As my mother and father bolted down a dirt road with me strapped onto my mothers chest I began to ponder many things about this world. Why did the world shake as soon as I was born? Was this reincarnation planned by the heavens and if so then why?. Pondering things by my self wont do me any good I thought. As we drew to a fork in the road and turned left my parents faces began to drop as the loud crashing of raging rapids of a river became increasingly louder as time went by. My parents entered a clearing in the Lush forest and raced through a muddy path to once again enter another clearing but this time it wasn't another path clearing, but a man-made clearing meant for houses.
As my mother and father's faces relaxed realising that their house had not been destroyed we proceeded to head inside. My father wen't first as he pushed open the timber door that looked like it could break at any second. After checking for any damages to the inside of the house and finding none he called for me and my mother to enter the house. My mother gracefully stepped up the wooden stairs leading to the porch and walked through the open door. The home was obviously a cottage in the middle of no where and could be described as run down and shabby. In my mind though I was awestruck at a sight that to me looked like something equivalent to $100k in cash. In my previous world all houses were either fully glass, concrete, metal or nuclear fused steel created in a synthetic volcano. Of course only nobles and above could afford that luxury since it resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands of war slaves every year. Because of this a shack was a sort of an urban legend of a past generation. The furniture inside was of course wood as well but some of it was neatly polished and the house's interior was free of cobwebs and clean of trash which was completely the opposite of what I had thought would be the case from the outside. My mother and Father walked into another room which was decorated quite nicely for a child with a limited number of carved wooden toys in boxes and a crib in the far left corner of the room. After being uncomfortably fed milk by my mother I was put in the crib and began to recall the memory of my fathers body turning a shade of blue.
I remembered being puzzled and curious at the same time so I had intently stared at his body head to toe. Recalling that memory I was able to discern that this world had some sort of power that could possibly be like the IC from my world or it could be a rare genetic mutation that allowed the body to exhibit some sort of self defence mechanism whenever fear is felt. From the memory, I recalled my father mumbling a very short word before making his body radiate blue. At the time I did not realise that that very word and action done by my father would forever change my life. The consequences of my fathers actions then and there could neither be considered good or bad because three days after a day that would soon be called 'Wateh' my father introduced me to 'magic'.
After spending a whole 2 weeks either in the crib, in my mothers arms, watching my father milk the cows and sheer the sheep I decided it was time for me to learn to crawl. It was a tedious and irritating process that was limited due to my parents picking me up whenever I was trying to crawl but that all came to an end when I was 5 months old. This astonished my parents since their 'friends' had said that most infants start crawling from 6-13 months old. I was able to do it earlier than most since I had already been a baby and had a vast comprehension of what to do. I was crawling all around the house by the time I was six and was being taken to the nearby city or so called 'settlement' with my mother on weekdays when my father was off at his job which I still didn't know what it was since he always left before I woke up from my slumber, and on the weekends with my dad which he took off for me. On a Friday while out with my mother in a part of the settlement we hadn't been to before I spotted a shop which sprouted a name I never thought i'd hear used in a literal term, "The Ichiinohito's Town Adventurer Guild." I couldn't believe my eyes. That added more curiosity to my mind and gave me more evidence that suggested there was some sort of 'power' used by the people of this world.
I hopelessly wriggled around in the sash that my mother tied to her to hold me in but to no avail. She saw me looking at the store with eyes that showed a curiosity and longing to enter the store like a six year old picking out his favourite Ramen or a 12 year old eyeing his fathers alcohol. My mother looked at me with a stern and serious gaze and said "don't grow up to be like you're father and risk your life killing beasts just for money, go to school and get a job that doesn't end up with you being taken away from me." She said this because she thought I couldn't understand her but that couldn't have been more wrong. I had disregarded everything she said after 'like your father' and had lost interest to enter the shop. My mother conversed with other mothers about the struggles of being a mother along the way home which pleased because I knew she had friends.
Once back at the cottage earlier than usual I saw my father wearing light leather trousers and no shirt revealing his well built ripped grey skin as he danced around wielding a long bamboo stick while his body exuded a blue aura. My mother's cheeks were slightly red from both embarrassment and seeing her husband without a shirt on but that soon turned into a face of admiration and hope as we watched my father dance and swing the poll of bamboo around according to where he leapt or stepped. The dance to my mother looked like some sort of ritual but to me I saw the fierce aura of a dragon. My father finished his display and noticed us.
He walked over to us and conversed with my mother for about ten minutes before asking me if I enjoyed the show. Of course my tongue muscles and synapses were still developing so I couldn't respond. He remembered he was talking to a baby and laughed at himself before we headed inside. Today I learned that my father was an adventurer and that he was able to produce some sort of blue aura around his body. As I sat in my crib watching my father leave the house every morning as I got up earlier now thanks to my body developing, going to the shops with my mother, analysing events from that day or learning to walk I was now 11 months old.
Being eleven months old I had learned how to walk. The amount of sweat and tears that went into me learning to walk made me feel a ridiculous amount of pride. I had still not explored the room in the far end of the house as I was limited with crawling but now that I could walk, opening the door was not impossible. Astonishment was what I felt as my eyes took in the shelves upon shelves lined with books. I had managed to grasp the basic alphabet and some easy words and could safely say that this world posses' a power that my other didn't and that was 'magic'. In my previous word when you trained your IC to power up you needed to have unlocked readable 'Ki' and 'Pathways'. Ki, which was accumulated through meditation, feeling your surroundings, pressurising the stomach area and forming a core of small 'intent'. Once the core was formed it couldn't be upgraded through meditation but by sensing the surroundings, and battle experience. When first given an IC you couldn't use it until you hit the third uncoloured stage. Which meant that battles were bloody and scary, death was likely, fear and nervousness always got the better of you and physical labour was both physically and mentally draining. Only when your intent had reached it's peak could you begin to form pathways.
Pathways were pathways of Ki that were formed by excessive physical and mental labour, facing life and death situations commonly and meditating. Meditating became useful again as with pathways unlocked Ki could be accumulated which drastically heightened the senses, tempered the body and began to shave off bits of fear. When the pathways where formed from the Ki core to the IC and through the nervous system and skeletal system the IC would be activated and start to leak radiation energy which changed the users being on a cellular level which inflicted constant pain. I thought to my self while reading the basics of 'magic structure' that the Ki was very similar. I began to meditate and feel my surroundings when suddenly my eyes stayed shut and everything turned black. Specks of black dots filled my vision and I was wondering how I could see black on Black. The dots turned into into stars and stayed still, almost feeling like it was calling me I grabbed a star and felt my left hand burn. I screamed at the top of my lungs but nothing happened. Eight more stars rushed into my hand and one to my stomach. I snapped out of the black vision after fainting form the pain and Looked around me. I was lying on the ground when I raised my left hand and saw a black mark shaped like 8 different stars each with it's own colour, red, blue, yellow, black, green, white, brown and purple. "Hajimemashite." A voice ran through my head sending shivers down my spine while my left hand was burning. I looked down at my hand to see all the stars were gone!
