I glance at myself in the mirror. Wet hair, fading to a brassy brown. Toffee colored skin that, despite the tone, always fail to hide my flushed cheeks. Then these piercing, almond-shaped eyes with permanent darkness under them. I look away as I hug the towel to my body. I never looked much like my mother. It was always something that confused me, considering the rest of my siblings had a little bit of her in them. But me... nothing. Even our body types were different. She'd always tell me I act so much like her that it didn't matter but... it mattered to me.
Especially now.
Shaking my head, I look over at my phone. Kahlil sent me a text message. This causes me to sigh from the earlier events.
I had just got home from school and Sammy was still ignoring me—going as far as to let Nico ride shotgun—so I started sulking in the kitchen. Wanting to eat my feelings, I got all the snacks and went straight to my room. I eventually fell asleep in a blanket of food. Then when I woke up the next day my mom was calling me, saying something about my phone. I still half-asleep and wasn't really paying attention so I told her to take care of it. I was about to go back to sleep but then I jolted up. I just realized that I left my mom with my phone.
Anything could've happened! She could've found out about Coach or, or Adriano! My eyes widen.
Oh shit! Then I burst out of my room to the kitchen to find her grinning like a fool as she talks on my phone to someone.
"Oh, of course! I'll let her know. Yeah, so nice talking with you Kahlil." I furrow my eyebrows as confusion set in. How does Kahlil have my– oh I remember. It was that time at lunch when Kahlil asked me over for his family dinner. After lunch ended I felt bad especially since he had this adorable little pout so we traded numbers. This was so he could occasionally text me throughout the dinner. But now, it came for to bite me in the ass. Dammit, Kahlil.
"Oh, Nevaeh! Why didn't you tell me you going to attend your friend's football game? Why haven't you ever mentioned Kahlil before?" I mentally sigh as she hands me my phone.
"Such a sweet boy." She winks at me.
"Mom!" She giggles.
"Oh, he's coming to pick you up so you should start getting ready." My eyes widen as my jaw drops.
"Mom!" She sighs, pushing me out the kitchen.
"There's no getting out of it to go on."
I sigh as I dry my hair. And here we are. Switching from the towel to my robe, I take out my makeup bag. Then, before I get, I braid down my hair. I need to remind myself to give my hair a touch-up. Once it's out of the way I wash my hands, dry them then hide my irises with brown colored contacts. After that, I conceal my bruises, freckles, beauty mark, under eye bags, and tattoos.
Can't be too careful. I stare at myself when I'm done. Especially when someone's already breathing down my neck. Getting out my setting spray, I seal the makeup. Leaving my bathroom, I find my wig, put it on and adjust the bangs.
When it's to my liking I go to my clothes to find my outfit. By the time do and put on my glasses a knock is heard from my door.
"Yes?" The door opens slowly as Sammy peaks his head in.
"Your friend is here in the living room." He mumbles softly as he avoids eye contact. I frown but nod nevertheless.
"I'll be right out, thanks, Sammy." He bobs his head then leaves quickly. I sigh, grabbing my phone before I leave the room myself. As I get closer to the living room, the laughter bouncing from that room becomes more apparent.
"Oh! Wade Collins is your father. I bet you're so proud." I peak my head around the corner to see Kahlil chuckling with my mom.
"Extremely, it's a lot to live up to." I blink a couple times as my gaze trails his frame.
God, a football jersey never looked so good. The way it accommodates and compliments his sculpted physique. My eyes subconsciously travel below the belt. Leaving nothing to the imagination.
His deep laughter fills my ears as he lifts his arm to rub the back of his neck. My gaze instantly snaps up as his muscles flex. Sweet baby Jesus—
"Nevaeh?" The blood drains from my face. Oh shit. I jump out of hiding as I laugh nervously.
"Kahlil! Hi!" I avoid his gaze as I look around the living room then to Mom.
"Where is everyone?" As if on cue, Sammy comes into the living room with a sandwich. Kahlil smiles at him.
"Did you pinch the sides together? Like... Uncrustable?" There's thick humor that coats his mocking words. Sammy's cheeks tint a light pink as his sits holds his sandwich.
"No!" He frowns and takes a large bite out of the snack to hide his embarrassment. This causes Kahlil to laugh while Mom and I crack a smile.
"Awww, like brother, like sister." My smile immediately disappears as Kahlil's eyes find mine. It's Sammy's turn to smile with Mom.
"What!" Color comes back to my face as my eyes widen. My lips form a thin line.
Too much color.
He smiles in a teasing way that makes me want to rip his jersey right off... I brush my bangs out of my face. I need to chill. Then he shakes his head as he comes closer to me. I glance at Mom and Sammy to see that they've noticed my change in appearance. They furrow their eyebrows and give questioning looks but thankfully keep quiet. When I focus back on Sammy we make eye contact then instantly look away remembering what's been going on between us the past couple of days. I frown. I should apologize to him, he was just trying to be a good brother to a horrible excuse for a sister...
My eyes widen as my glasses hit the bridge of my nose. They instant meet Kahlil's as he smirks down at me. My cheeks darken at his proximity. He drops his hand from my frames as his hands find his pockets.
"Time to hit the road."

I quickly avert my eyes as I focus on the game in front of me. Maybe if I ignore them they won't mess—
"Nevaeh!" I mentally sigh as I turn and put on a small smile.
"Hi, Adriano." I fix my glasses as I make a quick glance at his friend.
"Leon." Mona smiles then stands to hug Adriano.
"Hi, sweetie. What took you two so long?" Adriano laughs.
"Sorry, Mom," He glances at Leon, who cracks a smile, before returning to his gaze to Mona.
"Lost track of time." I shift awkwardly. Of course, I would meet two guys parents in one day. Wade smiles as he looks at me.
"You're already friends with each other. That's great." I give him a soft smile but don't say anything. Kahlil's father is a very happy-go-lucky guy. Adriano comes to sit next to me then wraps his arm around me, forcing me into a weird embrace... for me at least.
"Of course! We all eat lunch together." He chuckles and shakes me slightly. Mona shakes her head as she hides her smile.
"Adri, stop. You're scaring the poor girl." I furrow my eyebrows. Do I really look scared? I'm just trying to understand why Adriano is so close to me while I'm not Nadia.
God, I'm meeting the mother of the person I've fucked on multiple occasions. Ugh, what is my life! Adriano lets go and moves to give me so space as he chuckles.
"Oh, she's fine." The lovely couple of the evening chuckles along with Adriano while I puff out my flushed cheeks. Leon comes to sit by Adriano, thankfully leaving only to deal with sitting next to one gorgeous specimen...
Well.
I glance to my left to see Wade cheering for his son then whisper a joke to Mona. I shake my head, turning to the game.
God, I know too many sexy guys. I frown. And why the hell am I sitting next to Kahlil's Dad?!
"Hey, Nevy." I almost groan. Can't I just watch the fucking game?!
"Yes?" I don't bothering look from the game as I try to spot Kahlil's number.
"So you want that holy dick to corrupt you?" I choke on my saliva, snapping my head to the boys with wide eyes and a red face. I press my palm against my heart to try to calm it down while Adriano and Leon stare at me with amusement on dumbass faces.
"Kinda ironic, don't you think?" I sit up straight and try to act normal so the adults don't join the conversation. I don't want them to hear this.. especially Wade.
'W-what are you talking about!?' Leon rolls his eyes while Adriano smiles.
"Again with this, what did I tell you?" I frown at Leon then sigh to try to calm myself.
"Can't we just support Kahlil by watching the game?" I whine. Yes, I know, but I honestly don't wanna deal with these two. Before either of them can respond, the crowd jumps and hollers. This causes us to move our gaze to the field. My jaw drops as I stand up.
"Go Kahlil!" Wade and Mona scream next to me. He jumps around as he throws the football down.
"Did you guys see him? He just ran ten yards and number 48, on the other team, was going to grab his leg but he backflipped into the end zone!" Wade laughs and cheers while he and Mona jump and hug. I blink a couple times then look to the boys to see them already looking at me. We blink at each other then I snap out of it and glare at them.
"Jerks." I huff out as I cross my arms before ignoring them and turn to watch the rest of the game. I can't believe they made me miss something so amazing!
Cock suckers.
This continues for awhile with them messing with me and I trying to ignore them and watch the game until Adriano nudges Leon.
"What?"
"I'm hungry," He pats his pockets to make sure he has his wallet on him. Leon nods as Adriano stands up. He looks to the others.
"I'm going to get some food," He lifts an eyebrow.
"Any requests?" Mona and Wade shake their head so his eyes flicker to me.
Though I'm hungry too I don't try to show it, I don't wanna talk to either of them at all.
"Nevaeh?" He sings my name while I slouch and puff my cheeks out in defeat, knowing my stomach wants some needed nutrient.
"Corn dog... please." He smirks at me before nodding.
"Alright, corn dog it is!" Then he leaves. I sigh.
Hopefully this will give me a little break.
I watch Khalil in blissfully silence for about 15 minutes which I honestly didn't think I'd get since Leon is still here.
When I feel like he's not gonna do anything else I relax and completely concentrate on the game.
"So, Nevy." Fuck, I hate my life. I ignore Leon as I focus on the game. Where the hell is Adriano?! I go stiff when he places his hand on the other end of my seat and scooches closer. My face betrays me as it blooms with crimson colors at how close Leon is to me. I become more aware that I'm now trapped between his hand and body.
"Ever been to Adri's?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"Why would I ever need to go to Adriano's apartment?" I feel his smirk since his face is right next to mine.
"I never said what of place he lived in." I glance at him before looking back at the game as I push up my glasses.
"Mona was talking to me about you two before you guys arrived." I mentally give him a smug look while his smirk falters a bit.
Yeah, you thought you got me huh but nope!
"Oh, yeah, and what you gals say?" His smugness is back, what's he think? I clear my throat.
"Um, we... You know she loves her son very much." I curse myself in my head. I need to focus. I frown.
But how the hell can I when I feel those eyes burning a bullet into the side of my skull!
He nods slowly as he looks over my face.
"Well—"
"Hey! Got your dog!" Oh, thank god! I almost sigh in relief when I see Adriano coming up to us. He looks to the couple next to me as he hands me my corn dog.
"Did I miss anything?" Mona shakes her head while Wade stares, lost in his sons game. He nods and turns back to me.
"Oh, and I didn't know if you wanted condiments or not so I just got mustard." I beam as I take the mustard.
"Ah, thank you!" I love mustard! Adriano chuckles at my enthusiasm then takes his seat. I happily open the packet and squeeze it on my food. Oh, I'm starving. I lick a little of the mustard off the corn dog then smile.
Oh my, it tastes so good! Putting the empty mustard packet in the little corn dog bowl thing, I open my mouth for the delicious food.
It's been so long since I've had a corn dog!
I close my eyes and moan into the first bite as it hits my taste buds.
Oh, wait!
My eyes snap open as I cover my mouth and turn to Adriano.
"How much did it cost, I'll pay you back..." my words falter as I lower my dog and swallow my food.
They are looking at me but they are definitely not listening. I blush, averting my eyes while Leon chuckles at me.
"Um, guys." Adriano snaps out of it, blinking a couple times which causes Leon to laugh harder.
"Huh." I frown, glancing at my bitten corn dog.
Horndog.
