Months had passed faster than what I expected it to. It was like a brief whirlwind of surprises which made me felt so many realizations. It consumed me for so many nights.
Dion find out my application for a position in the firm. He did not expect it, but he accepted my application. He gave me the assistant of the operations manager position. I told him I was willing to get a much lower position than that, but he insisted.
I attend work when I don't have classes. He offered to take me to the firm on my work schedules. Although school has been tough these months because we're already graduating, I did not worry for it too much.
"Put on your seat belt." He's staring at my over all look when he said that. He looks very uncomfortable with what I am wearing. I just shrugged it off because I was very busy looking at myself in the mirror.
"I won't be able to go home with you tonight. I'm going to meet my friend Aya." I was applying my lipstick when I answered.
He already started the car's engine. "Where will you two meet? I'll drive you there."
"No need. Sean will drive me there."
I was very oblivious of his reactions because I am entertaining myself of the views in the city. It is totally different from the views I am frequently seeing in the province.
There are so many tall buildings and skyscrapers all around. Billboards and LED screens are flashing from here to there. There is no space. People flock from different areas, and the traffic is suffocating.
My eyes are overwhelmed with so many things to see, but I am not totally amazed. The city only shines for me through night. When it is like this that the sun had completely lightened the whole place, it feels shallow.
"Who is Sean?"
I was caught off guard when he suddenly asked.
"He's our operations manager."
He doesn't even know his own employee! It just proves to me that he's not paying attention to people around him. What an ass!
"So you're calling each other on a first name basis?" his brows are furrowed and his eyes are dim.
"We were calling each other like that when we're off from work." I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
He cleared his throat before speaking. "I am just seeing a lack of professionalism, so I am complaining."
Tss. Professionalism your ass! You don't even call me Ms. Arfiyaz! How could you complain with a lack of professionalism between others when you can't even perform it?!
"Oh please, my day is perfectly fine so don't you dare ruin it."
I can sense his stares even if I am completely looking at the window. "Text me when you're going home."
The city is really beautiful at night. I have already seen it many times. I have always enjoyed staring at it while going home after a long night.
My job as an assistant isn't very tiring. I guess they are giving me less work to do because I am the real owner of the company. I don't mind it, though. I also have a lot of works to do from school, so I really need an adjusted time for it.
I know this isn't a good timing to work and study simultaneously but I want to start learning the company's operation as soon as possible.
Aya and Sean are my newly acquired friends. Aya is Sean's secretary. While I am Sean's assistant. Aya is a very charming girl with full of positivity just like Sean. They are fun to be with. In fact, they always save me when Dion gets mad for my small mistakes in the company.
"If you're saying that Dion currently lives with you, then doesn't it feel awkward for the both of you?" Aya asked after sipping on her cappuccino frappe.
"No. We already get used to it. It's not as if we're sleeping in the same room!" I laughed my heart out loud after my remark.
Sean looked at me curiously while Aya seems a bit anxious of my answer.
"Hey guys! Will you stop imagining things? Dion has a girlfriend okay? He won't obviously fall for me. Stop it you two. You're giving me chills." I acted as if I am completely against it just to prove the idea.
Hell yeah. I am a great liar.
"If he has a girlfriend, then who is she and why is she not seen often with Dion?" Aya asked again.
Oh gosh! She has so many questions! But is it real that they still haven't seen Dion with her?
"I don't know her personally, but her name is Lyn." I answered.
After I hear her name from my own lips, I immediately remember the night when Dion unconsciously keeps on mentioning her. He was calling her in deep sadness. I don't know what he exactly feels at that moment but if he is really sad, I also feel the same way he did that night.
It was already ten in the evening when we got interrupted by a phone call. And it was my phone that keeps on ringing with Dions name in the caller ID.
"Who is it?" Sean asked.
"Ah, it's Dion." I wanted to shrug it off, but it seems like Aya got the idea already.
"He's already looking for you? What time is it by the way?" she immediately looked at her phone and gasped.
"Oh my gosh! We should go home. My father's coming home tonight!" she squealed in anxiety.
"Yeah. We better get going." Sean smiled at me. I know he's thinking of driving me to my house, but I don't know now if it's a good idea.
Especially that I just received a message from Dion.
Dion:
Are you going outside now or do I still need to drag you out of there?
We started walking out of the restaurant and headed to the parking lot. I am already getting nervous now that we're still walking at the hallway of the mall.
"Sean...uhm, Dion will pick me up tonight..."
"Oh! Is he here already?" He looked around hoping to see Dion, and I also did the same thing.
That, I don't know. I really have this poor sight when it comes to crowded places like these. I just wish he's just on the parking lot.
We walked passed one stall from another until we reached the elevator. My phone keeps on ringing and it really annoys me that I just turned it off. It embarrasses me that Sean is already staring at me as if he's more concerned about my situation.
"Why won't you answer it?" Sean asked.
"It's fine. I'm sure he can wait." I awkwardly answered.
He nodded and stayed still at my side while we're waiting for the elevator to reach the ground floor. Aish! That man! He's really pissing me off!
When we finally reached the parking lot, Aya waved us goodbye when she already saw where her car was parked. I was left with Sean who's also looking around and helping me to find Dion.
"Are you sure he's already here?" Sean asked. I just nodded because I was already pre-occupied on finding his car.
After a long while of searching, a black Maserati parked on our left side. It's tinted windows opened and Dion get out sporting his office attire.
He looks really pissed and impatient while surveying my whole body.
"Get inside."
His voice was marked with finality. I was left with no choice but to follow him and waved my hand a little at Sean. He bitterly smiled back and waved his hands to say goodbye too. Dion immediately reached for the driver's seat and maneuvered his car as fast as he could.
What he did was really rude. It was embarrassing because I feel like a young girl who cheated on her curfew. All I could do was to stay quiet, so I can pull my anger and prevent myself to burst out my irritation at him.
"Why aren't you answering my calls?" He said, starting our usual way of fight.
"My phone died." I answered back, looking at the window to hold my patience.
The beauty of the city is now very evident. The lights from the buildings, cars and lamp posts are highlighting the place. It looks very busy. The moon is in full blast, and the stars are perfectly scattered. It is beautiful, indeed.
Yet, I am here on a surge of another fight with him.
"I'm sure you did saw my texts."
Tss!
"Will you stop being so stubborn?"
Stubborn your ass! Look at you driving all the way here when I said Sean could just drive me home!
"Talk to me. Don't tell me you're already murdering me on your mind because I disturbed your sweet talks with our operations manager?"
What the hell?!
