LOGAN'S POV
The lights that hung from the roof and walls of the house, position to shine on the flowers of this beautifully kept garden.
I have no idea what Jamie, the name I prefer to call her called me to discuss but I know it's not what I would prefer.
How can I tell her that I was totally smitten, if that's not to cheesy. when I first saw her at the wedding.
How can I tell her that I've never done this before and not look like a stalker.
I was drawn to the determination I saw in her. She didn't wear a genuine smile, the entire time I was there. She didn't look at anyone directly face to face. She used her camera, hiding behind it to see everyone, that's why she didn't see me or anyone else.
"What are you up to" she asks bluntly turning to fave me a few feet away from the house.
"Honestly?" I asked with raised eyebrows, thinking that it's too soon and not wanting to scare her.
She nodded, indicating that I could continue.
With a mischievous smile, "you" I said flatly
.
Not at all surprise, expressing no emotions, "and is a relationship with you the criteria needed for getting a contract with your company? " she asks bluntly.
Okay, this in not how I expected this evening to go and I must change the topic although Jamie seems to have a strong head on her shoulders and I won't use a job to be with her.
Smiling. "I know you don't know me, but I would never pay anyone to be with me.
With bland eyes she continues to stare at me, folding her arms, dangling the wine glass between her fingers. It was only then that I notice her glass was empty.
Deciding to go with the truth, "the day at the photo shoot was not the first time we met." I started explaining to her.
She stood silently facing me in the same spot in the same position, not expressing surprise at my confession. Man she's a tough one.
"We met at the Stanley's wedding, where I attended as a guest." I paused hoping for a reaction but there was still none, so I continued.
"I tried to speak to you at the reception many times but you were so engrossed on your job that you didn't see me, at all"I smiled, remembering how I felt, being shot down by a girl for the first time.
" So this" pointing to myself, then to her, "is me pursuing you" I said hope for a positive response from her.
"That's it?" She asks in the same bland tone.
"Uh. for now, yes" I said.
"My life is complicated" she started.
"I am twenty one years old and I am a mother to two teenagers. I have no complaints whatsoever and I fought the legal system to keep them since our grandmother passed and I have been working endlessly to make it work" she speaks firmly.
Lowering her gaze at the glass in her hand, "I have dreams and goals for them and for myself. Yes, getting a contract with your company will definitely give me a push in the right direction but I will not accept a contract from your company because you fancy me. I want a job that I'm good at with the chance to get better" she said with a small smile, apparently thinking that she has lost the job.
Quickly needing to explain the contract part. "Before you go any further, I did not offer you the contract my parents did" I said.
"Really? Even though they haven't seen the photos?" she doesn't believe me.
"I admit I sent my mother to visit the Stanley's for a wedding photo spread, but I also know my mom has a keen eye for talent when she sees it. In fact Mrs. Stanley is the one who give my mom high ratings about you. She is the one who made the shoot happen, not me" I said hoping she realizes that she got in on her own with Mrs. Stanley's help.
"Even if the shoot didn't happen, I would have found a way to meet you." I grinned.
She was actually shock to hear about Mrs. Stanley part in the shoot.
"I think I need to add that the contract does not restrict you to the men's line only" I said, noticing a small smile on her beautiful flawless face.
She wrapper her arms around herself and I didn't walk with a jacket to offer her.
" It's starting to get chilly, should we go in?" I asked.
Nodding, she smiled, walking away quickly leading me back to the house.
I followed her in, standing inside the kitchen as she secured the back door.
Giggling, "they cleaned up" she said happily.
Turning to look at me, "do you live with your parents?" she asks politely.
"Sometimes, but I have my own place" I answered wondering why she was interested.
"Okay, I'll pack you some extra food to take with you" she said, already walking to the cupboards taking out food containers.
"Uh, yo.."I started to protest, when she stopped me.
" My grandmother is watching " she whispers as she starts filling every container, even giving me a apple pie.
While she was packing the food, "what did you and Jess decide about school?"I asked. "Is she ready or still want time to decide." I added.
Pausing without looking at me, "she was already packed and ready for school tomorrow by the time I got home this afternoon. Apparently a friend called and told her what happened and said that you're my boyfriend." she said thoughtfully
Chuckling, "yeah, you can't deny, that it totally worked for us" he says still laughing.
"Maybe we should let it stick for awhile. it would help getting the Primes of my back?" I suggested without rethinking it.
Packing the containers in two bags, "I have to set an example for Jerome and Jess" she said to me and I totally agree.
Nodding, " that's true. Maybe we don't discuss it with anyone?" I asked
