"What's 'Christmas'?" I asked, standing in the snow with a black turtleneck. I was outside, in my scarf and snow boots, and the warmest pants I could find. "I've never heard of it before."
"Really? You've never done something during Christmas?" Kai asked, giving me a shocked look.
"I went to something called 'Mauler's Club' one time when I was little. They gave me some gifts in the winter. Does that count?"
"No."
"Oh," I said, scratching my neck. Does Alycia think I'm weird for not knowing about Christmas too? "What do you do for the holidays, Kai?"
"I would've went to my Mom's and give her the best day of her life since Brent's gone. But now, I want to teach you what Christmas is before that," Kai said, stopping and patting my head with a smile. "It's fun when you learn everything about it!"
"I don't know," I said. Kai pulled me close and licked his lips.
"Are you sure?" He asked, lifting my chin up with his hand. We both looked up and saw a mistletoe. "To me, it kinda is when I'm with you."
I blushed and looked down at Kai's tan trench coat and white T-shirt underneath. Looking down at his bright blue jeans and blushing even more. Kai lifted my chin up and smiled.
"You know, when you're under a mistletoe, you're supposed to kiss someone your under it with. Not stare at their hot clothes then ignore them," He said, dipping his head and giving me a quick peck on the lips.
His are so soft, and they make me feel funny every time he kisses me, I thought, licking my lips and turning back to a pale pink. Kai tilted his head to the side and gave his famous anime smile. We both laughed and we walked away together hand in hand.
What would I call this? Love? Or.... F-Buddies in a really strange way?
"I'm hungry," Kai moaned, letting his grumbling stomach. I rolled my eyes and smiled. Maybe it's his never growing appetite...
"Let's go to my house. I can make you something to eat there," I said, patting his arm. "It'll be my, what was it, present for you."
"You're giving me food for Christmas?" He asked, giving a wounded look then sighing sadly. "I was hoping for something more... special."
He gave a smirk.
I punched him in the side.
We almost killed each other.
****************
"Merry Christmas!" Alycia squealed, standing at my front door with a large, glittering smile. I smiled back and gave her a big hug. I was so happy to see her, knowing we needed to have some quality girl-time for us. "I got you something in case you were missing life."
"What did you get me? Books? Please, God. Let them be books," I said, hugging the wrapped box with hope. I hadn't been able to read for months, and I was desperate for something. Alycia laughed and copped a squat on my white couch.
"You still have Grown Ups?" Alycia asked, reaching over to grab the movie case. She smiled and jumped up, running over to me and kneeling down in a 'Please?' gesture. "Can we?"
"Yeah, just restart the movie," I laughed, picking my pasta pot and pan and placing them on the stove over medium heat. Filling the pot halfway with hot water, put it on the stove over high heat and sprinkling salt into the heating water.
"Yay! Girl Time!" She squealed, picking up my T.V. remote and looking at it. The smile left her face and she got confused. I looked up from the cooking meat and walked over to the couch.
"You remember how to control my T.V, right?" I asked, sitting on the couch next to her. Slowly, she handed the remote and crossed her arms in a cute anger, something she must've learned from my younger sister, Demon Yushi.
"You keep getting newer stuff, and it gets me confused everytime," Alycia muttered. I rolled my eyes and showed her the rope of my T.V again and walked over to start my dinner for two.
Or three...
**************
"I'll be there around ten or so, okay? I got a job to help my mom out with the bills," Kai said, hugging me. I hugged him back and sighed.
"Why can't you be there, Kai? I was going to make food for us so we could talk about everything that's happened recently."
"Look, call Alycia over. If I don't come by, you two can have a girl's night, or whatever the hell you call it, okay?" He said, kissing my forehead and then kissing my neck before getting in his car and driving off.
I pulled out my phone and looked at my contacts.
Scrolling through, I realized, Jonathan still hadn't called me back. I groaned and pressed Alycia's contact.
***************
"So, Kai's not coming?" She asked, walking over to the kitchen and pulling out her popcorn bowl.
I swatted her away, "Hey! No food! You're going to ruin your dinner!"
"Uh, you sure you're not pregnant, DarkAngel?" Alycia asked, looking me over twice then crossing her arms. She gave a smirk then lifted a dark eyebrow. "You're showing the signs of a mom, you know. Who's the lucky man?"
"I checked, and double checked," I groaned, breaking the stiff pasta in half and dropping it in the boiling water. I whacked my hands down on the counter, which left them stinging a tad, and stared at my best friend. "I'm not pregnant. My period has come normally like always. I. Am. Fine."
"Whatever, but don't come crying to me when you have a baby kicking at your stomach, okay?" She walked over to the couch again and gave me a dumb smile when she sat down on the couch.
"Sure, Mom," I snapped back, laughing a little. "Now, are you hungry for some of my famous, homemade, pasta 'n a bowl?"
"Frick yes!!" Alycia said, reaching out towards a bowl. I walked over, after turning off the stove, and gave her some pasta. She licked her lips hungrily and almost immediately began eating. "Oh my frickin!!- Dis is some good shiat right here!!"
"Why do you get so emotional over food?" I asked, laughing. Alycia slowly turned her head, a shocked expression on her face. I had to hold in the giggles, she looked so serious, it was funny.
"Really? You have to ask?" She asked. I shrug and took a bite of pasta. She rolled her eyes and placed the pasta bowl on the table. "Food is the best, goddamn thing on this Earth. I am lucky to eat awesome food, everyday. That is the easiest way I can explain it!"
"Okay okay, say no more," I responded with a mouth full of noodles, sauce, and meat. I stopped chewing...
Meat...
What kind? I... would rather not say...
I blushed and swallowed, the sauce overpowered the noodles taste. I put two fingers up to my lips and blushed, memories of a month ago flashed through my mind.
Good God, what have I done to myself...?
"Ugh," I muttered, catching Alycia's attention. She asked what was wrong. I just sighed. "I think I'm becoming a pervert..."
"Why?" She asked, putting her bowl down again.
"Um, Kai."
It took her a second. She put the pieces together. Alycia smacked my arm and then squealed.
"SHUT UP, OR I WILL GO DEAF!!!!"
