Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Coming Clean pt.1

The smell of antibiotics and alcohol woke Evan up, finding himself parched. His eyes roamed around the ever-white room that was as bright as the light magic. The infirmary room was his current destination and if Evan was being honest, he didn't really want to get up.

Seeing the Mary Ann look-alike really screwed him up. Yes, he still missed his old life but, he was finally moving on. There was no reason to linger on the past, but suddenly it comes to bite him in the ass. There's still the possibility that the girl he saw is completely different from his ex, but getting over her looks will be hard enough.

It hurts seeing the person who murdered you even if they aren't the same person. It's like a giant f*ck you by the universe itself. With that final thought, Evan pushes himself up so he is sitting on the bed, rather than laying down. His head was pounding, causing him to squint his eyes from the massive brightness that was visible.

If Heal worked on sicknesses rather on just on physical injuries, Evan could probably rid himself of his headache, but alas he cannot. He gets himself off of the very comfy bed, intent on getting back to his dorm and pretending the day never happened. Before he can completely escape, an odd shadow movies within his peripheral vision. Startled, Evan prepares himself for a fight because he cannot see exactly who the shadow is.

"Woah calm down there. I'm not going to fight any student within these walls especially. Stop murmuring whatever spell you were about to throw alright? This is the infirmary, a place where injured and sick students alike stay in, so fighting is prohibited." The shadow scolds Evan for his almost-recklessness, before taking off the large cloak they're.

Evan is caught off guard by the handsomeness of the guy in front of him, rendering him speechless. Curly brown hair that only slightly covered the 6'0" guy's sharp amber eyes and he had a jawline that could probably cut someone in half. The man wore a large white lab coat over a beige turtleneck and black pants, finished off with a few vials in the coat's pocket.

"Er..sorry." Evan says, completely embarrassed by the entire attack first talk after moment he was about to have. He should've guessed that the infirmary would be one of the safer places on campus but his mind was preoccupied by his own worries over that girl. "Hey, it's alright. Anyways, your friend brought you here earlier Mr. Renelli, as he didn't really understand why you passed out. I, on the other hand, understand panic attacks better than most so if you would ever like to speak about your reasoning behind them, I am available. Aside from the school's primary doctor, I am also a licensed therapist. God knows you kids need those.." He says the last part much more quietly, but Evan's fox ears easily pick up on the sentence.

"Ah, thank you. I'm okay for now, i'll be leaving now for my dorm." Evan then attempts to just leave the infirmary but he is once again stopped by the doctor. "You should come by tomorrow, though you passed out because of a panic attack, there is always the possibility that it could be something more. If you feel any worse later, don't think I didn't notice the pain you're in from your headache, do come by." With a gentle smile, Evan is sent off on his way. He wonders how the doctor knew about his headache but chalks it up to some magic affinity. Light magic has plenty of healing-type subsets so maybe the doctor has one of those.

Instead of walking back to his own dorm like he had originally planned, Evan makes his way towards Cole's instead. He didn't want his friend to continue to worry about him so he may as well let him know he's alright. The only problem is that Cole will surely ask questions regarding what had happened early and Evan isn't sure if he's really ready to talk about it with the past so fresh in his mind.

He knows most people that get stuck in a new world often pretend their past never existed and don't tell anyone about it, but Evan just can't forget. It'll never be easy for him to just go, 'New Life New Me', no his old life will always be a large part of him.

When he'd first met Cole as the new Evan, the guy pretty much knew he wasn't who he said he was but had yet to pester him about that fact. Evan therefore knows that Cole won't call him crazy if he explains why he can't even look at that girl whatsoever.

He stands in front of Cole's door contemplating his life decisions before he knocks on the door, not surprised to hear a small 'thud' coming from the room. It takes a few minutes before Cole opens the door and pulls him into a hug, murmuring how worried he was. "Hey hey, i'm alright. Cmon, lets go into your room, there are some things i'd like to tell you." Evan gestures towards the room and steps in, Cole following right behind him like a lost duckling. He takes a seat on Cole's comfy bed and pats the spot next to him, twiddling his thumbs out of nervousness. This isn't the kind of conversation that just happens, ya know?

"I'm sure you are wondering why I reacted as I did to seeing Mary and hopefully once I explain my reasoning, you'll have a much better understanding of who I am." Evan starts off, noticing the rapid nods that Cole gives him, who is eager to hear the story.

"Well..do you remember how you said I wasn't who I said I was and how you once explained that you knew because of my aura? That all factors into my reaction to today." Evan begins, jumping right into his past life on Earth.
