Chapter 40 - CHAPTER FORTY

JAMIE'S POV

Logan's calm mother, continues to shout, "Jamie doesn't know about this family so let's keep it that way and if anyone of you encourages my son to go up against those, those people, then his wife and unborn child could suffer!" she shouts.

"Do you think that you or I could convince Logie after this?" I heard grandfather asks, "or even when he comes home to see Jamie's condition?" he added.

"Someone sold out Logan and Jamie's location and he will not rest until he uncovers the truth. " Ralph is dead. Tony and Chris is dead. Do you honestly think he's going to let their deaths be in vain?" my father-in-law says in a softer tone. "Someone heard there was a threat against him because of the case he was working on and used that, to attack." my father-in-law continue to explain to his wife.

"So you think, Logan's going to pick up the mantle you put down and go up against those , those horrible people and put Jamie in harms way?" my mother in-law asks in a lower tone.

"They are the ones who came knocking on his door." A strange voice chuckles, dryly, "she ended up in harms way but he didn't put her there" the strange man continued, "someone else did!"

"Just so you know, Logan's already called the name of the person he suspects and he is out for vengeance because from his point if view, the only person whose life was threaten that morning was his wife's" another strange man, who already saw Logan today, before me, said.

"So I just have to sit back and watch Logan's grandmother draw him back into the life I took him from?" Logan's mom, ask so softly, but full of anger, that I barely heard her.

"For his wife and child's sake, yes" my father-in-law says, "they started this war but Logan's going to end it" my father-in-law says proudly.

What life? What did his grandmother do? I was the intended target? If it wasn't the criminals who ended up behind bars that day during the shootout, then who?"

"This is to much too much." I heard my mother in-law laments. "I'm going to check on Jamie" she adds, walking off.

I quickly tiptoed to the living room, holding on to the back of the chair awaiting my mother in-law but she didn't come into the living room. Hearing the men talking and needing to know more, I went back to where I stood earlier, so I could learn more about my husband.

Leaning on the wall, "I've never met the new Mrs Daniels, but I know that to him, her life's more important than his own" one of the strange voices said.

I trust Logan and whatever is going on, or whatever he's is, or were involved in, he'll talk to me about it. I trust him, I went back to sit quietly at the dining table waiting to be served my breakfast.

I was still sitting waiting for more than half an hour when I heard screams. I came out of thoughts ready to run in fear, remembering the attack.

"Logan, you're home" Oh my God! oh my God " Jess squeals in excitement.

"Where's my wife?" I heard him ask hoarsely.

"Upstairs in her room" his grandfather responds. "give grandfather a hug, because Jamie's going to occupied the balance of your day." he says, as I hear a slap. Maybe he slapped Logan on his back.

"Ah" I heard, Logan's painful response.

"Sorry" grandfather apologizes.

"Dad" Logan greets his father.

"Good to have you home son. Good to have you back where you belong" my father-in-law says to Logan, no doubt hugging him.

"Where's Jamie room, I want to see her" Logan ask.

"Your old room" my father-in-law responds quickly.

I only heard footsteps retreating as the men who remained in the corridor, chuckles.

I wonder when they would realise that I'm still waiting for breakfast or lunch because it's after lunch or close too.

DARN YOU JEROME! He probably forgot all about me when be saw the pretty maid!

"URG! I'm hungry". I mutter to myself.

" Jamie!" Logan shouts,

"Jamie" my sister and mother in-law shouts.

"Jamie" Jer shouts, "oh shit" Jer says, as I hear footsteps coming towards the dining room.

"Shit, Jamie" Jer says, coming towards me, looking apologetic.

If I'm confined to a wheelchair, is this how my life will be? Feeling sorry for myself, because my husband is home and I can't run to him, or jump in his arms, to welcome him home. All I can do is sit and wait for him to come to me.

The tears flowed, like a dam that just burst open, because, I allow my emotions to take over.

Pushing past Jer, looking thinner than usual, even with his face covered with more than a inch of facial hair, I could still see his sexy smirk and a twinkle in his eyes.

"Jamie" he mouths quietly.

"I'm hungry!" I say, glaring at Jer with tears, flowing.

"Aww, my girl's hungry" Logan came forward, wrapping his arms around me, hugging me tight.

"Aww.. ouch, wait" I cried, loosening his arms around my waist.

"Logan, be careful" my mother in-law, reaches me quickly touching Logan's shoulders, before putting an arm around mines.

"Jerome, take Jamie up to her room" she says quietly.

Jer comes, lifting me bridal style, taking me upstairs."I'll send lunch up right away" she adds, looking at her son, sadly.

Logan's worried, glassy eyes met mines,as tears overflowed, when Jer walked away with me. The last thing I saw was, Logan slumped on a chair, holding his head in his hand, muttering, "f**k!, f**k, I did this..."

I used the bathroom before settling into Logan's bed, knowing he would be up soon.

I'm trying to build a positive attitude, in spite of all that's happened. It's not Logan's fault and I'll never allow him to think that.
