Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Birthday.

Louise's POV.

The weekend is here and as usualI have been lounging around in my apartment, when a knock sounds on the door. You open it to find....

"Lou, I'm guessing you haven't left your apartment today."

"What makes you say that."

"Because if you stepped outside, you would have noticed this on your doorstep."

Maya hands me a pristine display of red roses, with an envelope attached.

I grab the envelope from her before she can read the contents. It read:

My darling Louise,

I see you everyday, but I'm just bidding my time. No one will stop me when I am ready, not like last time.

Keep enjoying your last days of freedom.

J.M

Only one person signed like that.

Mr James Mcgyver.

A month has passed since he tried to kidnap me and I had tried to come up with different theories as to why he would do such and also Alejandro's connection to all of this but nothing came to mind.

"Lou, are you Ok"

"Yea, I'm fine"

"So....., Who is it? A secret admirer, I suppose."

"Oh...urrrm... Yea, it's a colleague from the restaurant." I stuttered.

"Nice, anyway my mum is throwing a little get together for Alejandro's birthday and you are invited.

It is scheduled for this evening and I am here to help you get ready."

"Wow, that's nice let me go get ready." I replied as I made my way to my room.

Suprisely, she followed me to my room.

"Pack a bag, cause you are staying the night."

"Errr.....rrrrrm.., ooooook.

I wasn't even given a chance to make a choice.

Anyway this isn't too bad, I get to talk to Alejandro. I need to ask him some questions.

" Wait... Don't you have any evening gowns."

She sounded like not having such outfits was a bad thing.

"No, my outfits mostly consists of Jean trousers and shirts."

Soon, Maya is leading me on a last minute shopping trip; she browses through outfits, while I just stand looking at her.

"You know..., You are supposed to be picking an outfit."

"But, I can't afford it."

"Don't worry, I have got you covered."

She picks an outfit from the rack.

"This one! The color matches your eyes."

"Wait, what do you need a mask for?"

"Ohhhh... I forgot to mention that it's a masquerade ball," she replied.

Wow, I get to attend a masquerade ball

Yipeee!

***********

I gazed at my reflection in the mirror in surprise.

Wow, I looked like I belonged on the red carpet.

I took in the details of my look , from my messy bun with a tendrils framing my face, to the pearl earrings hanging down to my bare shoulders. Maya had done a wonderful job with the make-up, simple and beautiful.

My eyes then moved to take in the silky tan chiffon dress, emphasizing just a little cleavage with the halter top held together by the thin straps covering my back.

Wow, revealing but fits nicely!

The final touch was a brown mask

The large foyer had been transformed into a mini ballroom, waiters moved round serving cocktails.

A knock on the door was heard and I turned.........
