The Vehicle runs great, with the Built-in Satellite GPS and Sensors instead of Windshields makes the ride stand out with a clear and unmatched, even if for now.
Pulling onto the side of the road to take a break, you check on the Foxes.
They are in a deep slumber, cuddled up and cosy on the comfy and soft bed.
You feel the hunger creep up in your stomach. The Vehicle has a built-in MRE heater, you put in the only MRE you have.
Hearing the sizzling of MRE cooking, the foxes slowly start to awake.
"Morning Owner, what you got there~?" Katie asks, rubbing her eyes.
Kate seems to still be asleep a bit, showing no reaction to the MRE cooking.
"Hi Katie, it's still evening. We'll just be going to take a little break here to eat dinner." you say, staring at the MRE.
"Owner, what is worrying you ?" Katie says, sitting next to you.
You put a hand on her leg stroking it gently.
"I was just pondering over...our Future." you say, taking off your mask.
Katie wags her a tail in response, staring silent into the Vehicle.
"Owner, when...you said that you would keep us safe and happy. We were certain you could do that for us. But we were not sure, we could do the same for you." Katie says grabbing your Hand.
The thought of you failing to keep them safe breaks into your head...a panic breaks in your head, nothing you felt before.
It seems like you have found yourself in another stalemate, not moving forward...but certainly not backwards either.
"Katie, all I ever wanted is to keep someone safe and happy...nothing else. Back then I thought if I ever get the chance to keep someone all to my self, I will do so with everything i have." you say, holding back tears.
Katie slowly pulls you into her lap, resting your head on it.
"We don't want you to give money for our happiness, all we want is to see you smile and live a happy life. Together with us." Katie says, drawing lines on your back.
Kate seems to have woken up, she gently crawls onto your back.
"Master, we don't want money or material items...all we want is to live together with you, until the end." Kate says, hugging you from behind putting her hands on your Abdomen and Chest.
Standing up to check on the MRE, it hasn't overcooked, that's a huge relief.
You hand the Foxes the main course and you remain with a Fruit Bar plus a pack of Peanut Butter and Crackers.
"Master, here...open up." Kate says, trying to feed you.
"It's fine, you two just eat up." you say humbly.
The Foxes look in confusion as you stare at the roof of the Vehicle.
"Owner, will you eat at home at least ?" Katie asks, wagging her tail a bit.
"Of course, I will this time I'll make it." you say with a smile.
After everyone eats you take the final Stage of the road.
Driving with the Foxes is quite a lot of fun.
They tell you jokes and keep you awake, plus they love the suspension when you hit bumps.
In the end, you arrive at Home in what feels like a couple of minutes, thanks to the Foxes most likely.
Having checked in with the Guards at the Gate and having parked the car inside your Garage.
Only things left to do is, to take a shower and actually make Dinner.
After you've taken a quick shower, you jump into the Kitchen, awaiting your Girlfriends arrival to enjoy the dinner.
"Master! We are here!" Kate says, walking down the stairs.
"You better have made dinner! Or you'll become dinner !" Katie says, walking up to you.
Their words, sending shivers down your Spine, you let out a giggle. The Foxes look confused as if they were expecting something else.
Few minutes pass and you present them with Dinner, a quick and easy one at that.
Their Tails start to wag uncontrollably, but...something is wrong.
"You two not gonna eat ?" you ask them, waiting for them to start eating.
"Master~ we are happy that you made food for us, but we wanted to make you dinner." Kate says, looking at you with pleading eyes.
"Hehe, you can..from tomorrow on." you tell them.
The Foxes are pouting, they look adorable.
With a huge growl coming from your stomach, the Foxes notice that you are waiting on them to start eating.
Dinner was nice and easy on the Stomach, you made an Omellete sprinkled with herbs beside it two medium-sized steaks, perfect for the Foxes appetite.
With the Foxes having fallen asleep faster than usual, you head downstairs.
Having plans for the future already made up, all you have to do is set them in motion.
Leaving the Bedroom silently, heading into your Weapons Room, you decide to take a look a the Girl's old Rifles.
"Milord, it's unwise to trade your sleep for Weapon Modifications." your Daemon suggests.
"I agree but this is mandatory, didn't I promise to keep them safe. So Weapon Maintenance is mandatory," you explain to him.
The Daemon repeats that he's existence is guaranteed unless you loose your hatred towards the world and society, or what's left of it.
Reassuring him that that will probably never happen unless you somehow lose your hatred in one swift move.
Starting to disassemble the Foxes Rifles to clean and modify them with what you have at hand.
Giving each of them a Reflex sight is crucial to improve target acquisition and to improve sight range.
The Barrels are of different calibre, therefore only one of them is able to equip a silencer.
The AK-122 has a thread protector on its barrel, hence it can mount a Silencer by changing it out for the chosen barrel mod.
The AN-105 has a very unique and special Muzzle Device, it is meant for the extremely fast two-round burst mode of the rifle to operate effectively.
The only way to mount a barrel mod on the AN, you require a special modding Kit. The Rifle is complexly built, leading to a complication when cleaning it.
The AK-122 can be cleaned with a normal rag, no special treatment needed.
On the other hand, the AN-105 requires extreme care and precision when cleaning, Kate has to learn it step by step.
While Katie has to exercise the same caution with her rifle due to it having a quite different recoil system from the traditional AKM platform.
In the end, the cleaning and slight modding of the Rifles takes a toll on you. The sleep that you ignored for almost 2 full hours now is starting to show.
Heading upstairs to cuddle with your Foxes again and fall asleep, you check if the Windows are locked.
After which you head to bed prepared for a fluffy and cosy sleep.
