Chapter 126 - Chapter 126: No More Questions

~ "You knew I was at the island restaurant and burned it down!" I retorted not knowing if I was asking or questioning him. Or if I was just saying it out of terror. I was shocked enough that my mouth dropped open looking out his window.

"I gave the order," Cory said in this most terrifying yet serious voice. "I've told you before nobody will ever get away with touching my fiance! I meant it when I told you if anyone did they will pay greatly."

Roger's Island restaurant was flattened and burned down to nothing! It's entirely leveled and still slightly smoking. I couldn't believe he ordered his men to burn it down to nothing. I can't believe he meant what he told! Seeing the power he held was an eye-opener for me. Surely Cory wasn't a Primary King to cross. Is that why he drove me out this way, was to show me what he can do?

"Did you drive me out here to make a point?" I boldly asked him. Meanwhile, he remained quiet and didn't shift a glimpse at me.

He was thinking if maybe I did but at the same time, I didn't. He trusted his men to do the job but he still wanted to see the damage himself, he thought. Indeed, he was pleased but if he executed it his way. The whole block would've been gone. Since the commoners owned each of those businesses. But Nick was in a hurry to save his bride and did only what needed to be done. By the end of it, I was satisfied with Nick's decision and drove on.

While he was seemingly ignoring me. About a million questions popped into my head. I wondered what happened to Sabrina and Roger. Then again what those two did to me. They probably got what they deserved. But I still couldn't help it and felt remorse for them. Maybe it was a better idea to not know.

Seeing what construction Cory can cause made me realize I've taken my chances with him. What if I push it too far myself? But I just can't break my fear! Like I can't shake the feeling that I know he's hiding something more from me. Why would I be made into being the firstborn tubebaby Princess? On top of it who put the tracker in me and why? Cory seemed to be a hybrid man of secrets, likely, I'll never know. Unless I figure out a way to find answers myself. Oh, gosh! How am I ever going to get out of this wedding?

Somehow while driving in what seemed to be forever. I fall asleep and woke back up to find we were still diving. My mind was distorted but I saw the box still in my hands.

"Sleep well?" Cory asked, making me turn my head to him.

"How much further until we reach this new mansion?" I asked sitting up in my seat some.

Seemingly concentrating on his driving. "Not too much farther. Besides, we have only been driving for about forty-nine minutes and you only been sleeping for about twenty minutes." Cory informed.

"I'm not used to being in a car," I said being serious. "It felt like I slept longer than that!"

Cory glanced at me snickering and then stared back onto the roadway. "Yeah, I can see that." He told. "You're in shock so you mentally shut down from it. But you'll be ok."

Well, since he reminded me of what happened. Questions started coming back but I had unsureness. If I should engage with this topic but my mind was going crazy.

"Can I ask you a question involving the island restaurant?" I decided to ask anyway.

But then I kinda regretted it when I noticed he took a breath like he didn't like questions or something. "Depends on your question I might have an answer." Cory coldly responded.

His expressions remained blank like a white sheet of paper. This was kinda the first time he showed her his true colors. With how he felt about questions. He didn't like being cold but at the same time she needs to learn not to ask certain questions, he thought.

"Why would another woman be involved with kidnapping?" I asked a little thrown off by this weird attitude he was giving me.

He takes a deep breath in and out while staring at the road with blankness. "Because she's trying to keep herself and maybe her community from ever being sold. If I had to guess. I'd say they have been abducting other women for a while now, and possibly children too. Now no more questions about this. The situation was handled it's time to move on from it." Cory retorted giving his final say. Yet, he was hoping he didn't sound too harsh to her. But all well if he did. Maybe she'll take the hint, he thought, and he'll work on showing her what he feels for her.

I only took in a deep breath and let it out deciding it was best I looked out my window. His hostile behavior seemed risky to ask him anything right now. I'd rather not push my luck. I mean despite his warning I ran away today. And even went through his weapons but he didn't hurt me for crossing him. So I am in great relief for that. Since he's edgy, I rather not give him any more reasons for him to punish me.

"Here we are to your new home." Randomly Cory said in a calm sense. Indeed, he was happy to be under his roof over his dad's. This was the place of his domain where he made the rules, he thought.
