I was doing it. I went through the barrier, the only feeling I had was numbed for a split moment before I stepped foot outside to a whole new world that I had never known. Darkness fell upon my face.
The only thing I have to watch for now; was Guards.
I saw a patch of trees not far, the dirt under my feet looked starved for water. I gulped and rushed to the tree's, crossing my fingers that no guards saw me.
Huffing and pausing to listen. I heard nothing.
All clear.
Crack.
Or not.
I turned around to see it was only a mere small animal that looked similar to a earth squirrel. But it had two tails and a third eye in the back of its head. It's information bar hanging over it's head said the species and health.
I sighed and walked deeper into the patch of tree's. This place looked nothing like the world I saw in that dome.
The sky was lit up with stars, the tree's leaves echo'd the light down onto me. My heart was racing. Leaves crunched onto the hard ground beneath my feet. My backpack rattling on my back, and my chain straps rubbing against my arms. It was fine, I had an extra layer on for that reason. And the fact the temperature tended to drop drastically around two hours into the night and heat back up again in the day.
This was a bipolar planet I guess you could say.
Looking up at the stars through the tree's, I saw the milky-way. Such a bright cluster of stars.. Besides that, a little ways over I saw my dads planet. Fasnus.
A smile spread to my lips.
That planet was my encouragement. I didn't need anything else but that.
It wouldn't be too hard getting off the planet, I just needed to find the drop ship before the animal's find me.
Just then, I heard a loud roar from around a mile away. It sounded like maybe a species of dragon. Or maybe something else. I don't know everything out here. I just know the biggest thing could be a dragon. I couldn't tell if it was in the air or on the ground from the roar. I hadn't ever heard a dragon roar, and I haven't ever seen one. Let's keep it that way. Get to close; it might be the last thing I see.
I chuckled to myself, shaking my head.
❧ I was two hours in. My heart was pounding, and I had heard another animal that didn't sound very friendly. So, I kept running. I saw another sphere going over a unknown place. I could only tell it was there due to the edge's of the glowing octagons that concealed everyone.
I huffed and carried on.
Pause.
Wait.
I looked back towards the dome, issuing my vision to lock in on the object walking out. Object? No, that's a person!
I froze up, I was standing out in the open, heading for a bundle of rocks. Staying here might get me caught, and I don't know if it's a mission that person is on.
They could kill me for all I know.
I took one last glance, seeing straight, pastel-green, hair that went down to their shoulders—possibly a little further. Maybe, it's a girl?
A saw a object on their back, but I couldn't make out what it was. It could possibly be a weapon. Looked as if so.
I chewed my lip and carried on, walking faster until I was in a full on sprint repeating in my head that "I was going to be okay" and "they didn't see me." Hopefully they didn't see me.
Now in the rock columns, I noticed I only had a few more miles before I was at the drop ship. I was getting tired. My eyes kept wanting to fall shut, but I didn't let them. The time I saw a cave, I would stop and rest up. Not for long, people would be scouting the area soon for the person leaving that colony and I didn't want to get caught up in a mess.
I kicked small rocks as I went along, watching them bounce off the walls and stop. My mind tried to trail itself back to my village and family but I didn't let it. I didn't want to be reminded that I couldn't go back unless I got dad. Dad would help with getting home. I mean, he had to have a good plan. I get my brains from him after all. Mom can sometimes not be that bright, but I have no room to speak, I did just leave something I can't ever go back to. But it was my decision. And I will fulfill it. No mater what.
The sky flickered, and when I looked overhead, dark clouds formed in front of my eyes. It was cold, and it was about to rain. I looked around for a cave, I didn't see one right away, so I ran, swerving through the columns, and finding a overhang with two walls.
Good enough.
I felt the sprinkle of water starting to come down onto my head, trickling down my forehead while I sprinted to the overhang, hiding myself under the area. I sighed in relief, rubbing my arms through my clothing.
I was shivering.
It must not be below thirty-two or it would be snowing right now. But it's gotta be pretty close.
I shut my eyes and leaned my head back aginats the wall while my back rested on my backpack. Thank the stars, I made it here safely. It would have been bad if I got a cold before I even got to the drop ship! I'd be doomed. Possibly—dead.
I shook my head with a small smile, running my hand through my hair, avoiding my horns.
I sat up, slipped off my backpack, and took out the water bottle I had packed. I didn't drink too much of it, only a little before I put it back. I decided not to eat one of my snacks due to not knowing how long it would be until I got food on Fasnus. I used my backpack as a pillow, huddling up in fetal position to keep myself warmer and smaller I case someone came by. I don't know why they would be out in the rain, though.
I gulped and hid my face with my arms, shutting my eyes. I fell asleep. Listening closely to the rain.
❧I jumped, hearing the crackle of fire wake me. When I opened my eyes my vision was blurry, so I only saw red before I felt a hand pat my head. Or maybe they were touching my horns. I was too delirious to tell.
"Uh.." I started and rubbed my eyes, looking into someone else's bright orange ones that seemed to glisten like glitter, "Who.." I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. The fear of someone finding me to kill me for their rank came flooding back. I froze up, my hands and fingernails digging into the dirt. The person tilted their head before looking down to their hand. It was a male. I could tell by the strong jawline, broad shoulders, and flat chest. He looked torn. As if he had lost everything. The only lively thing about him was his eyes, the color of his hair and skin, and the fire he wielded in his hand.
"I'm Sebbe Hadley, coming from the Gingin clan.." His voice was even broken, his face showing no emotion.
He sounded upset.
That clan... I've never heard of it.
This was the person I saw coming out of the other colony..
The shoulder length, pastel green, hair gave it away.
His eyes looked exactly like the fire. Alive but could be put out quickly.
"Are you.." I started then hummed, "Why aren't you in your village?" I asked.
He looked up, the fire dispersing along with the twinkle that was once held in his eyes. It seemed to be getting daylight outside and the rain had let up.
"I was cast out." He whispered, "I'm not of this planet." He continued.
That explains the clan Gingin..
"What's your planet?" My eyes looked over his dark blue bandana on his forehead that complimented his light pink skin.
A smile spread to his chapped lips.
"Orcos.." I guess I understood why he was smiling. He thought of home. He thought of his family.
"How did you find me?" I asked, and his vision turned from the far dirt wall, to my own.
"I saw you running across the plain. I saw that you didn't want any trouble so I thought it would be okay to meet with you. So I followed you and caught up, but you broke into a sprint once it started raining, so I waited for you to sleep. I didn't want to scare you. And I didn't mean to scare you, sorry." Sebbe said, his voice seemed to repair itself. He no longer sounded hurt. His voice held a strong will, one that if you looked at him, you wouldn't have saw it at first.
His clothes were dry, but that could be from his own fire. A lucky thing to have at times like that.
"Ah, I understand. But, I'm not going to be on this planet for long." I said with a nervous smile.
"Oh no, are you gonna.." he started but paused, not wanting to finish.
"No, I'm not. I'm just going to get off of this one. You're free to come if you want." I said with a grin.
I noticed, on his back, it was a bow and a few arrows. He would come in handy if he could actually use them.
I'm not saying he can't. I'm just saying I don't know him.
"Okay,.. where are you going?"
"Planet Fasnus." When I spoke his eyes went wide.
"The bright—the planet with the Falkin people?! You do know they have these crazy abil-oh! And they all share the same blood! I heard it was silv-oh.." while he was rambling, I noticed a twinge of fear in his eyes. If he hadn't noticed, it was good. No one else would. On the other hand, if I was going to get along with him;..No secrets. I pulled up my long sleeve and showed him the glistening silver veins. He stopped talking and looked away quickly, regretting his decisions, I suppose.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to speak rash of your kind." He started, "But, how did you end up here?" His eyes met mine again.
"Well, I was born here. My mom was taken here, actually.." I gave a small laugh and pulled my sleeve down, sitting up fully instead of half way.
"Oh,.. I was taken from my home. I really have nothing to go back to now.. our planet was taken over by them."
I furrowed my eyebrows, "By who?" I asked.
"By the Astrian's. They opposed us as threats because we could wield fire at the palms." Sebbe made his fire come back to life, and I stared. Why would someone..
Just, why?
This planet was bad, but... it wasn't..
Or maybe it was.
"We were a small colony, so we didn't have much. We were already going extinct anyways. Due to the animals.." He said as if it would lighten the mood.
Maybe this planet something no one thought it was.
It's turning out to be something I wouldn't have ever thought it to be. Yes, I don't like this planet, but I've never felt hatred towards it until now.
Taking out another because you're scared?
Better yet, taking them out while they were already a small colony.
Who the hell does that?
I growled and huffed under my breath. I wonder if Sebbe can see the smoke coming out of my ears.
"I like your horns.." he whispered.
He looked as if he was being shy, or maybe he didn't know how to make friends. Sebbe acted young but could possibly just be new to talking to other kinds. We live amongst many and don't even know it, apparently.
I shook my head, "Thanks.." I was still mad at the fact I couldn't help him.
I could bring him with me, but I was going to come right back here. Right back to this dreadful planet.
It was time to start thinking up a new plan..
❧While we walked, we started to learn more about each other. Apparently, Mr. Hadley here, is a archer amongst his clan. They took him for testing then they disregarded him. He said he fought back, but I find it hard to believe due to the fact he acts shy. He's shorter than me. It's possible he's younger too. My backpack bounced while I jumped off the rock landing safely on my feet with a splash of a muddy puddle. Sebbe followed quickly behind. He said he could use his fire as a jet pack. It was weird, almost like they took the clan out because they were getting too strong. Maybe—just maybe, that was the real case.
"Hey," I started, breaking the silence, "Did you have siblings?" I asked. His eyes looked at me, he was doodling in the air with his fire while we walked. I noticed every time he used his fire, his eyes would sparkle like they were burning also. We have something in common. Just not the color.
"No, I was a lone child. My mom was never around. So, when I left, I didn't really have much taken from me." Sebbe shrugged.
I had to admit, I was feeling bad for him.
For how he lived through that.
I would be broken. I wouldn't know what to do.
He's strong in will. This could possibly be the stars giving me someone to hold me together.
"What about you?" He asked.
"A half blood sister." I replied, "And I'm on the hunt to get my dad." I added.
Sebbe caught up and his fire dispersed, he was falling behind due to his height being around 5'5 while mine was 5'7. Not much of a difference, but I'm used to walking fast to avoid everyone around the village.
"Thats neat." He huffed and shoved his hands in his pants pockets.
"Sort of." I smiled, "I find it weird we haven't ran into any ferocious animal's out here..." I said, looking around with pursed lips.
"Maybe they aren't common in the coves of rocks." Sebbe laughed, and I mustered up the courage to look over one of the rocks.
"That could be it. But what if we are just walking and their out there watching?" I asked, grinning.
"Hey!" Sebbe called, making me laugh in response, "Don't scare people with your creepy humor!" He huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, looking away with a pout. While he wasn't paying attention, he almost tripped, "Woah-" before he caught himself with the opposite leg that got stuck.
"Careful." I said, grinning ear to ear.
"I am." He rung his hands together, then sighed, "How much further?"
"Around three miles. Not much. If we stay in the cracks under ground until we get to that tree cluster—" I used my insight vision to see farther out of the cove, my eyes glistening white while they illuminated, "We should be good to go." I blinked the vision away and went back to Sebbe's side. His eyes were sparkling, but he wasn't showing any signs of fire.
A stupid grin plastered on his face.
"What?" I asked, "Did I do something embarrassing?" I chuckled softly.
"No, you just— your eyes glowed!" He smiled, staring up at me.
"Well,.. your eyes do that weird thing too with, like, embers instead of just light." I said, trying to make the boy feel good about himself.
"Oh, really? I never noticed.." he mumbled, "my powers manifested after they caught me." He muttered, "Never had a reflective surface, so I wouldn't know." He scrunched his nose and sneezed. But someone seemed to keep his hair neatly trimmed.
"Bless them be." I said, shaking my head, "How old are you?" I asked, looking over my shoulder at the boy who stopped to sneeze again.
"I'm—" he sneezed, "thirteen.." he shook his head, shaking off the woozy feeling the small rushes of adrenaline gave him.
"Really? You look a year older."
"My birthday should be soon, I don't know how long I've been thirteen for, and I don't know the current date." He sighed.
"What's your birth date?" I asked.
"July fifteenth, 3041." He said.
"It's 3056, July the third right now.." I hummed, "So you will actually be sixteen in twelve days. So, you're actually fifteen right now.." I mumbled.
"Woah, really!?" He exclaimed, a grin plastered on his face.
A smile definitely suited his facial physique.
It was upsetting to see one not there.
"Yeah, happy early birthday." I said, jokingly, "You're older than me."
Sebbe laughed, "Hah! You said I looked fourteen, and now you're the one younger." He giggled and made his way a little further ahead of me.
You definitely act younger than fourteen, though. I kept my mouth shut and let my grin show. He clearly accumulated some new energy and confidence from that. I guess he had a point; I am younger.
"Hey! Wait up, we don't know what's further that way!" I said, catching up to him slowly. I didn't want to ruin his energy high, so I only kept myself a little ways behind and let him ramble.
At least I had someone to talk to other than myself, today.
