Liothaire divulged the information he had dug up on Kai's parents. For some random humans that were supposed to be based on a rural, backwater planet, the incredibly few people who had information on the family had been very tight-lipped. Liothaire had even been forced to call in help from the Abbey in order to pry information from the memories of some tougher people.
"So, what you're saying is that they covered their tracks so well, that if it wasn't for the Divine Mage's tracking methods, you wouldn't have been able to link up the parents' present with their past? Kasuyi asked, leaning forward on the table.
"Yes." Liothaire nodded, confirming once more.
"Hmm, I see. Continue watching them. We do not know their motives, so it would be best to be cautious. Also, there is the possibility of at least one Lord Class individual supporting them. Be careful." Kasuyi issued a final warning before shooing Liothaire out of the library.
Now, there was one thing left to do.
Kasuyi got up from his seat, pushing the table away from his with the use of levitation magic. The stream of books and scrolls that were dancing around him had also disappeared, having stopped when he was still speaking with Liothaire.
A single scroll drifted towards him, fluttering softly. Kasuyi grabbed it out of the air, peering at it for a moment before flinging it back into the air. The scroll stabilized a moment later, before drifting back to where it came from.
"Nedra..." Kasuyi whispered before shaking his head. He definitely wasn't looking forward to their meeting.
Magical energy built up around him, making his hair stand on end. Pages of books fluttered rapidly, blown about by the rising wind that began to swirl in the library. Kasuyi reached into his pocket space where he kept his personal items before pulling out a crooked dagger. He used the tip of the dagger to prick the tip of his thumb, drawing a drop of blood before the wound healed in the next moment.
He drew a few symbols mid air, still fueling the turbulent storm of magical energy that was building. Upon his last word, all the magical energy that had built up abruptly disappeared, the wind gone with it.
Kasuyi looked around carefully, scanning every part of the library, not only with his eyes, but also with the help of some tiny hidden familiars.
"I know you're there, Nedra. It's been a while." Kasuyi sighed and called out. The next moment, a loud cackled burst out from the darkness.
"It's been a while, Kasuyi. What, a century?" From within the darkness, an enticing figure stepped out. Pale long legs, barely covered with a net leggings stepped onto the tiled floor of the library. An enticingly slim waist that was covered by an open leather coat, and a full chest. Nedra was a true beauty by the standards of the world. Her purple hair danced slightly as she walked forward, her heels clicking on the floor.
"Hmm, Grandmaster Class? That's not as bad as I thought it would be... But what's even surprising is the fact that you are still alive. I was shocked when I heard you fell in battle and you Red Robe Abbey fell to ruins.
"Yes, that... It was an oversight on my part that caused such a blatant betrayal. I won't make such a mistake this time." Kasuyi spoke, his gaze leveled and unfazed, even in the presence of a powerful being such as Nedra.
"You sound so cold, Kasuyi. I missed you, didn't you miss me?" Nedra's figure blinked, appearing before Kasuyi in less than a second. Her purple painted nails dragged slowly over Kasuyi's jaw. His face remained composed, even through her teasing.
"As much as I missed you, Nedra, there are much more important matters to take care of. One of them would be getting my Red Robe Abbey back together. After I handle the initial parts, I might have time for you." A small smile graced Kasuyi's lips.
"Ah, that's my Kasuyi. Ever so serious." Nedra gave Kasuyi a peck on the cheek before stepping away. "I missed you, you know..." Her playful voice turned serious all of a sudden. When Kasuyi heard it, he let out a low sigh.
"I'm sorry." He spoke, turning his attention to a book that drifted by.
"You are still the same, even after all these years." She spoke when she noticed the book.
"How is that?"
"Whenever you intend to dodge a topic, you always pick up a random book. If I remember well, you have read that particular one seventy six times now." She cracked a small smile as Kasuyi's eyes widened. He turned the books around several times before he recognized it.
'A Simple Guide To Summoning.'
It was the first book he had read when he turned down the Summoner's path. He had spent almost half a decade mastering the obscure path of magic. Summoning magic wasn't as direct as other forms of magic. As a summoner, getting distracted mid-summon could lead to you summoning something you couldn't control, and endangering your life.
"It doesn't matter... We have a lot to talk about, Kasuyi." Chairs popped out of nowhere and Nedra sat down, gesturing at the other one so Kasuyi could sit.
