First day of school? Huh, never thought I'd find myself here again and I've been homeschooled almost all my life, I thought with a sigh as Tessa parked on school grounds.
"Nervous?"
"More like totally hating this. I hate first days of school."
"Technically it is for you."
"Even worse. Eyes will be on the new girl and the last thing I need is stereotypes," I said grabbing my bag as she chuckled.
"Don't worry. You'll be fine. And besides you have me. I promised you a tour remember."
"Yeah, I remember."
Just as I said, there were the stares as much as I could care less about what people thought about me, there was still that creepy nagging voice at the back of my head making me anxious and I absolutely hated it. But nevertheless, if they couldn't tell the friendly smile on my face was almost fake. Calm down Diana. Just calm down, you've been in social scenes worse than being a new girl before it's not a big deal, I chastised myself feeling much more reassured as she walked with me to my locker.
"I'm sort of curious though. What's everyone doing down here?" I asked feeling myself strut beside her confidently.
"To see the new girl of course."
"Popular on the first day," I said sarcastically and she smiled shaking her head."Do you have somewhere you need to be?"
I blurted out and she looked surprised.
"What?"
"It's just that you look slightly preoccupied. It's fine. I'm almost there anyway," I said with a shrug and she looked conflicted.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Go ahead."
"If you need anything, just call me. Okay?"
"Yeah sure," I let out before we parted ways and I headed towards my locker before taking a look around and I refrained from rolling my eyes.
First day, and I figure most people don't have any work to do. I could always make a friend, after all a good first impression would be better that deciding to shove someone to the ground. Damnit, why did I listen to Eve's stupid ideas. I mean it would happen naturally wouldn't it and by naturally it means that somehow my clumsy self would somehow make a way to embarrass myself once the warning bell rang and people started dispersing to class.
"I'm sorry," both of us said as we dropped to pick up the books now lying on the floor before chuckling.
"I'm sorry. I was distracted."
"No worries. So was I," he said as I looked him over grabbing the last book from the floor.
"The Bourne Identity?"
"You've read it?" He asked shocked and I smiled.
"The series is actually among the first books I've ever owned," I said handing him the book and I could feel his curious gaze on me.
"You're the new girl, right?"
"Is it really that obvious?"
"Well, you are pretty. Have an impeccable sense of fashion or so I've heard. And you are the only other person I know who has read Jason Bourne so I'd say yeah."
"Oh no, no they are mistaken. This is a one day thing going on there. First impressions are everything," I said making him laugh.
"You're funny too and I'll say you nailed it."
"And here comes the dilemma. Should I be excited or rather offended when I'm probably stereotyped?"
"You'll be fine. I'm Chris, by the way."
"Diana."
"Anyway, I'd love for this to continue but we'll be late for class. See you around?"
"Sure."
So far so good it wasn't that bad.

"How's it going?" Tess asked finding me at my locker.
"So far so good, but I still hate school."
"Honey, no one loves school," a girl said behind her and I furrowed my eyebrows in slight confusion that Tess seemed to pick up on.
"Oh, Diana this is my best friend Jordan. Jordan this is Diana," Tess introduced us and I turned to her.
"Nice to meet you and I have to say love your boots. They are so cute," she squealed and I was immediately weirded out. This is what I get for letting Eve pack my bags. I missed my sweatpants and combat boots already.
"Umm, thanks," I said before some squeals reached us and we turned to the direction. "What's the commotion exactly?"
"Oh, that's what I was supposed to tell you. Ryder is back!?" Jordan said excitedly her highlighted brown locks sloshing around and my curiosity was piqued especially when I saw the expression on her Tess' face.
"Umm, who?"
"Ryder Stone. The dreamiest guy I've ever met," she fangirled and I could see Tess roll her eyes.
"What? You don't agree," I asked amused and a dark expression came across her face.
"Trouble is what he is. And trust me Diana if you want to survive in this school, you'll stay away from him or his crew."
"Okay?" I said uncertain yet amused.
"Oh, come on. She doesn't like him because he's got a 'reputation'. And she thinks he stole her best friend."
"Jordan!? That's not true and you know it," she said defensively seeming angry as the commotion grew louder. You'd think people would be busier than this on a Monday but no.
"But still, he's hot and I do mean hot. I can't believe he's back."
"Back? Back from where exactly?" I asked and they shared a look.
"You aren't from here exactly are you? Anyway, he's had a really bad rep for a while now, not that it makes him any less hotter or anything but last I heard he was in jail," Jordan said and my eyebrows shot up in surprise but in my opinion I hid it well, or tried to in the least.
"My point still stands, he's trouble."
"You mean he's a total bad boy."
"You don't want to get involved with him," tessa said to me, ignoring Jordan who just pouted.
"But you have to admit he's hot, a sight for sore eyes."
"You have to get over him Jordan."
"Just because he doesn't give any girl the time of day in matters of relationship, doesn't mean I can't ogle him."
"He's still a playboy you know. I don't want you to get hurt again," she said hugging her and I got the feeling their friendship ran deeper between them, emotionally in the least.
"I know, boo. But he's hot don't you agree?"
"Okay, fine. He's hot. Happy now?"
"Very," Jordan said and Tess rolled her eyes before she turned to me.
"But I'm serious, Diana. Watch your back."
"Okay. I'll take your word for it," I said and she beamed a smile at me before we headed to our next class.
