Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: The Tiny Note

~ I sat dazed at my vanity staring at myself in the mirror. Where he just left me here to my thoughts. Which I didn't know what to think. Between each sentence, his words disturbed me. Especially when he mentioned his enemies. I mean how am I supposed to respond to that!

Goodness, his moods are so lopsided. One minute he was charming and seems to care about me. Then the next second he's snappy and makes his verbal threats. He gets effortlessly controlling and overbearing with me.

Oh gosh! This could be a bond connection he's feeling for me or maybe it's an obsession to have me. Obsessions are known to be dangerous for a woman.

Either way, he's being territorial and over domineering with me. So it can be hard to distinguish if this is an obsession or imprint developing. Or it's neither and it's only his true temperament.

Oh my goodness, this is a nightmare! I found the tracker so I need to get out of here!

No ring on my finger means I am not his bride yet. Nor has there been a wedding to make me marry him. I still have time to cut this tracker out of me and get as far away from him as I can!

I mean honestly! How am I going to be a Primary Queen? I inwardly asked. I barely know anything about Kingdoms except for how ruthless they can be. Regardless, of Cory appearing kind to his people. Nevertheless, I just don't trust it!

I can't wrap my head around this anymore and need a mental hiatus.

So I peeked down at the box to carefully open it and reveal the egg inside. But something else grabbed my attention. I discovered there was a folded note wedged in at the top of the lid. So I carefully took it off the top without touching the egg and unfolded it.

My eyes wander on the note for a second to realize it was written in a different language.

Of course, I didn't know how to read it. Wonder if anyone in the Kingdom would know how to read it, I contemplated. And stood up from my seat and walked down the hallway lightly into the living room.

My heart pounded up past my throat. When I found Cory working on his laptop positioned on his lap. As his eyes traveled my way. Like he heard my light tiptoe on the carpet. Upon making eye contact with those gorgeous marble green eyes of his. My heart feels this electrifying pull towards his way. I didn't understand what was going on what me. It felt like these invisible butterflies were fluttering up to my chest.

"Is something on your mind?" He asked softly waiting for my reply.

At first, I just stood here dumbfounded by this strange magnetic pull between our eyes. I blinded twice trying to clear my stuffy throat. "I found this note inside the box you gave," I managed to mumble. "But it's written in a different language. Would you happen to know the language on it?"

First Cory placed his laptop on the coffee table to the front of him. "Yes I can read it," He said motioning for me to come to sit next to him by patting the cushion with his flat palm.

Gradually, I stride his way and take a seat next to him. My hands slightly shake giving him the note to read. He smiled faintly taking it from my fingertips. My throat felt like it sealed off again. When I swallowed down my saliva. I was trying my best not to shudder.

Meanwhile, he leaned back more comfortably chilled and unfolded the note. His eyes make cycles around it for a second like he was familiarizing what he already read once before. He showed no strain in his eyes. His expression showed to be relaxed and mellowed. Weirdly his relaxed state was calming my nervousness to sit next to him. As his defined jawline flexed open.

"It states about the rarity of the egg. It's found within the mountains on a different unknown planet from ours. The mountains on this planet were dazzled in beautiful gems and some of those gems weren't a gem but a dragon stone egg. But over time the mountains' gems faded and the gems turned to dust and no more eggs were formed. The eggs had gone entirely extinct. And the beauty of the mountains was no more. This Dragon egg gemstone was one of the last of its Kind. That's what the note says." He clarified and looks back at me.

"How did your brother's family find it." I curiously asked since it was rarer than, I speculated.

He answered with a warm delighting smile. "My brother's family found it in their market on their home planet and traded for it. They felt it was a perfect gift for me with taking reign over the Kingdom. The unhatched infant dragon inside is known to hatch more for hybrid-women over hybrid-men. I've already tried to get it to hatch for me but it didn't hatch. I was told there isn't a guarantee it would even hatch. It kinda has to choose you. It's little different compared to mind-linking."

"I don't know too much about mind-linking to a creature," I mentioned suddenly remembering that black wolf creature with Cory and his men. "But this egg is interesting, so why give it to me since it's so rare?" I asked not bringing up that wolf I remembered seeing.

Cory replied, "I wouldn't think so since hybrid-woman and a handful of hybrid-men can't mind link anyways. But I'll explain mind-linking at another time. But to answer your question. This is my gift to you for becoming my future Primary Queen. I am giving it to you because I understand you are afraid and you don't want to be here. And I know you don't wish to marry me. Giving you this, I hope it could give you some form of comfort if it hatches for you. Then you'll have yourself a pet. Or just a beautiful stone decoration to add to your vanity."

I had nothing to say after that response. Now I knew he understood what I was feeling but yet it was aggravating he was forcing me to marry him.

Instead of arguing it out from his pleasant tone, I asked. "How did you learn different languages?"

"From traveling around different universes." He answered with this happy complexion. "You pick up on things fast."

Which made me wanna ask him more. I was finding myself becoming curious about this dangerous hybrid-man, I didn't know.

"Why do you travel?" I asked trying to learn maybe more about him.

Now this time he was reserved and didn't answer. He had suddenly become avoidant with me. He leaned forward to the coffee table sighing.

"It's almost time for you to start getting ready for the party." He said shutting down his laptop then snapping the lid closed. "I'm sending Maria up here to help you."

He just stands up walking over to the door about ready to leave. I was livid by his action and unwillingness to answer anything I asked.

I stood up stern and barked at him, "Why don't you ever answer my questions? You want me to trust you! Yet, I feel like you have secrets from me!"

Now he took his hand off the door nob, Cory said coldly turning back to confront me. "You are to be my wife and as my wife, you will respect what I wish for you to know! Some things you are better off not knowing! In fact, the less you know the better off you'll be!"

Hearing this only increased my flared anger as I ignorantly waved my arms around yelling. "So that's it! All you Kingdom men do is shower your women with gifts and give them all that they want! But they aren't to ask questions or get in your way!"

Cory backs away from the door and walked promptly up to me. Now showing his blackening complexion. Those dazzling eyes of his now narrowed at me viciously. He prowed at me like a deadly lion wanting to make sure his authority was known. Testing his waters I could read he didn't like disobedience. He liked to be the one in control and would likely squish anyone who tried to take it from him.

"That is correct! And you will learn your place just as the other women from my Kingdom!" He lashed out.

But I stood my ground and showed that feisty side of mine. I will not submit to such a man like Cory!

"I will not be bought like that!" I spat out loudly giving him my warning, "If you make me marry you! I will not keep quiet!"
