Chapter 34 - Chapter Three : It's Christmas in Peppermint! Part 2

" I definitely can't wait to see this room now," says Hazel. Imagining this beautiful room with so many beautiful books reminds her of the bookcase in her childhood home that she loved so much and would spend endless amount of hours curled up in this soft pink chair.''Well then, let's go get on the road, shall we ''says Liam as they exit her penthouse apartment and head out of the building and on their way until they arrive back in Peppermint.

''Beautiful house,'' says Hazel when she gets out of the car. Loving that, she finally gets to see their house. She's been picturing its interior and exterior several times before going to bed each night. Seeing the house now, she realized that it doesn't come even close to what she imagined.

'''Thank you Zoey actually picked our house's color; she always loves this kind of pastel green' 'tells Liam. Once they enter the house, Hazel sees a picture of Liam and a woman she assumes is Zoey from their wedding day.

''Is that Zoey?'' asks Hazel.

''It sure is, god, I miss her, ''says Liam.

''I knew her; she was my camp counselor, back when I was in camp. I loved Zoey; she was the best, ''states Hazel.

''No way what a coincidence, she always loved exploring different camps; however, when Zoey left, we were apart. I missed her like crazy, and I couldn't wait until we were reunited. It was as were never apart from one another'' says Liam.

''So she was gone in the summer, I am guessing when you two were in high school?'' questions Hazel curiously on the two of them apart when Hazel was away at camp?

''Yes, we were; she was a camp counselor the summer after our junior year and senior, which was hard for me since we were this starting this new relationship which never got to see our other half. I think that's why attending the same university together made it all worth it. To reconnect after the lost time away from each other those two summers ''says Liam.

'' You two almost sound as you were the perfect couple, ''says Hazel. She makes herself wonder if Lazel ever can even happen? Seeing that Ziam is the main thing that seems to be going on in Liam's mind?

''Trust me when I tell we were not perfect, and it took a lot of hard work, which had to do with communication, compromising and as a matter of fact the critical key to a strong relationship is honesty and trust because if you don't have that your entire relationship can come crumbling down. Without it and our first year of marriage felt as it was going to come crumbling down because it's almost as if you are putting up a new building; if you don't have a solid foundation to build it, then it will just come crashing down. At first, Zoey and I didn't realize this truth. We could hardly see eye to eye on things. I remember one of our quarrels. I was so furious that I wanted to get out of the house as fast as I could, and then Zoey stopped me. With teary eyes, she begged me not to leave, and that our constant quarrels hurt her so much. Her statement cut me so deep that I couldn't move anymore. I just stood there. For moments, we kept staring at each other in silence. It was Zoey who broke the silence. She suggested that we take a seat. After we both calmed down, she asked me if it would be okay for both of us to go for marriage counseling. I nodded in agreement. That was the turning point in our marriage. The counseling took us a year to complete, and that's how we saved our marriage. Then a few days later we were gifted by a great surprise that Zoey was pregnant with Tom and it was as the universe was giving us a fantastic gift ''tells Liam.

''Wow, I had no idea, but yet again, I never knew that side of camp counselor Zoey, just from when she was a camp counselor at camp. I have to admit that I was a little bummed when I didn't see her for my third year at camp; however, I am guessing that the two of you had other plans during the summer once you both were in college ''states Hazel.

''Yes, she was debating to but didn't want to be away from me, after being away the first two summers, of our relationship[ together ''says Liam.''I can see that now, so where are those magazines?'' asks Hazel curiously, wanting to get her hands on past issues of her magazines. ''Right, they should be in the living room unless the magazines were moved after her passing; having anything out that reminded me of Zoey only made me sadder when I thought about her, ''says Liam.

Hazel then heads into the living room and checks over by the couch ''they are not there.is there anywhere else Zoey could've possibly put them or misplaced them?'' asks Hazel curiously, wondering if they were there and maybe Liam moved them so that way the magazines were out of sight but mostly out of mind?

''Um, check the library sometimes; she brings her magazines in there and places them on the bookshelves that way if she ever wants to take a break from the current book that she is reading, which is. Doubtful, considering that she can never get her nose out of a book no matter what. I have often called out her name and never received a response since she is in another world.

''Works out great in my favor since I have been dying to see this room, ''states Hazel, as she follows Liam into the room. Seeing two bookshelves with each shelf filled up to where they are even books on top of the rows of books on the shelves. While browsing all of the shelves and reading the back cover of each book, she then finds a fascinating book.''You can borrow that while you're here visiting if you would like ''says Liam. Watching how memorized Hazel is by the book she is holding in her hands, Liam then looks over to his right and sees Zoey sitting in her chair, but she doesn't look happy for once. When she sees Hazel inside of her favorite room in the house, along with her private space. As Zoey then thinks to herself,'' why did he bring her in here and second of all, why would he bring another woman in the house that we started our lives at''.
