Louise's POV.
I started marching towards the direction where Carl was headed. The hospital is so big with its many turns.
I had to stop wherever there was an emergency entry, soon enough I couldn't catch sight of Carl. I depended on my intuition to lead me to the entrance where he stood waiting.
Soon enough a car parked right in front of him. He opened the passenger's door and beckoned to me.
"Mr Carl, please can you tell me where we are going." Desperation could be heard in my voice as I pleaded.
He smiled directly at me and replied," Well when you get there, you shall know."
"And if I refuse."
Without blinking he said,"I have orders to bring you with me, with or without your consent. So I think it would be very nice if you quietly got in the car."
What! Is he threatening me? I am sure Alejandro ordered him to this.
I really wanted to disobey and prove stubborn, but I needed help so I got in.
******************
It was night when we finally arrived at a building. I couldn't fully appreciate the scenery because of the cold breeze. I rushed to enter the building at the same time trying to keep up with Carl's long strides. We entered an elevator to the top floor.
"Sir, we have arrived." Carl said to the intercom, soon a ding sound followed and the door leading to an apartment opened.
The condo looked as cold as its owner who sat at the dining - no colors, decorations or even pictures. It was like looking at a 1990s picture with its black and white theme.
His apple- chocolate cologne filled the air, making my mouth water.
I stood in my place for some minutes waiting for him to say something or even ask me to sit.
I don't understand why Carl had to leave me to face all this alone.
But he did neither.
He simply kept typing away on the laptop, only raising his head to sip from the cup of coffee beside him.
I approached him and sat on the chair next to him, but he still kept his eyes glued to the laptop.
Urggh.....how rude can he get...
I waited..
Then 10 minutes passed. I let out a soft breath, feeling my temper start to flare up.
"Excuse me, won't you tell me why I am here." I finally spoke up.
I mean I don't appreciate this suspense. Just get on with it.
But the words were stuck in my throat.
"Oh yes." He started,"I just need to round this up, once I am done we will talk."
There was no anger or command in his tone but it was still able to keep me shut.
And so I kept silent until he would have my time.
.
.
.
I woke up with a start as his voice startled me:
"I have decided that you will be staying here until everything dies down. With you here I will be able to find do more investigation without having to rescue you every time."
I was stunned by his words.
"What."
For a minute, my mind tried processing what he said. He just watched me with curiosity.
"How dare you think you can make a decision concerning life without asking me first? Just because you saved me twice doesn't mean you have a right over me. I can deal with MacGyver myself," I said in a curt voice.
"So you can deal with him yet you always need to be saved. Let me make this clear, you are always getting in my way anytime I get very close to the jackpot. I know you are somehow involved in all of this so I plan on getting to the bottom of all this without you interfering; I am not asking but threatening you." He didn't yell but I could feel the venom he put into every word.
I gulped, my eyes slightly wide as I tried to hold the moisture that threatened to creep up my lids.
No I wouldn't let his words affect me.
"Do not try to disobey me or there will be consequences. A resignation letter has been sent to your workplace. For now you are to remain in the house until further instructions either from me or from Carl…." He paused.
And I waited both in shock and anticipation, as he moved his jaw.
He stood up taking his laptop. "Follow me, a room has been prepared for you. Tomorrow clothes and any other necessity will be available." With that he shut the door and left.
Once more I am left alone with my thoughts.
