Chapter 9 - Dream

True to his words, he picked me up from school after his work. With so much excitement, I even brought clothes for me to change, so I could fit with his attire from work. I matched my beige strapped sandals with a white cuffed sleeve dress.

"Which beach are we going?" I excitedly asked. He said he reserved a table in a restaurant on a beach resort.

"Somewhere in the Capital."

Capital is a city next to us which is very popular with its famous beaches. Our company is located in the Arch, a sister city of Capital, Centre and Prime. While our mansion is in Nigh, a province near the Arch.

This will be my first time going to the Capital. I have always wanted to go on one of its beaches, but I have never had the time and company to do so. It's Dion who invited me there, so who am I to neglect this once in a lifetime offer?

When we reached the destination, my eyes had never stopped wandering the place over and over again. It really looks amazing. The white fine sand, the turquoise waters and the salty smell of the sea. Everything is perfectly suited for the place.

"Do you like it here?" he asked.

I nodded. Still overwhelmed by the view of the place.

"Good. We're staying here for days." After he had said that, he picked something up from the back compartment of his car.

I moved forward to take a peak, and he surprisingly revealed two duffel bags from it. He headed towards the front desk of the lobby with me following him in disbelief.

I couldn't imagine how he managed to prepare for this when I don't even notice him doing a single thing. I was his great stalker! I watched his every move in the mansion. How the hell did this one slipped away from my sight?

Ahh! I wanted to cry in so much excitement!

"I have a reservation." He placed a black card on the front desk's marbled counter. Leaning his arms to it and waiting patiently.

However, he's very oblivious with the kind of attention he's getting from the staffs that it made me impatient. I couldn't even describe how many eyes he's getting to watch over him the moment we entered this hall.

"I see you reserved two deluxe rooms Mr. Montaleon. Is she your sister?" the girl staff asked.

I swear I have never been this upset receiving hospitality in my entire life. This is the first time, and I don't even want to experience this again.

"Can we just get our key cards?" My eyebrow raised as my thread of patience raptured.

The girl's lips twitched in dismay at me. She pulled off two cards from a drawer and placed it on the counter harshly. She smiled at Dion, but she never said anything again.

Dion looks like he doesn't care at all so he gets the cards shamelessly and walks away looking for the elevator. While I am still standing in front of the girl with an irritated smirk on my face.

"Just so you know, I am not his sister." you ugly wench!

I turned my back at her and followed Dion with a disappointment.

"What took you so long?" he asked.

"Nothing."

The room we had was nice. It's so refreshing for my sight. He had texted me to settle my things first before we ate dinner together. I did what he said as fast as I could and meet him at the hallway.

He looks very neat and handsome, I could never mistake him for someone who's native in our country. He reeks of foreign features that made him stand out in the eyes of every woman he would have encountered.

"Let's go?" he asked and I nodded.

The restaurant he had chosen served us fascinating dishes. I ate and drink with all my heart out because of so much happiness.

Of course, it was just one of these times that he shows his gentleness and sweetness to me. Like he could never hurt me and just give me his pure care.

"Are you having difficulties with your schedules?" he asked.

"Not really. The staffs are giving me so much favor." I smiled.

"Don't abuse your position. Do your job as professional as possible." Here he goes again with the professional thing. Aish!

"I'm not. I'm doing good. I don't even work overtime." I bragged.

"Because you're just playing around."

"What? You're accusing me without evidence! I'm doing my work as fast as I could." I laughed with my reasons.

He also laughed a bit and it's already enough to make my whole world stopped. I really don't know what made him think of treating me this way. He just changed unexpectedly.

"By any chance, do you hang out often with that... Sean?" he suddenly asked.

"Hmm..." I nodded without a care.

"Then, is he courting you?"

I immediately shake my head as many times as I could. "Of course not!"

Our conversation went on and on. It felt surreal that I have never imagined being with him and talking to him like this for hours in a very unexpected place.

But times like this have to be treasured while it lasts. For no one can ever predict when it will end...

His phone rang with an unusual ringtone. I have never heard of it before and judging from the look on his face, he also did not expect it.

He looked pale and shocked. He was stunned while watching his phone ringing. It stopped us both as if we both know who's the caller is. And I can only guess, but I don't want to assume who is it.

He uncomfortably changed his position and picked up his phone. I tried my very best to control my reaction, so I just patiently waited if he will answer it or not. To add my cover up, I continued eating as if it never made me bothered.

Until he answered it.

"Yes?" he spoke with his baritone voice.

And he stood up. That was the time when I already accepted that my guess was true.

Dion mouthed something to me that he wanted to take the call outside the restaurant so I willingly nodded. I smiled and signaled him to go. Like how I let him be for always.

I eat until all that is left is the wine bottle with half of the wine empty. I diverted my attention to it. The waiter willingly served it for me. And when it's already empty, I ordered another one.

He's really taking his time, huh?...

I am very thankful for the waiter who served me that moment. It was my plan to call him up, but I think he saw what I would like to do. I doubt if I would stand waiting there without someone beside me. I might end up losing my mind, so it was a great cover up. I get to control myself.

"How is it, Ma'am?" the waiter asked me.

"It's great!" I answered as I sipped on it.

He smiled and nodded. I smiled too.

"Are you still single?" I joked with him.

"I already have a girlfriend, Ma'am."

"Too bad." He laughed at my remark.

Dion returned with an apologetic look on his face. Though, I welcomed him again with a huge smile.

"Who is it?"

"It's..."

"Lyn?" I continued what he couldn't.

"What did she say?" I asked as if I am really curious.

"How do you know--"

"You told me about her." I said even if he never did. I heard it, you m*therf*cker.

"I never--" his brows are furrowed with curiosity but I cut him off.

"You did. So what did she say?" I asked changing the topic. He looked uncomfortable talking about it, but I really wanted him to answer, so I insisted.

"She's...coming back from States."

My eyes widened. "That's great! When?"

"She's here already."

Right now?! Really? What's a great news to ruin my day.

"Will you pick her up? Can I come?"

I swallowed every pride and cowardice I have to say those simple words. Because the truth is, I'm scared of it. I fear for it every time.

"No... I... I can handle it."

"Hmm... Okay. Let's finish this then. I'm already tired." I said as I wiped my lips with the napkin on my lap.

"Alright."

By that, he motioned the servers to clean everything up. We leave the place and returned to our rooms quietly. I locked my door in full silence and he let me do it without saying any single word. As soon as I locked my door, I heard his footsteps running away as if he's already too late.

He left without saying something just like how he came to my life without giving me time for preparedness.

Once again, I endured the pain all alone.
