Chapter 8 - Legend

Alexandrite

I woke up and could hear hushed voices conversing around me. My body was aching, and the pain was so intense that I was finding it difficult to focus on anything. I tried to open my eyes, but darkness still surrounded. Panic was bubbling in my chest accompanied by a scream as well. I raised my hand to my face and felt my anxiety ease a bit when I discovered that there was a cloth over my face.

"It's a bandaged up dear so that you could heal faster", a warm woman's voice answered my unasked question.

I was scared where the fuck was I? Who was she?

"Don't move", she said gently to me. My heart was now racing, and my body temperature suddenly shot up.

"I'm too hot, I'm burning help me please!", I screamed desperately. A few moments I felt cooling pads on me, but it wasn't enough.

The head bandages were removed, and I found myself in a hospital room. He was there. The scream form earlier threatened to escape once more when my eyes had rested on him momentarily, but I had to focus on my body that was burning me from the inside out.

"It's not working!" I shouted anxiously. The cooling pads were heating up from my body heat. They then brought in a bathtub filled with ice and water. All the while Jax just stood in a corner watching with an impulsive expression on his face.

I felt drawn to him somehow, but I was so scared of him at the same time. Logic was screaming for me to focus on the fear.

Once I was in the tub, I felt my body cool down. It felt nice.

"What's happening to me?", I asked teeth chattering even though my body was feeling cool.

"I need to explain something to you", said a husky deep voice that came from the man who was sitting on a chair. I hadn't noticed him initially. He had the same eyes as Jax and was wearing a black sweat suit. His hair unlike Jax's was jet black.

The petite lady doctor seemed to be in on it too, so if I decided to scream it would not do anything, I would be wasting the bit of energy I had left.

"My name is Jeremih Nikolaev and I was the previous Alpha of the Dissension pack. My son whom I believe you have met; Jaxon is the new Alpha of our pack and I am now an elder."

"He bit me", I croaked touching the spot on my neck and wincing from the pain.

Jeremih gave me a forced smile that was laced with annoyance. I decided that the rationale thing to do would be to just listen to whatever explanation these people were going to give me and not interrupt.

"We will get to that later. Humans such as yourself, live alongside a race known as werewolves. We have lived with you for so long without you finding out about us because upon first there are no differences between us. Some wolves live amongst you as humans and these are known as neutrals. Other wolves belong to one of the five packs in our kingdom. These packs are known as dissension, our pack, vitality, devotion, virtue, and adrenalin.

We the elders as well as our fellow pack members, are led by the Alpha, my son here and his mate the Luna".

He paused for a bit at that point, and I glanced at Jax who was now concentrating on the floor. His face was expressionless.

"The Alpha and the Luna are monarchs of sorts, with the elders being you could say sub monarchs. We watch over our packs and rule over the people. Most people are born into a pack, whereas others move into them.

We as the monarchs take care of our citizens and our affairs. The different packs are divided according to their groundings, beliefs, and principles. Our pack the Dissension pack is concerned with retribution and equality.

We tend to argue a lot to come to an equitable and fair ruling. When major issues arise, anywhere in the world, they are brought before us, regardless of where the issues stem from or which pack, they will have occurred in.

The vitality pack is founded on healing and meditation. People seek that pack to aid them in medical issues.

The virtue pack is concerned with morality. Therefore, people who define themselves according to their morals form part of this pack. There are different moral subgroups in that pack but fundamentally their morals are what they value the most and band them all together as a pack.

The devotion pack is founded on love and joy and passion people who aspire to hold these attributes as their foundations belong to that pack and lastly the adrenalin pack is our army pack you could say. This pack is comprised of warriors and they work closely with us.

Now there is a third type of wolf, I have told you about neutrals, and wolves that belong in packs; these other wolves are called rogues, they are not a pack. They are not a part of any of the 5 packs or aligned with humans. They are not grounded on any principles or rules. They generally cause chaos and attack and kill whomever they please.

Nobody really knows or understands why they are the way that they are. When wolves come of age, they are given a choice no matter where they are born.

For example, if a wolf is born in the human world and they are informed about our five kingdoms they can chose to join the vitality pack if they please. Once they have joined the pack they are informed of the ways of the pack. Your heart and soul sort of buy into the values of the pack you join.

Alternatively, if it were the other way round, in an instance where a pack member becomes a human world member, they assimilate. At first, they are able to shift as they please, but because of the environment and atmosphere of the human world differs to that of our packs they lose this ability over time.

We have animal natures, so we need open spaces and fields to fully exercise this nature. That is why we live parallel to humans.

The wolves that decide to assimilate still have the werewolf gene and can pass it on to the next generation. If they have a pup, by law they must allow the pup who is usually a half-breed, but can be a pure wolf, to choose where they want to spend their live when they come of age. We do not discriminate against these members of our species.

There is a rogue group called dark vengeance. They killed the Alpha and family of the devotion pack, so we are very conscious of our security.

As I mentioned earlier when one chooses the pack or the world, they want to make their home, they change on the inside.

We assume that because the rogues do not stand on anything and are not allegiant to anyone or anything it corrupts them and makes them go insane."

"Why are you telling me all this?", I asked confused. I wanted to tell him it all sounded like fictitious Twilight bullshit, but I refrained from doing so once I saw the serious expression on his face. They really took all of this quite seriously.

He was quiet for a moment and scratched his head and looked at Jax who was still gazing at the floor intently.

"I am informing you of this because... an Alpha is either born one or becomes one after killing the previous Alpha. For an Alpha to have complete power he needs a Luna.

For one to become a Luna, the woman needs to be bitten by an Alpha. Once she is bitten, she is joined and seen as one with the Alpha. They become inseparable and connected on a deeper level.

Their emotions and feelings and strengths and weaknesses become known to each other once they consummate their bond."

The room was so silent that the only sound that could be heard was everyone's breathing and the beeping of the heart rate monitor.

All eyes were trained on me. I wanted to laugh at the ludicrousness of all of this. How could some werewolf monarch bite me and make me his queen? I am not a werewolf. I voiced the last part out loud.

"No, you are not", Jeremih responded after a while. "So why did you bite me?", I asked feeling exhausted directing my question at Jax.

Before I could get a response, I suddenly, felt my temperature dropping, my insides had cooled off and now I was just cold.

The beeping escalated on the heart rate monitor as my heart beat faster and faster trying to counteract the cold and bring up my temperature, but it was struggling to.

The next moment, I felt like I was engulfed in flames burning continuously with no end. It was pure agony the combination of the cold and the burning. "Jax"... I whispered before passing out with warms arms around me.

I woke up my body still aching but also feeling numb at the same time. The same people who had been in the room earlier were all there except for Jax.

"You are awake?", asked the doctor. "You have been coming in and out of consciousness for a while." She elaborated her question had not made sense at first.

I nodded and winced as I felt pain in my back. She upped my dosage of morphine to try and ease the pain. My thoughts and panic all just seemed to melt away as the drug took effect.

"Doctor you are from the vitality pack." I said meaning to ask her, but it all sounded the same. She nodded.

"That is correct Luna Alexandrite". She looked nervous after addressing me as a Luna. I felt Jeremih's steady gaze on me. I just giggled.

"Wait till Christophe and Ally hear that I'm a fucking queen bitch!"

I hummed to myself. Then I stopped.

"Where is the King, King Jax." I whined. "You know on Instagram I'm called King Xander .... Why can't we both be Kings?" I clapped my hands at the brilliance of the idea.

Then I giggled... "two alphas Alpha Jax and Alpha Xander, we shall reign with iron fists. Margret Thatcher will be dusty, dusty, dusty land ... compared to us. The Alpha duo."

I saw the corners of Jeremih's mouth curve up. Then I passed out again. I was out for a long time. When I became conscious, I heard everyone go quiet.

My body still hurt, and I felt nauseous. I hadn't eaten in a while, so I began to dry heave. It hurt so much because there was nothing to throw up.

After a while I was given some water which seemed to have calmed my stomach. I looked around and saw that it was only Jax and the Doctor. I remembered all the bullshit I had said while under the influence of morphine and felt like an idiot. I looked directly at Jax feeling myself drawn to him.

"It hurts make it stop". I mumbled.

He just looked at me with hooded eyes. His expression was neutral, l but his usually golden liquid eyes were dark. His eyes had dark spots underneath from lack of sleep. His stance was strong but tired. He sighed got up and left.

"Doctor how long have I been out for?" I questioned.

She looked unsure of whether to respond to me but then she said, "three days now." I gasped. Axel he had to be going insane.

I knew he cared even if he was an ass and we did not get along a lot of the time.

"I have to tell my dad that I'm okay I croaked "I have – " I was interrupted because at that moment, I began to heave again except this time a dark red liquid came up. I was in such intense pain I thought I would die. I felt myself being injected and then I went under.

Axel

It had now been four days that she was missing and there were no leads or clues except for her blood. All we knew was that she had been attacked by something strong but there were no tracks leading anywhere.

I could not sleep, eat, or work. Neither could Jade or anyone else in the house. We were all affected. It was funny how we had all lived in bliss without her but once we knew her, she had become a fixture in all our lives.

Even Alley who never got along with her was affected. We could not imagine a normal day without her.

I drank to try and numb the pain I felt from her loss and the fear of informing Jo. It was now 1 am and I was in my home office. I heard a knock on my door. It was the auburn-haired maid she seemed frazzled and shaken.

"Sir there is a young man outside with madam Alexandrite."

I got up and brushed past her and went to the entrance where the fountain was. There I saw a young boy about 20 with my daughter in his arms he looked tired but resolved.

My security was surrounding him. Alexandrite looked limp and weak in his arms. Something was wrong, but the boy was clutching her body as if his life depended on her. I rushed up to him.

"Axel Wolfgang?" he asked. I gave a slow nod. He looked thoughtful for a moment and then glanced down at Alexandrite's rigid form. She was taking shallow breaths. "Save her". With that he slid her into my arms and left.

The guards tried to apprehend him so that they could question him, but he beat them up and as more came out I instructed them to let him go.

He was taking down big burly men as if they were nothing. He did not look like he would stop beating them any time soon no matter how many of us there was against him.

I watched him walk away then yelled to get an ambulance. I would save my child not him but for my family and staff.
