"Whew, I'm glad we sorted that out. Now, Little Voice. What about the rest of this stuff from the package." Rick sighed in relief after seeing that he didn't need to read that outrageously long form.
[Beginner's Combat Equipment is as it states combat equipment was for beginner's in this world. A weapon and armor set of User's choice.]
[Continuing… Beginner's Survival Kit contains items for User's survival. Food, water, first aid, shelter, and other miscellaneous items. User can compare this to items used in the military on Earth.]
"Okay, sounds fairly basic. It seems a bit more glamorous than my time in the Marines on Earth. That's how I got my... Oh shit! I completely forgot, there's no limp!" Rick exclaimed and hopped up from the cot. His limp was no longer there, because he no longer had his old body.
Rick was running in place, doing jumping jacks, squats, and everything else he had a hard time doing since his injury.
*Pant* *Pant*
"Man… I can move, but this body is out of shape! He's too young for this. We'll work on that later." Rick finally calmed down.
"I'm sorry, Little Voice. Keep going."
[...]
[The last item is the World Reformation Starter Kit. User, this is a one-time courtesy item. This Starter Kit allows User to reform a world using the options available. It is essentially a glimpse into what can be done with the system. Any future World Reformations must be earned and done by the User.]
Rick's jaw dropped. He stared at the walls in his room dazed. He stayed that way for at least 10 minutes.
[User.]
"Huh, what?" Rick snapped out of his daze.
"Little Voice!! Are you saying that I'm going to kill these people if I use this Thing?!" Rick was starting to get pissed. He killed himself on Earth to prevent that from happening and now he was just handed the option to do it again.
[User, open the Starter Kit and view the options for World Reformation. User will understand further.]
"Fine." Rick grumbled. "Open!"
[Opening World Reformation Starter Kit. Please Wait...]
A new panel popped up in front of Rick, which was different from the ones he sees in his head. It said 'World Reformation' at the top of the screen and there were five tabs.
'World Type. Species. Environment. The last two tabs were grayed out and had '???' where its name should be listed. This seems like one of those games that I've seen kids play when I went to the library to use the computer.'
"I guess I should just look through it, then figure it out."
Rick looked at the 'World Type' tab first. As he selected it, a list of different worlds popped up.
[Ordinary]
[Sci-Fi]
[Apocalyptic]
[Game]
There were other options, but they were 'Unavailable in the Starter Kit'.
"Little Voice. I think I can get the meaning behind these worlds, but surely, it won't just entirely transform a world. It just sounds impossible to me."
[User, the Universe is vast. There are unfathomable powers that exist. Powers that can destroy galaxies on a whim. User, the World Reformation options available are the 'easiest' to create. Reminder: This is the only time User can freely select an option, in the future they can only be unlocked upon meeting certain conditions.]
Rick's mind was blown. He was sure he didn't comprehend all of what Little Voice said, but he wasn't fully convinced.
"Ok, you say that, but if I change the world to one of these, won't the people find it strange and it will cause a panic."
[It will be this planet's 'fated encounter'. They will adapt or die.]
Rick shuddered after hearing the cold voice of the system. It felt like this was a normal occurrence to it. 'I'll have to remind myself that Little Voice is not a friend or foe.'
"Alright, enough of that! Let's check the other tabs." He looked at the 'Species' tab and realized he couldn't move from the 'World Type' tab.
"Hey Little Voice! What's the deal?"
[User must select a 'World Type' before selecting a species.]
"!!! What the hell, Little Voice? Did you trick me into to starting this process?!" Rick started to flare up. He felt betrayed. This system was supposed to help him, but instead it went against what he wanted.
"I won't select an option, if it means millions or even billions of people will die! I'm not a mass murderer. I refuse. I will would sit and die staring at the screen!"
[User...]
_____________
Far, far away...
"What the hell did you do, device?!"
Rick wasn't the only one who flared up. Menaska was raging as well.
[It was thought to be a test of his resolve. It seems I've erred. Perhaps we can coax him a bit more to see if he will chose an option.]
"He's not the same as the 'Galaxy Devourer' of the past. He experienced a weak and passive life for decades. He must be eased into this process. What option is less devastating do the planet he is currently on?"
Menaska regained her calm, because getting angry won't help her King.
[This is already an ordinary world, albeit slightly above Earth in terms of real magic being present. Though, it is mostly parlor tricks. The Sci-Fi world should be a good choice, it will be like throwing the current civilization into a Hi-Tech Renaissance.]
"Wouldn't that invite trouble from more advanced societies, who covet technology?"
[I suppose it could. We can't go with the Apocalyptic World, that's guaranteed to cause the loss of billions of lives.]
"What would the last option look like?"
[It's perhaps the least destructive. It will turn this planet into a game-like world. Not your standard game, but multiple genres in one. Every being on the planet will be subjected to a level system. There are many objectives, like dancing, puzzles, platform, action-adventure, and of course role playing that allow them to gain levels.]
"I suppose it's our best option for now, but I don't think it would really prepare him for what he would experience on most planets. Oh well, he'll have the option to reform other planets and gain experience, right?"
[Yes. This time it's a freebie, but in the future he must learn how to reform a world based on his experiences. I will learn from this and carefully introduce new objectives according to his growth.]
"Good. As you know, we've entrusted our liege to you, device. Don't mess this up." Menaska glared menacingly at the device.
[I ensure you, I won't.]
__________
Rick was sitting with his arms crossed and eyes closed.
[User...]
Rick ignored the voice.
[User, the system has come up with a solution that won't turn the User into a mass murderer, instead a silent hero of change.]
Rick was intrigued, but remained silent.
[One of the User's Reformation Reasons relates to the prejudiced behavior of regular citizens toward the group, Novalite. Although, this has not been fully investigated. User can choose to give all citizens a way to change their fate.]
"How would I do that?" Rick finally spoke.
[Choose the 'Game' World Type. Out of all of the options, except the 'Ordinary' it is the least destructive. Everything becomes like a game and there won't be any deaths related to the reformation. Any deaths would fall on the 'player' and there is an option to gain lives, as this is a game-like world.]
Rick listened to the voice. He decided to look through 'Previous Rick's' memories from the beginning to get a good idea of how he was treated.
'This world is just as shitty as Earth. Perhaps, I should give it a try...'
"I'll choose the 'Game' World Type, but what about the last two tabs?"
[User can choose the major species of the Universe planet. User can choose to leave it the same or change it. Warning: User's species will change as well. Same for environment, it's similar to Earth. User can choose arid, temperate, tropical, and tundra climates. User can unlock other environments in the future.]
"That's not as bad as changing the entire planet."
Rick took a deep breath.
"Game. Human. Temperate."
[World Reformation begin.]
