Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: First Day of Classes pt.3

Evan waited with bated breaths for whatever Miss Y has planned for the private lesson. He had assumed at first that the lesson would be with principal Mies, but he was wrong. Miss Y was prancing around the room, setting up whatever she felt would help him best.

He wasn't sure what to expect from the private lesson he was to be given. Miss Y scared him a bit and for good reason. He could feel it within his very bones as everything about the woman screamed danger. She had described her magic as being used to make people sleep but somehow, he knew that wasn't all she could do. His mind whirled with plenty of ways she could probably murder him in his sleep, maybe even with a toothpick.

Lost in his thoughts, Evan doesn't notice the irked expression marring Miss Y's face. Here she is dedicating her time to help the kid out -on the principal's orders- and the guy isn't even paying attention. Utterly annoyed, Miss Y slams her hands onto Evan's desk, taking pleasure in the fact that he gets completely surprised.

Evan stares at Miss Y in shock, taking a few seconds to process what just happened. He places a hand on his heart, hearing the rapid beating and waits for it to calm down. He quickly apologizes, still terrified by the teacher.

"Alright brat, I hope you're prepared for a hell of a ride." She grins sadistically, before pulling out a large chunk of paper. "Right here is the study plan the principal provided for you, which you are to follow to a T. I won't teach someone who is slacking off whatsoever, especially if they're slacking off for dumb reasons." She sternly states, causing Evan to gulp in fear. He wasn't planning on slacking off, especially as he is now some predestined savior of sorts. He simply did not think he'd receive a training plan of sorts.

Nodding to show that he is paying attention, Miss Y continues on. "First order of business is getting some muscle on you, as well as having a better stamina. I could probably snap you in half with your twig-like limbs, which is bad news for you but great news for future enemies. Magic is not everything as you cannot always rely on it. All magicians have a limit per say for how many spells they can really dish out before they need to take a break and sadly, in war, you can't just take breaks." She lectures, intending on having her message hammered into Evan's brain.

"Now, your magic lessons, aside from the ones that happen regularly during class, will happen 3 times a week. This is to adjust your body to both your new exercising, as well as give you time to rest because I, along with other staff members, will be pushing you to your limits." She tells him in a way that sounds as though she pities him.

Miss Y has taught plenty of students throughout her lifetime and she has seen far too many fall away in wars simply because they only train their magic, rather than their body. It's always devastating for her when she sees her previous students fall in battle, but all she can do is teach them to focus on improving everything. Now, with the prophecy becoming a reality, she and her other staff members only have 3 years to prepare Evan for the inevitable war that was to come and she'd be damned before sending him out to war without the right training.

Evan gently takes the stack of papers from her hands and reads over it, eyes widening in shock at how much he has to do. He feels like he was suddenly thrown into One Punch Man with the kind of training regime he will be put through. Quickly reading what the first day entails, Evan wants to cry. 10 whole laps around the campus to see how much stamina he really has. It's not awful..but the campus is massive.

Miss Y grins as she watches Evan's eye widen at the regime she prepared with the principal, finding satisfaction in the pure pain she knows he'll be going through. It's hard to not unlock a sadistic streak of sorts after years of teaching unruly students. "Well, that running won't be completed by itself, go on." She places a little device on Evan's chest that beeps once activated. "This will track your progress and let me know where your stamina is at. You can go back to your dorms after you finish at least 5 laps. It's foolish to believe you'll be able to do 10 on the first day, but as time goes on, you will strive to reach that goal. Remember, running laps is not all that you'll be doing as time goes by." She winks at him, before shooing him out of the classroom. "Now, I have another student who needs a private lesson, so chop chop."

Evan groans before beginning his awful, awful laps around campus. He's 1 lap in and his entire body b u r n s. He feels disgustingly out of shape and disgusting in general as his entire body is consumed by sweat. Other students watch on in curiosity as he passes them by, clearly wondering what the hell he's doing.

At lap 3, Evan honestly wants to perish. He's running at the pace of a snail and panting like a dog, desperately wishing for water. He feels a bit dizzy, not enough to collapse, but enough to worry. When he awoke in his new body, he never really focused on working out whatsoever, too caught up in his depression and acceptance of his fate. Time would pass by and he'd simply get too caught up in other things to focus on a healthier routine per say. Now, he completely regrets it because the old Evan clearly never exercised and now he has to suffer for it.

When he finally finishes lap 5, Evan collapses onto the ground, feeling as though Death has come for him. He can't really move at this point, not like he wants to. He's surprised he finished all 5 laps, but then he notices how it's already dark out, making him wonder how long his running took. With another groan, Evan sluggishly brings himself back to the Moosha dorms, knowing he had snacks in his dorm. He wanted to shower and sleep, as his legs burned like he was thrown in hellfire.

Arriving at the dorms makes Evan feel as though he had just arrived in heaven. He slowly gets to his dorm specifically and opens the door, stumbling inside. He figures he can call his parents tomorrow, too dead to do much else aside from shower and eat. He rips open his suitcase and grabs the pack of gummies he'd never eaten and a protein bar of sorts, not really caring for his diet. The first thing he does is chug two entire bottles of water, moaning at how good the water felt. He then rapidly chows down his 'dinner' and runs into the shower.

The shower is nice, warm, and relaxing all in one, but the burning in his legs doesn't really go away. He attempts to stretch them out after he gets out of the shower, but that just hurts even more. Sighing, Evan throws himself onto his bed and sets his alarm for the next day, slowly falling asleep to the sound of a gentle musical tune playing next door.

Evan's hellish training is just beginning, making today seem like nothing.
