Chapter 7 - ❧My Questions

I glanced over my shoulder, slightly startled out of a haze.

"Uh, yeah. I'm doing alright, what are you doing up?" I asked, looking at Sebbe in the eyes, he was leaning in the doorway of the steering quarters.

"I just heard your door shut, I'm in the room next to you." Sebbe said, clamping his hands together and walking over to sit beside me in the second pilot seat.

"Oh.." I muttered, chewing the skin off my lip.

I didn't try to meet his eyes anymore.

"What happened to Rawn's gun?" I asked, looking out the window. It already obscured most my vision anyways, and it was such a beautiful sight.

"Aura took it, it triggered Clem a little bit.. it apparently didn't have any bullets and it's not of our technology. Not to mention Aura hadn't ever seen it either. It was created recently." Sebbe said. I could feel his gaze, staring at my cheek while I acted as if I didn't know. Or maybe he was looking at the bruises.

"Hm? Can I get a look at it?" I peeked over, looking at the boys pastel hair, and his bandana tangled up around it.

"Yeah, of course. I'll ask Aura in the morning if you aren't already up." He smiled.

Don't smile.. I don't deserve that..

"Okay." I said, but my voice came out weak.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Sebbe asked, and the words sunk in.

Someone was asking. Was I really okay?

My lip quivered and I bit it to make it stop. I'm fine. I'll be fine.

"Hey, Quest! Hey—" Sebbe embraced me holding me close to his chest, "Don't cry! It wasn't your fault.. You were mad.. You lost control. Heh, I don't blame you."

I was crying?..

"Is that what happened?" I questioned.

The tears going down my face were hot, now that he mentioned it, I had finally noticed; I really was crying.

"We all get thrown past our breaking points.." Sebbe whispered, and I hugged him back tightly.

"I'm sorry.." I whispered, then repeated again, and again, and again.

"It's alright." Sebbe rubbed my back softly, "No one hates you.."

"Clem, he'll-" I was cut off, Stifling a sob.

"He's not mad at you." Sebbe pulled away from the hug, holding me at my shoulders, "He wouldn't be mad at you for having that kind of self restraint. You could have killed him, and you didn't." Sebbe said, staring me in the eyes. I didn't stare back. I didn't even dare glance.

"How did you know Clem's past?" I asked.

"Aura told me.." He whispered.

"How long have you-" I was cut off again.

"Only a few minutes after everything went down.. You knew before me." He said, letting go of my shoulders, "And that's okay, it wasn't your place to tell."

I only nodded, bringing the palm of my hand up and wiping away my tears.

"Okay, go get some sleep. I'm going to do some adjusting to the directions. Make sure nothing is coming.." I looked back to the dashboard, all the buttons laid out on display for me to see. For me to control. For me to use.

"M'kay, but get some rest t'night, 'kay?" He asked, "You've had a long day."

I nodded, and pressed the holocom button on my neck.

Then Sebbe left.

❧I heard faint talking, whispers, and saw a dark room. Around me were Clem, Aura, and Sebbe. They stood staring at me with smiles, then they turned away, walking to a drop ship.

I chuckled, "You guys, you can't get in a drop ship. We gotta find a bigger ship. Where are we Anyways?" I looked around, it was only darkness, and a ship. I didn't know what was going on.

I tried following them, but someone put their hand on my shoulder.

I turned around to lock eyes with a man that looked identical to me but around twenty years older.

"Dad.." I whispered, my eyebrows furrowed. I didn't know if it was my father, but he stared out over the darkness to the drop ship.

"Where are they going?" I glanced to the ship and back to him.

He only looked down at me, then back up at the ship. The door closed. They were all inside. All but me.

"Dad, what's going on?" I asked, nervously laughing.

"They don't need you anymore." The man smiled, and looked down at me, "You've accomplished your mission, little one."

My eyebrows furrowed. My eyes didn't leave the ship that was taking off. The sting told me that I was supposed to be sad, but I had my dad...

"I didn't bring them home. I never break my promises." I looked over to my dad, the ship taking off in front of me the heat blaring far away to me. I felt it on my skin. I felt the waves of it. Kind of like Sebbe's fire..

"They've got each other." He whispered.

I looked up at my dad, then he stepped away, dropping a hand off my shoulder, "Where are you going?" I asked, confusion plastered on my face.

"I'm going back to my family."

I'm your family.

I tried to follow him, but my feet were stuck to the dark floor. I couldn't move. I couldn't hear anything. I couldn't see anything but darkness.

Everything—Everyone was gone.

"Dad!?" I shouted, "Sebbe!? Aura!?" I fell to my knee's, a hand on the dark floor. When I fell, a tear did too, reflecting up at me, then I saw another face inside of it.

"Clem?.." I whispered, looking up. And sure enough, there was Clem, looking down at me with pity in his eyes.

Don't look at me like that..

"Clem, what happened!? I thought you were on the ship!?" I was happy he was there, but I didn't want him to not be with his sister. To not meet his destination.

He shrugged and held his hand out to me.

I looked at it blankly, but took it the second it dawned on me. He pulled me up from the ground, my heart racing in my chest from fear and hope.

He nodded to the darkness, and tugged me along. My feet weren't stuck anymore.

I followed behind Clem into the darkness, the dark suddenly became white, and then—

❧"Quest!" Aura shouted, startling me awake.

"Yeah! Hello! Hi! What did I do?!" I shouted back, startled and barely sober. I yawned, and stretched my arms out over the desk.

I must have fallen asleep in the chair..

"Did you stay here all night?" She asked and crossed her arms over her chest.

After I rubbed my eyes, I looked up at her my hair frizzy and in the way of my vision.

"Uh, yeah, I think.." I scratched the back of my neck.

She huffed, sighing, "Here. Sebbe said you wanted to have a look at this? Can you make another device? Or figure out how it works exactly?" She held out a silver and black lined gun. It was more smooth than rough when I felt it's skin. It was heavy but light. It had a nice barrel and even a good handle for any size hand.

It didn't look like a normal gun, though.

"I think I can, if I can figure out what parts it has.." I blinked the blurry out of my eyes, standing up, then looked out the window.

Still dark..

it's always dark in space.

"Go put it up, I'm making toast. We gathered so many supplies yesterday, I might as well of brung back a whole store!" She grinned to herself and left the room.

I think I got some stuff done last night. No one was headed our way, which is good. We won't have to worry about running head first into someone mid sore and battling or anything.

I started off to my room, Sebbe in the kitchen talking to Aura. Clem must still be asleep.

I sighed, entering my room, and putting the gun in a drawer. I changed into some normal clothes for the day, a quick pair of skin tight jeans, black boots, and a black tank top with a fitting red jacket.

What can I say? Black and red suit my skin color and hair!

I ran my hands through my hair, brushed my teeth, and fixed my complexion with some water to the face.

Patting the water off with a towel, I headed out of the room. If I was going to face everyone again, I needed to look confident in myself. I don't regret anything I'd done, and I won't act as if I do.

I heard talking from the kitchen, it sounded like Sebbe, Aura, and Clem all together.

Considering they were all together, this would be a good time to ask what supplies and food they had gotten from the village before we left.

If I got to that.

My boots clicked along the floor, everyone falling silent when I got in their presence.

Aura didn't avoid her gaze and Clem tried to slip away through the door. Sebbe started to laugh and said, "C'mon! What's with everyone. What would you've done? Watched? Cmon. That was a badass move, Quest!" Sebbe laughed, patting my shoulder.

I grinned and nodded, "Thanks." Unraveling my tail from my shirt, I let it sway behind me. It was nice to know I had it from the confines if I ever needed it. Considering Rawn is still on this ship, I don't think I'll be putting it away until he's gone.

Aura hummed and nodded, "He's not completely wrong, Clem.." She said in a hushed tone, "He was protecting you."

Clem turned to face Aura, glaring into her eyes with his own golden orbs.

"Okay." I heard Sebbe cut in again, "Let's just—Have some toast and water, and think of the plan for Rioko." I nodded to him and patted his back, sending him back over to Aura. While Aura fixed buttered toast for us all, I started to talk.

"When we get there, I'm going for my father. I can only imagine he's in the higher ups. He's smart. He's got to be somewhere where he could find mom..... He could possibly be on ship duty." I added.

Clem locked eyes with me, lifting a brow then looking to Aura and Sebbe. He was asking what they were going to do in the mean time.

"You guys..... You'll be dealing with Rawn." The room went still. "Unless you want me to." I added.

Clems head fell. Aura looked back to meet my eyes, "I've got'm." Sebbe spoke quickly. "I've been wanting to smash his face in. I'll take'm." He turned to me and gave a thumbs up before he shoved toast in his face.

Clem started off to his room. Aura nodded for me to follow him, and I did. I needed to talk to him. Make sure he was alright. Hope he wasn't traumatized and scared of me.

Gain his trust back.

"Clem." I said, putting my hand out to stop his door from shutting. I stepped in and shut it behind me, "Look, I know. I didn't know what the hell I was doing yesterday, and I'm sorry. I didn't want you to see that—" I was talking too fast, my thoughts racing in a circle.

Clem only stared, watching, and running his eyes over me in an observing way.

"I'm sorry.." I repeated, "But I don't regret what I did. I'd do it again if I had to. And I don't feel comfortable with Rawn on the ship with you on it too. You guys are my first priority, and if you want to hate me or think wrong of me for defending you from someone who wants to kill you-then—" Something cut into my thoughts. My mouth shutting, and eyes going wide.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

My thoughts calmed, and I could only blink.

"What?"
