Chereads / Divine Demon God / Chapter 16 - Cheating Hardwork

Chapter 16 - Cheating Hardwork

Okay so I know some of you might be slightly confused as to why Hunter's Divinity is getting stronger even though he doesn't do anything major. So Divinity is basically bringing order to chaos and to do so they need to train their powers and push through their limits. Hunter is not only a demon but the Realm King of Hell (spoiler) Realm kings have it easier becoming Divine Dieties, because they embody entire realms. Hell is represented as Divine Punishment, Unbridled Emotions, and (by mortals) Evil. Because of this Hunter is able to increase his Divinity just by having extreme amounts of emotion, doing an extremely evil deed, or punishing multiple sinners. As he increases his Divinity he'll get more abilities and powers that are special to his personage.

Hunter looked at his brothers as he finally sat up from Stephanie's lap. "Eldest brother, I think I have an idea for dealing with the hounds." Everyone leaned in upon hearing this. "Feniri are resilient to wind, earth, and storm magic because of their coat of fur, they are also resilient to fire magic because their fur actually holds a lot of water in it. Their body temperature is also extremely high which allows them to counter low level ice magic. However if we have Stephanie cast a hail storm, have the wind mages increase the wind speed which would help drop the temperature, and have the ice mage cast freezing spells, we can definitely freeze the regular Feniri's fur. After we freeze it solid we can use the solid water as a conductor for lighting spells and we might even be able to use melee weapons to shatter their fur allowing us to be able to attack them easily."

Spartacus contemplated for a bit then nodded his head. "Okay but what about the alpha Feniri?"

Hunter's eye brows scrunched together as he thought of how to deal with the alpha. "Killing it won't be easy, especially when it has tens of other Feniri guarding it. However we should be able to at least hinder it so it can't take part in the fight right away. Stephanie as a storm mage can you change the size of the hail your spell calls forth?"

Stephanie thought for a second before shaking her head. "I believe I'd have to be a level four storm mage to do that." She said dejectedly while she squeezed her arms to her chest. Hunter smiled before gently taking her hand and stroking her cheek. "If I can make you a level four mage, do you think you can master that skill before they arrive tomorrow?"

Her eyes widened as her face reddened before she nodded her head. Ian looked at Hunter quizzically. "Brother, what are you up too?" He spoke softly, but with firmness, glancing around at all the adventurers around them who were in shock upon hearing this news.

Hunter smiled as he pulled down his mask and winked at Ian. "I'm going to cause some chaos of course." Upon seeing Hunter's full face, Stephanie forgot to continue breathing. She looked at his captivating, dark ocean blue eyes, that sparkled as if stars existed in the sea. She weakly rose her hand to his face and traced his nose and then his sturdy jaw line, all of this in shock, awe, and surprise that a boy would have such defining features before reaching man hood. [If he's this handsome as a child, he's definitely going to be a lady's killer when he becomes a man!]

Hunter chuckled before he turned and looked at Alexi. "Old man, can you and the others give me and this lovely lady a moment?" Alexi's shock quickly disappeared as he burst out into hearty laughter before nodding his head. He quickly stood up and ushered everyone else out. The brothers quickly looked at each other before Ian and Orion took positions, one blocking the door, and the other patrolling between the windows.

Spartacus looked at Stephanie with a smirk. "Well than, you ready to find out what your little man is?" With a blush, Stephanie looked at Spartacus before determination spread across her face and she nodded at him.

Hunter looked between the two with confusion on his face. Spartacus turned to him and, putting his hand on his shoulder, said. "We basically told her what you were back when you were injured and all the mortals thought you were dead." Hunter nodded slightly as he glanced at Stephanie, using all his abilities to read how Stephanie felt.

[Holy shit! He's an actual demon?! So what is he planning to do to me? Are the others also demons?!] Shock and fear spread throughout Stephanie's body, and Hunter was able to sense it. Sadness appeared in his eyes, just long enough that Stephanie was able to catch it, before it changed and he smiled with a nod. Had she not seen his eyes, Stephanie would have thought that his smile was genuine, but she was able to realize that it was now a smile of grief filled loneliness that was capable of tricking most people.

Slowly walking up to Hunter, and taking his hand, she looked him in the eyes. "So what if your a demon? Not only did you swear to help me get my revenge, but you've also been very sweet and far more human than other people are." She looked around at all of them. "The fact that you four are willing to protect those other children and are coming here to stop the Feniri from killing even more people proves that you guys aren't evil... So thank you, and I'll gladly trust you four with my life."

Hunter's eyes widened as he looked at Stephanie, a redness spreading across his face as he smiled more naturally than before. Orion began laughing while Ian shook his head, holding back his laughter. Stephanie looked at the two confusedly before returning her attention to Hunter and Spartacus. "My brothers aren't demons like me. Orion is the only angel, Ian is a Levithian, and Spartacus is actually a god."

Stephanie's eyes widened as she heard this. She looked at the others with complete awe on her face. While she was distracted, Hunter looked at Spartacus. "Are you capable of nullifying the pain that it will cause?"

Spartacus closed his eyes, focusing in on his Divinity. Looking at his Divinity which glowed a bright golden color, Spartacus went through finding that his magic capabilities was far different than that of every mage and wizard in the world. He focused on a slight part of his Divinity, pulling out a small thread and squeezing it in his mental fist. Slowly the thread turned green, and as Spartacus watched, this green spread up and down his Divinity, forming a single thin green line in his golden Divinity.

He opened his eyes and and sparks flashed amongst them, much like lightning flashing amongst the clouds. He looked at Hunter, who had one of his eyebrows raised in slight surprise, and nodded his head. Hunter returned his attention to Stephanie and gently took her hand, squeezing lightly.

"I don't know if this is going to work, but hypothetically speaking it should. So demons are creatures that are chaotic as you know. If you drink a small amount of my blood it should increase your mana capabilities, bringing you from a level two mage to a level four mage. This process would be painful, however Spartacus is going to use his power to nullify that pain for you. I don't know what any side effects may be, but since I'm wanting it to increase your magical strength it should."

Stephanie looked at him in shock. "Wait, you can will your blood to do whatever you want?! How is that possible?!" [Wait a second, didn't he say I'm supposed to drink it? Oh my gods, I'm going to have Hunter's blood inside me. That is both disgusting and embarrassing!] Her ears reddened due to blush while at the same time her face paled on the thoughts of drinking demon blood. She glanced up seeing worry in Hunter's eyes as he looked at her.

"Hey if you aren't comfortable with it, we don't have to do it. I can try and think up another way of helping you get stronger." He said quietly as he pulled Stephanie close to him.

Orion looked at Stephanie and then at Hunter before shaking his head. "Hunter, your blood is the only way we can make her stronger right now. We could try directly working with her Divinity, but if we damage that, it could cause irreversible damage on her. Damage that I don't think even I could repair." Hunter heard this and nodded as he looked at Stephanie with a multitude of emotions in his eyes.

Seeing the emotions dancing in his eyes, Stephanie raised her hand to caress his cheek before giving him a gentle smile. "It's okay, I'll go with the blood route so you don't have to worry about my safety." Hunter looked at her in shock before he nodded.

Spartacus carried an empty mug and a kitchen knife over, setting it on the table in front of Hunter. Hunter lift his left arm over the mug, picked up the kitchen knife, and slit his own wrist, causing his blood to come gushing out in a torrent. Using his mind's eye, he focused on his healing ability, forcing it to not work and allowing him to continue bleeding. He aimed the injury towards the mug, quickly filling it until the blood just touched the rim. He stopped using his mind's eye which lead to his cut quickly sealing and leaving no scar tissue behind.

Stephanie looked at the mug of blood, and the inexplicable nature of disgust, over the concept of drinking blood, appeared on her face. Hunter took her hand and squeezed gently, his eyes looking into hers, a final question seemingly being asked and answered between the two.

Stephanie picked up the mug and slowly brought it up to her lips. She stopped and looked at the others again and as she opened her mouth Hunter stopped her from drinking it.

"Sorry, I just had an idea that should help you after you drink it." He looked down in embarrassment, before looking back up at Stephanie. "Okay, as soon as you drink the mug close your eyes and picture your mana as a liquid ball with tendrils, then imagine my blood as a ball as well. Combine a small bit of your mana tendrils into my blood and have your mana sort through my blood looking for golden specks and what not in my blood. After you find these specks absorb only the specks into your mana. This should increase your strength without driving you insane or evil. Make sure you don't absorb any of my actual blood and only the golden specks. After you've completed it all you will probably end up coughing up the excess blood."

Stephanie nodded, blinked, and then began chugging the mug down. As soon as she finished the mug off she slammed it down on the table while closing her eyes and doing exactly as Hunter had said. As she used this process, she zoned out from the physical world and became unaware of the conversation between Hunter and Spartacus.

"Those gold specks are slivers of your Divinity, are they not?" Spartacus eyed Hunter as he began using his new found ability GOD'S RELIEF. His hands glowed a light green as he held them up, palms directed towards Stephanie.

"Yes they were originally my Divinity but now they will be hers. Besides I noticed that Divinity seems to recover back when we killed that lord, so I figured I'd increase her strength while slightly opening a path towards becoming a Divine One; whether she fully opens that gate is up to her own fortune and abilities." Hunter replied tersely, keeping a watchful eye on Stephanie as he began sensing both her mana increasing and her mortality slightly purifying.

As Stephanie opened her eyes she began violently hacking up the filtered blood. Hunter filled a mug with some ale and brought it back to her, allowing her to rinse out her mouth. "Thanks." She gratefully took the mug, and after rinsing her mouth, drank the rest of the ale that was in it.

After which she began stretching her arms and her legs, clenching her fingers and toes before releasing them. She looked up at Hunter in awe as she smiled. "Wow, not only did it increase my mana, but my body also now feels stronger and healthier."

As Stephanie stood up from the table she fell, passing out from the overload of power. Hunter lunged forward, catching her before she hit the ground. Spartacus looked over her as Hunter picked her up in a bridal carry.

"I'm going to take her upstairs so she can rest and recover before the Feniri arrive tomorrow." Hunter carried Stephanie upstairs, finding an empty room and setting her down on a bed. Spartacus came up after Hunter closed the door.

He smiled at Hunter as he walked over. "Stay with her for now. We can keep watch for tomorrow." He winked and turned around, walking back down stairs.

Hunter blushed as he looked at the closed door. He went back into the room and walked over to the window, looking out into the village and watching the sun set. As night came Hunter tucked Stephanie under the sheets and then he layed down on the empty side of the bed, staying on top of the sheets. He closed his eyes and focused on calming his heart while subconsciously paying attention to everything going on around the town.

Spartacus is the God King, and is also the Realm King of Order. As the Realm King of Order it's his job to bring order to chaos, and since magic uses spells, enchantments, chantings, and castings to alter the world that is why he is naturally heightened to that. Magic users use these methods to tap into the power of chaos and rewrite it into something more tangible that effects the world around them.
