jira stood from his seat and headed to his quarters. Stopping at the doorway of the bridge he turned to look at Throne and the other officers of the Quill.

"It seems we have encountered a challenge unlike any other, this has become a waiting game and also a game of luck. I need you all to be at attention and watch for any anomalies out chance will come soon.

I can feel it".

He left and went to his quarters to sleep, something told him he would be getting much of this luxury in the days to come. His intuition was rarely ever wrong.
