"We can't close the barrier because we aren't the one who had opened it." Said his father with a sigh, looking at the torn parchment in his hands.
To say that Vaibhav was shocked was an understatement. His father is the Lord of their land. Only he has the power to control barriers. Then who else can make him this helpless?
But before he could ask any further his father turned to him and sighed again. Although looking reluctant his father asked him to come closer and gave the parchment in his hands.
"You are going to be the new lord soon, my son. It's time to know about our secrets. Ten centuries ago, humans and Fairies used to live together. But that greedy creatures tried to make us their slaves. Full of selfish motives, they tried to capture us. So we hid ourselves in forests. "
"But father everyone knew about this," he asked with furrowed brows. "I will keep everything that way" he wanted to say more but his father's stern look makes his words melt in his mouth.
"Impatient as always, you are still not mature enough to be the lord" his father chided him. He looked back at the parchment and ordered him to leave. "You may leave now."
His voice was filled with authority. Vaibhav wants to ask more but knows nothing would change his father's mind now. So he nodded and bowed. He closed the door behind him.
The Lord who was standing tall, like an emperor he is slumped on the throne, the moment door closed. He looked out of the window at the shining stars and then at the light green rays fading at the barrier and sighed.
His heart was palpitated with no exact reason. His anxiety is growing every moment. He read the parchment again
"The night When a period of life ends and the new start, humans will immerse themselves in feast and celebrations.
The enchantment barrier will fade, and out come the fairies again.
Doing the heinous crime, turn them into a witch. With that, the new cycle begins.
The whole kingdom will find the truth of centuries-old crimes then,
She who change the whole order of living, the one with silver eyes will bear again.."
The parchment was torn in half, it was said the emperor of that time was trying to destroy it when people found out about it. But no one knew what the full prophesy is and why he was trying to hide it.
It is passed to every new ruler to stop the fairies from going out. Because each year on the night of the new year the barrier fades to fulfil the prophecy.
Although it happens each year but this year, it feels different as if the prophecy will come true tonight. He rubbed his hands on his forehead.
His wrinkled face was full of worries. "Vaibhav said that he checked every house. I think it's just my fear that is making me delusional" he mumbled and went back to sleep.
But the sleep was the last thing he had in his eyes. The moment he closed the eyes. He heard eerie laughter. "The change has begun, the crime has been done. Soon the kingdom will fall and burn."
The same voice which has haunted all the lords and made their power unstable is too strong today. He opened his eyes and huffed to take breathe. Like his neck has been strangled. He felt very suffocated. Losing his clothes he wiped the sweat over his face.
"Call the guards" he showed and at once all the guards on duty came in.
"Check each house again, and confirm that all the fairies are at home. Not a single one must be missed. I want you to go and see each fairy with your own eyes. Only then would you come back" He wanted to add the one with silver eyes must be checked first but restrained himself.
He didn't want others to doubt him or find about the prophecy. He has a premonition that his ancestors have done something wrong and this prophesy is nothing but their retribution which has to be faced by their generation.
Full of his thoughts about the past and the dread that is filling his heart. He waited for the result of the search. But it took hours to check every house of the whole coven.
Mostly told them that everyone is in the house, but the guards insisted on seeing everyone with their eyes to follow the instructions.
And at last, what he was dreading about became true. Meera's family thought that he is at Tammana's house. While Tammana mother told them that she will be with Meera.
They searched the whole area but they were nowhere to be seen. They cursed badly. What lick do they have? The Lord will definitely behead them.
Fear covered their senses but still, with shaking legs they went to the Lord room. After much hesitation, the head spoke " my lord., Meera and Tammana are missing from the town"
"Tammana, the one with the silver res?" He asked to confirm and the guard nodded. He fell on the throne with a thud.
All the guards and people nearby became dumbfounded by the reaction. They knew their lord to be strong-willed and steel. .he never felt dishearten or weak in their eyes.
But now the person im in front of them has lost all the colour of his face and was looking rather torn.
",the prophecy has started to take its place" he mumbled and moved towards the prayer room leaving the shocked guards behind.
