[World Reformation begin.]
*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*
This message was heard by everyone around the world. People thought it was a hoax, but soon realized it was more likely an attack of some sort.
Destruction rained down on New York City, all you could hear were screams, cries, and death throes. People were running, scrambling ever where to escape the embrace of death.
*Pant*
"What the hell is going on?!" Why is this happening!" screamed Rick, as he limp-ran as fast as he could back to his shop.
He needed to grab his essentials and his car to flee from New York as it became a haven of chaos.
[Answering User: New Year's Wish was Granted.]
"That damned voice. What wish are you talking about?!" Rick was at his wit's end with this voice.
[Replaying Memory: Please wait...]
Rick was confused, how can a memory be replayed on a whim, then suddenly his mind started spinning and he was back in the bar.
_________
'Man, someone had to have spiked my drink with acid or something, because this is one hell of a trip.' Rick held his head, as it was still spinning.
He gathered his bearings and focused on his surroundings. He was shocked by what he saw next.
Rick was looking at another Rick sitting at the bar, drinking his usual swill. 'This is a bad, no, maybe this is considered a good trip. It was have been Andy that spike my drink. I'm sure of it.'
Disbelief was all over Rick's, then it was dispelled when he heard the words out of 'other' Rick's mouth.
"...I just wish for a world with no snow."
[This is the wish granted by the system, User. Ending memory transmission... Please wait.]
"What the fu—" Rick couldn't finish his curse before being whisked back to reality.
_______
"Man, my head hurts. This is too much for an old guy like me. Doesn't this weird stuff only happen to young people?"
*BOOM*
"AHHH!"
"Is it a terrorist attack?!"
"Mommy! Daddy!"
The screams and shouts woke Rick up. He realized he is the cause for all of this with a simple, stupid, meaningless wish, while drinking in a bar.
He felt endless waves of guilt hitting him. It reminded him of when he went to war. He clutched his head and fell the the ground. Devastation was all around him and he wanted it all to go away. He was almost to the point of a mental break. When he thought of the voice in his head.
'Maybe, that wish thing can stop this, right?' He thought. Rick sat himself up and shouted.
"Hey, you! You listen to wishes, right? Well, I wish this madness would stop. You can do that can't you." This was Rick's last hope.
[Wish registered. Please wait...]
Anticipation was eating away at Rick's patience. "Hurry up! People are dying!"
[Wish denied. User has used up the initial three wishes. User must reform a world to earn more wishes.]
Despair struck Rick, like a runaway train.
"Must I kill all of these people to satisfy a stupid wish... how can I?"
"Would this chaos stop, if I die? That would be for the best, right?"
Rick's mind was running at a 1,000 miles per hour. He was determined to stop this 'World Reformation' at all costs.
"I'll just off myself. It's probably better to jump. I don't really want to do it myself, even if it means saving the world."
[Answering User: It is better to think clearly about the consequences that come from this action.]
"Oh, I've thought about, alright. I won't let you have your way!"
[User, please remain rational. There is always a solution. User just needs to reform a world.]
"Oh yeah, then reform another world. Not this one, there are billions of lives at stake. Now quit stalling me!" Rick found the nearest building with a fire escape.
He climbed on a dumpster and struggled to reach the ladder on the fire escape.
"Damn, this leg of mine! It was better if I didn't have it."
He continued struggling, until he finally grabbed ahold of the bottom rung of the ladder. He mustered all of his strength and determination to pull the old ladder down.
*Clang*
The ladder hit the ground.
"Great! *huff* Now let's get on with it."
[User, final warning, please reconsider your actions. The consequences will be dire.]
"What are you going to do? Kill me? Haha, you'd be doing me a favor." Rick ridiculed the system as he made his way to the top of the building.
"Okay, let's make this happen. Little voice , are you sure you can't stop this 'World Reformation'?" Rick held on to hope that he wouldn't have to commit to this act.
[...]
"Hmm, I thought so. Well, hopefully, someone remembers me as a hero, or I guess not, since this is my fault." Rick sighed and looked over the ledge. He climbed up and attempted to steel his nerves.
"This is it... Goodbye, World." Rick took a step off the ledge. His body started falling toward the street.
_______
Far, far away from Earth.
"Dammit! I can't believe he'd go this far for this little planet. Shit! What can I do?" A little robot was panicking. It was tasked with finding the 'Galaxy Devourer' and when it finally find him, he wanted to kill himself to save a world. Oh, the irony.
The little robot ran to another room.
"Menaska, I found him, but he's trying to die..." said the little robot trying to stave off the blame from itself.
"What?! Give me the device!" Menaska was completely startled by this news. She waited eons for her liege to return. He's been found, but she may lose him again. Unacceptable!
"Why is he jumping from a structure?!" She glanced at the little robot, who avoided her gaze. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Menaska completely lost her patience. She grabbed the little robot and started melting its outer layer.
"He-He used all of the wishes. Or, well, I used them for him. The world was going to be conquered. But then, he wanted to save it. I couldn't override the system. He's going to die, if we do nothing!" The little robot feared its life would end and told the truth.
Menaska lost interest in the robot and went back to the device. It was full of mystery, as it was acquired after the conquered a galaxy in an extremely technologically advanced section of the Universe thousands of years ago. She didn't know how this robot found him or if this is even the same 'Galaxy Devourer' she knew.
"Device, system, whatever you are. Please save him."
[...]
"I know you are sapient, device. I command that you save our liege this instant."
[I cannot save him from his current plight, but I can ensure that as long as you hold this system it will follow him in his next life.]
Menaska sighed as she felt she had no choice, but to trust in these words.
"If you are lying, I will crush this vessel that stores you and no one will use you ever again." Menaska threatened.
[I assure you. As long as I remain in your hands. Your King will return to you, although...]
"What is it?!" Menaska gnashed her teeth at the device. She was fed up with its games.
[Well... you'll see shortly. Just don't be mad at me.]
Menaska stared at the screen on the device once again.
_________
Rick was currently free falling. He held hope that the voice would save him, if he went through with it. He seemed adamant to make him change his mind.
The ground was getting closer.
'Shit! Am I really going to die?!' Rick could only think as he couldn't get the words out.
'Little voice, I didn't think you'd let me die, for real!' He exclaimed in his mind.
[User was determined. System did state that the consequences were dire. Although, there is a solution to this problem. Would you like to hear it?]
'Hurry up!' Shouted Rick impatiently.
[Die and be born anew. Do you accept?]
Rick was only a few feet from the ground.
'I'm doing one way or another. Yes!'
Darkness claimed Rick's vision.
[World Reformation cancelled.]
