Chapter 8 - The barrier

Tammana eyed the man who was bugging them relentlessly. She let Meera tell the truth because she was sure no one would believe her.

But she was impressed with the tolerance of the man, she sure has noticed that he was getting irritated with their replies. Yet each time he was able to reply politely.

For the first time, she looked at the man, up and down. He is looking nice. Tall and handsome, his dark eyes were too deep and his ruffled hairs giving him a bad boy look. Yet as a gentleman, he was dressed in a proper suit with a tie.

"What is your name?" She asked the man who again widened his eyes. En? Is the question difficult for him too? She looked at the man tilting her face and then waited for his reply.

Rehaan has never ever thought that someone would ask his name in his own party. The whole city knows him well enough. He often had his photograph in newspapers and magazines. Even many internet articles were jotting down about him. How alone the owner of the Oberoi group is working his way up instead of claiming his rights directly.

Or about his lifestyle, fashion statement. He is sure famous in any fields. And here the girl is sizing him up blatantly. She sure is crude. Is she mocking him again? Before he could analyse more the girl spoke again.

"Do you by any way have forgotten your name?" Her voice was so enchanting. Yet her words were mocking and rude.

It took all his strength to control the burst out forming under him. Many eyes are on him tonight. He can't do any mistake to disappoint his father. He took many deep breaths to calm himself and counted from one to ten in his mind.

Then with the best smile he has, he replied: "Rehaan, my name is Rehaan Oberoi."

"Tammana" the girl replied forwarding her hand.

That's it, no wonder no surprise. Does she not know who the Oberoi's are? Or did she already know and was just making fun of him. Still, like a gentleman, he is pretending to be, he shook her hand and replied, "it's nice to meet you miss Tammana."

With that, he stood up and was ready to go but something he didn't expect from the girl happened again.

"Would you like to have a dance with me?" She asked with a smile. He tilted his head looking at the girl. Isn't she being rude just a while ago? Now, what change of heart.

Or is it a new method to gain my attention he mused? Well if it is, it worked. He eyed the girl, she is one hell of a beauty. Shimmering and all, but then what surprised him again was her friend's reaction. The one who claimed that she is a fairy.

She stood up with a bolt like there are nails scattered on her seat. And now looking at Tammana with horror-filled eyes. And then glared at him with accusing eyes.

What!! sure he has two fake teeth out, but he is not vampire alright. 'What's with the reaction? And it's not like he was the one who asked for a dance, stare your friend instead of me.'

He wanted to scold both of them but again, when he saw the eyes on him, he smiled. "I am a bit busy miss Tammana, maybe next time."

The girl shook her head with disappointment and replied, "there is no next time. You would never be able to meet me again" she even took a dramatic sigh.

'I wish it became true. Who the hell wants to meet you again.' "Oh, my loss then." Saying he was about to go when Raghav came there searching for him.

It must have taken a lot of time all because of these two crazy girls.' He gave his friend an apologetic smile and was about to move when the other asked.

"Is everything alright? It took you long enough so I just came to check." Then looking at the two beautiful girls behind him he smiled "hello miss, I am Raghav. Hope you are enjoying the party."

The girl in the blue dress smiled and nodded her head, "of course we are, thank you." While the girl in the silver dress just nodded and smiled.

"Sorry if I sound rude but May I see the beautiful face of yours, miss?" He asked the girls to confirm their identity. If they would be from affluent families he would surely recognise them.

The girls eyed each other and were looking rather reluctant to do so. The girl in the blue dress was biting her lips and looking at the girl who told her name 'tammana'.

Tammana eyed both of us and then at her friend she sighed and asked, "is it necessary Raaghav. We don't like to show our faces." Her question was normal but if we force them it won't sound good.

So we smiled and shook our head. "Of course it's not. I was just being curious here." With that, we moved back.

*****"

Land of enchantment

"Has everyone been checked?" Asked the lord looking at the torn paper in his hands. His face aghast and torn.

"Yes my lord. Every fairy is safe and sound in their houses. You are worrying yourself too much." Said his son bowing.

"As a future lord you have to understand Vaibhav the night of new year is the night of prophecy. We have to stop the prophesy being true at every condition." He said balling his had into fist and glaring at the man who is talking everything lightly.

Not want to make his father angry, Vaibhav immediately. Kneeled. "I am sorry lord, I took things lightly. But why don't we close the enchantment barrier if that is what worrying you then no fairy will be able to go out."

"We can't close the barrier because we aren't the one who had opened it."
