Chapter 32 - Chapter Thirty Two

[Lord Kasuyi?] A smooth female voice called out in the darkness. The voice sent ripples through the darkness like a disturbance on the surface of a still lake.

"Yes, my child?" A deep voice replied from within that darkness. The voice seemed to carry a burden that had been accumulated over centuries.

[Ah, there you are.] A faint wisp of light appeared in the middle of the darkness. Beside that light was a tall man. His hair was as white as snow and his eyes shone with a deep blue luster. Within his eyes was an untold story that very few could understand, even if they sat down to listen.

"What is it, Divine Mage?" Kasuyi asked, his deep voice echoing through the darkness. Overhead, a large pale moon hung, but it didn't grant any light upon the dark lands below. Kasuyi looked up at the moon for a few moments while waiting for the Divine Mage's response.

[I have finally gathered enough stray Chaos particles to recreate your body. We have also arrived in the Lantern room, so everything is set in place for your revival.] The Divine Mage's voice rang out as the wisp like entity that contained its consciousness floated around Kasuyi's head.

"At what cost?" He asked slowly.

[Pardon?]

"What will be the cost of my revival?" He repeated himself.

[...Your ability to efficiently cast spells will be temporarily reduced by thirty percent and you will start out at the Peak of Grandmaster Class.]

"Hmm. That's better than I expected... Very well, then. Begin the revival process."

The moment Kai stepped past the large double doors, he was enveloped in complete darkness. This darkness lasted for only a few moments, but it felt as though he had been seen through by countless eyes. The darkness only receded when they had deemed him to not be a threat.

A faint glow of light appeared before his eyes as the darkness gave way bit by bit. With each passing moment, the light grew brighter and brighter until it illuminated the massive hall that Kai was standing in. The door that he ha stepped through to get here was no longer behind him.

The light in the massive hall came from the massive stone hourglass that was in the middle of the hall. It resembled a scaled down version of the Lantern he had entered together with Liothaire to get here. Half a dozen robed figures were currently moving around the base of the Lantern. The moment they noticed Kai's presence, they all stopped. From within their dark hoods, Kai felt as it he was being stripped buck naked and scanned for all the world to see.

"Oh, Great Inheritor!" One of the robed figures stepped forward. The remaining five figures moved behind the leading one like a wave of black. Deep, mysterious auras dyed the space around them in a variety of colors. To any normal person, this would just we an Aura that could only be felt, but thanks to the Divine Mage, Kai was able to discern the various Laws that these people were currently mastering, or had mastered.

The robed figure at the from had a deep purple aura swirling around him. That color stood for a mastery over Space-attributed magic. The density of the Aura around him also gave away his Class. Kai was very sure this man had a foot, if not both in the realm of Kings. He could tell that much without the Divine Mage's help.

The people who trailed behind also boasted a mastery over various elements. Two of them had a blue colored Aura, standing for water. One boasted a fiery red Aura that stood for fire, another carried around a gentle green Aura that represented a mastery in Earth Magic, while the last had a transparent Aura. The space around the person seemed to have been sharpened so it could cut apart anyone and anything that came too close without being permitted; the person was clearly a Martial Artist.

When they got within a certain distance, their Auras automatically receded, wrapping tightly around their bodies.

"Inheritor." They came to a stop before him. The endless abyss that swirled within their hoods seemed to stare at his very existence.

[Matthias.] A voice echoed from the Lantern in the center of the hall. The bright light that hung in the middle of it seemed to pulse as the voice spoke.

"Divine Mage. Welcome back." The man at the head of the group, Matthias, spoke up. "Please follow us." This time, he spoke to Kai. The five robed people then turned around and walked all the way to the large lantern in the center of the hall. Kai trailed behind them, his curious eyes taking everything in. The pitch black puppy that he had previously seen was also trailing behind him. He had no idea how exactly it had managed to follow them this far, but his mind was occupied with much more important thoughts; one of them being what exactly these people wanted from him.

When they all stood before the great Lantern, the six robed people spread out around it, standing at certain points that were neither too close nor too far from each other. Kai and Liothaire stood a bit farther, but still close enough to feel the eruption of magical energy that raged violently around the Lantern.

"What's going on?" The mighty Auras that erupted threatened to wash over his mind, completely crushing his ego. Of course, it wasn't too much of a surprise. The fact that he had managed to keep himself composed when he was exposed to their Auras at their normal forms was already a feat. And that was only possible thanks to him possessing the Divine Mage.

Liothaire watched on with a leveled gaze. A faint yearning could be seen in the depths of his dark eyes. "The Revival process has begun. Lord Kasuyi shall walk this earth once more, and he shall rule over all Mages!"

Kai just watched as the older man spoke, completely dumbfounded. Was this the same person who led their Adventurer group?
