Chapter 2 - The Task

Darren woke up with a ring of the doorbell. Immediately grabbing a robe, he put it on. Trying to think of who would visit him at this early hour in the morning.

It could be anyone. His bestfriend Lily or their only male friend, Lee.

It turns out, it's them both.

"You do know what time it -

"Save your speech for later" Lily cut him off and stepped inside, Lee smiling at his expression.

Darren rolled his eyes for Lily's bossy attitude as he followed them at the living room. Both of them already making themselves at home. Lily with arms crossed and Lee with raised eyebrows, staring amusedly at Darren's nonchalant expression.

"For someone who lost a lawyer, you seem pretty cool" Lee spoke as he watched Darren get on his personal chair, crossing both of his arms and legs elegantly. Darren rolled his eyes, what do his friends need to see? Him crying desperately? Begging? Pleading to release his parents?

Yes, his biggest goal at the moment is to get his parents out of that stinky cell, but he would not succumb to desperation. And besides, he always gets what he wants. And he wants to get his parents out of humiliation and restore the honor of their name.

"Do I look like I am in desperate need? I get what I want and Lily will hire that French lawyer she's telling me" Darren answered and looked at Lily who grinned meekly.

"And you, Lee darling will get him for me" Lily added and Lee looked at them simultaneously.

"The things I do for you both" Lee whispered and Lily winked at Darren at his response.

"But you do realize who are we talking about right? He's french and is a royal member of the royal family. Are we really thinking about getting him?" Lee asked and Darren nodded.

"Lily claimed he's the best and I only get the best" Lee snorted at him.

"Best is an understatement Ren. He's not someone we can just call 'the best' anytime we want. He's different" Lee stated.

Darren didn't quite understand what Lee meant but he didn't care. He just need to have a lawyer and what's better to do, given his current predicament, than to trust his bestfriend? She knows someone and he'll be definitely be getting him.

This member of a royal family thing doesn't even matter to him. So what if he's a royalty? That doesn't change the fact the he offers his services given that he is a lawyer. Surely he would accept his case and besides, Darren could give a fairly good payment, maybe even better than anyone else, as long as he do what Darren needs him to do.

"I don't need those unnecessary information about him Lee. Get him, hire him to take my parents out of jail and lift my house arrest and we're done." Darren answered.

Lee looked at him in disbelief. Amused at Darren's statement. "We're talking about the wealthiest lawyer to ever walked the planet. Clearly given his own royal blood, he handles royal worthy cases"

"I didn't wake up this early in the morning for your hyperbole statements." Darren rolled his eyes, unperturbed of his signature attitude. They're used to him after all.

Lee sighed and looked at him indifferently. "Assuming I, a commoner, manages to get his attention and convince him to be a lawyer for a spoiled brat homosexual male and then what? Are you going to berate him like you berate Meyers?"

Darren then chuckled. "It's not me if I don't and did you just refer to me as a spoiled brat homosexual male?" he raised an eyebrow when Lee shrugged.

"Got a problem with it?" Lee asked and Darren rolled his eyes.

"I hear you discriminating" Lee laughed at what Darren said and shook his head playfully. "Too good to discriminate Ren"

Lee then proceeded to stare at him for a minute and Darren stared right back. Coaxing him in the eye to go against what he wants and he for sure will receive the signature Darren tantrums and will give him the biggest headache of all.

Lee seemed to consider him for a moment before looking defeated and nodded. "Alright, I'll try to go talk to Lily's brother, Jack and then on ask for some connection. But do not expect anything"

Darren shrugged. "Then go on."

Lee's upper lip quirked up into a smirk as he stood up, pocketing his hands on his jeans. "So demanding." he mumbled as he left.

After he heard the front door closed, he turned to Lily casually looking at the magazine she grabbed under the coffee table.

"Are you okay?" he heard Lily asked and he raised his chin up, looking confident and highly despite the night robes he's still wearing. Why wouldn't be okay? He'll soon catch the people who are really behind the lies and should be punished accordingly.

He's mad. Darren is mad to those people and he would do anything to get them pay.

He smiled sweetly at Lily. "Why wouldn't I be?"

Lily stared at him. Observing him keenly and for a second, Darren thought she'll speak and tell him what she sees because it's always been her who can read him like an open book. But she only shrugged and nodded immediately afterwards.

"Of course you are. You're Darren Chu"

Right. He's Darren Chu. He's the Darren Chu who gets everything he needs and he wants. He's a person who gets everything in their own ways and what's the use of some little foul play if he can't use it in times like this? Like those responsible people behind it, he'll certainly give them what they deserve.

He's a Darren Chu for a purpose and he's a spoiled brat for a reason but if he's stuck in those dumb detectors locked in his ankles, he will get someone to do those things he wanted to do by himself.

He's not by law but he will be with it.
