The night air was chilly and it lifted Madison's dark locks, making them slightly float in the wind. She kept feeling chills on her arms but resisted the urge to rub them up and down. Instead, she willed all her energy into interrogating Nick who still stood with his back to the wall, staring down at her with a smug smirk on his face.
"Spit it out, Nick," she glared at him, "What are you up to?"
"You're feisty for a small thing."
Madison arched an eyebrow before grabbing his collar with both her hands, her self-defense classes training coming to the front, and pushing him further into the wall. He flinched before raising his arms in defense.
"Alright, fine fine fine."
She put him down, ignoring the ache in her arms from his weight and he straightened his suit jacket, "So violent. I'll talk."
"So, I'm guessing your genius self has figured out what are parents are trying to do?"
"So, you're not a complete egghead? Good to know."
