Chapter 15 - Chapter 14

Wedding Day Preparation's Bridal Rituals

Tegwen woke up early in the morning before the sun could rise any higher, she uncovered herself as she stepped out of bed. She could feel the cold wooden floor against her bare feet; she walked to the window and silently watched the sun rise. Tegwen always enjoyed looking at both sunset and sunrise, the different colors made her feel calm and truly happy. She was happy that her chambers were in the right position to see it every day, she then began to wonder if she would be able to see it in Norway when they leave. She truly hoped she still would be able to see both the sunset and sunrise; she began to feel her stomach flutter with nerves, she is to be married today. Tegwen felt the warmth of the sun's rays touch her pale skin as it hits the castle windows.

"My lady are you awake?" A voice asked from behind the oak door. "Yes, you may enter Mary." Tegwen responded as she stayed where she was. The door opened slowly as Mary and a couple other servants walked in. Two of the servants that came in with Mary began to take the comforter and the silk sheets off the bed for washing. Tegwen paid no mind to them as she continued to look out of her window, "My lady, are you alright?" Mary asked from behind her as she brought Tegwen back to reality. "Yes, I am well." She responded quickly sparing a glance at her servant. Mary though did not buy that and looked at the princess before walking closer. "You know your highness; you can always talk to me. I have always been the shoulder for you to lean on and keep your secrets." She said softly as she knelt down in front of the princess. Tegwen looked up at Mary as she looked into her soft brown eyes and smiled a little. "I suppose I am scared of what is to be come. What if I do not please him? What if he no longer wishes to marry?" Tegwen asked with her brow furrowed.

"Your highness, you will do fine to please him and he would be a fool to throw someone like you away. You are kind and have a big heart; most of all you care for your people. Now come the bath is ready let's get you ready." Mary replied with a smile on her face. Tegwen stood up and walked to the tub behind Mary. The other two servants came from beside her and one began to unbraid her hair as the other started to take the nightgown off of the princess. Tegwen walked into the tub feeling the warm water hit her skin, she sighed in content as she smelled the floral scent that the oils in the water gave off. Mary grabbed the jug that was off to the side as she began to was Tegwen's hair.
