Alec
Tracy just stared at us. I cleared my throat and she blinked a few times.
"Uh... hello Tracy," Quinn said and Tracy smiled at him. I didn't like that Quinn got more attention than me. It was childish, I know. I heard Emily yelling from the kitchen asking who was at the door. Tracy told her it was us and I could hear Emily sigh.
Pack members and non-pack members staying in territory wasn't allowed to deny the Alpha or Beta access to their homes and right now I silently thanked whoever set that rule. Emily came to the door and looked at us before opening the door wider, letting us in. The four of us walked to the kitchen and sat down.
"So, to what do we owe the pleasure?" Emily spoke and Quinn hid a smile. Emily was something else to deal with. I looked at her and then turned my head to look at Tracy.
"I'm here to talk to Tracy about some things, it's important," I said and looked at Tracy, her eyes were wide and I couldn't help staring into those big beautiful blue orbs.
"Tracy, dear, I think it's time we tell them. You trust me, right?" Emily asked her and she nodded.
"Well, what do you want to know?" Tracy was looking at me as she asked the question. I didn't think it would be this easy.
"For starters, I'd like to know who you are running from." Tracy closed her eyes and rubbed her temples, when she opened her eyes something changed. Her eyes was not warm anymore, not friendly but cold, they held no emotion.
"I was and still am, running from my husband, Rian." I slammed the table hearing the word husband, Quinn put his hand on my shoulder and linked me to calm down. The thought of Tracy being married haven't even occurred to me and I didn't know what to feel at the moment. When I was calm enough I looked up and three pairs of eyes were staring at me, I looked at Tracy and I saw Emily taking Tracy's hand and giving it a squeeze.
"How long have you been married, how old are you? I asked still in shock.
"This would be the third year, I am twenty six," she answered cold. I could see that it was torture for her to talk about this even though she tried to sound like she didn't care. I didn't want her to feel like this but we didn't have a choice. Whoever was at the border, was connected to her.
"Why are you running from your husband?" It came out harsher than I would have liked but this whole fucking thing about her being married was just pissing me off. I could see the unshed tears behind her eyes. I wanted to stand up and hold her in my arms and make her forget every bad thing that has happened to her, but I knew she wouldn't allow me to do so. Tracy didn't answer and looked at Emily, silently begging her to tell me.
"Rian was abusive, the night Tracy stumbled upon the valley was my fault. When I left here, I applied for a house keeping job that Rian placed in the papers, that's how Tracy and I met. A few days ago I went to work as usual, when Tracy didn't open the door like every other morning I started panicking, so I let myself in and I started to search for her through that big fucking house. I found her in her room, laying on the floor, unable to get up because Rian had kicked her after he hit her. I made plans that morning for her to get away and everything went according to plan until we almost reached our destination, where Cassie would have picked her up. I spotted Rian's car behind us but drove to the cottage anyway knowing that Tracy could run into the woods, away from him." I cut Emily off as a loud growl escaped my mouth.
Quinn took me outside to calm me down but Jax wanted out, he wanted to go and kill that useless piece of shit that hurt our mate. I don't know what Emily told Tracy when I rushed out of the house but I saw Tracy walking towards me. She placed her hand on my shoulder and I felt Jax and myself starting to relax.
Without thinking I turned to her and pressed her tiny body against mine, hugging her and then I felt her arms going around my body, hugging me back. I didn't want this moment to pass, I could've stayed like this forever. When Tracy thought I was calm enough she slowly detached herself from me. She looked up at me and I could see the concern in her eyes, or I was just imagining things.
"Are you all right?" she asked softly. I smiled at her and nodded. Emily was standing at the door, waiting for us and shouting something about food getting cold. We decided not to get her upset again and went inside. When we sat at the table Emily just had to ruin the damn peaceful moment.
"Alec, why did you need to know about Tracy's past so urgently?" Emily asked, taking a bite of her lasagna. Quinn started telling her about the scent at the border and that it matched a scent on Tracy's dress and while I was listening, I looked at Tracy. She was shaking with fear and I knew what she was thinking. Rian was no ordinary piece of shit, he was a supernatural piece of shit and trouble was coming.
