Locked in my room, I could hear Dan talking.
His voice was agitated and authoritative.
He seemed to be pacing, "Commander, I assure you, our intel was incorrect. I investigated the meteor strike and it was just that, a stray meteor that made it through the atmosphere."
I felt happiness. Dan was being honest with me, he wanted to help me, he was my friend.
My door unlocked and he smiled at me, "Sam wants to play, Jonathan. Is that alright with you?"
I jumped for joy, hugged Dan and ran outside to meet Sam.
Things were taking a turn for the best.
I may actually succeed after all.
