Chapter 12 - Polarity - Hint

Well done?

I envision myself banging his bloody head against the walls of the room.

I didn't come here to be tested. I didn't come here to deal with this.

"Calm down." Liliana urges me, "You're getting too worked up."

"Now you want to talk to me?! Too worked up? You know how important this man is. He has the answers I need."

Before Liliana gets the chance to respond to me I feel something strange develop in my chest.

A warm energy.

It explores my torso. It feels like it's looking for something.

Suddenly, I feel it slither down my arms into my hands. The energy dissipates in my hands and as it does I feel the wounds in my hands seal tightly.

I stand up.

As I do a new energy develops in my head.

A black abyss flashes red.

Black to red. Black to red. Black to red.

I can see it. In between the flashing I see wavy red strings.

I grab that energy. I don't know how I do, but I grab it and I can feel it all over my body.

"Roman! Stop. I don't know how you're doing this but you need to stop! I can answer all your questions soon!" Liliana cry's out at me.

Again, I don't comprehend anything she says.

My only desire in this moment is to kill this man in front of me.

I lock eyes with the king and I see his smile grow. My anger grows with it.

Like earlier, he calmly stands up and walks down the stairs. He reaches the bottom and stands just a few feet away from me.

I launch forward with a superman punch, and the king dodges my attack.

I yell out of anger and chase him down. I throw punch after punch. My rage grows more and more but no matter how much I want to, I can't hit him.

The king jumps backwards and makes distance between us.

"You are clouded in anger, why?" He speaks down to me. His tone is that of a true king. I'm insignificant to him.

"If you attack me again I will kill you without a second thought." He calmly says me. His command ends with a re-release of his power.

Just like before, it suffocates me, but this time I can withstand it. I don't fall to my knees.

I slowly walk towards him, it's the fastest I can go.

"You deserve no answer!" I roar back at him.

"I must admit, you have great willpower. As well as power in general, but attacking me was the worst mistake you could've made. Goodbye." He says blankly while staring at me.

I see his eyes flash a dark blue as he finishes his sentences and behind his head a large blue ethereal sword is formed. The sword immediately points at me, tip first, and is thrusted towards me with no warning.

As the sword flies towards me all my anger disappears. All the energy I could so vividly see and feel is gone. All my hope is gone. All of it replaced, with fear.

Fear of death.

As soon as that overwhelming fear buries its roots within me, I feel Liliana take control of my body and I jump high into the air, dodging the sword.

I feel so relieved. I feel so dumb. So many emotions ignite within me, but I'm not able to relish in them as I feel my mind shut down. The last thing I see before I lose consciousness is the flying mystical sword follow me as I launch into the air. I laugh a little at my thoughts.

...

Liliana launches into the air, dodging the kings ethereal sword. However, the sword follows Liliana into the air. As Liliana see's this she perfectly maneuvers her body to curve around the sword, barely dodging it. The sword flies past her and into the ceiling of the room, piercing it and creating a precise hole in the shape of the blade.

Liliana, in Roman's body falls back to the ground. She lands and cracks the cement beneath her; yet, her body is unharmed.

The king smiles, bigger than ever before at the sight of the boy landing. The boy's eyes glowing light blue.

"There you are. Liliana, the 10th Telum of Noctis. The strongest Celestial Spirit in the world. It is an honor." The king ends his message of honor with a bow.

"You are quite brave; knowing my strength yet still attacking me and my partner." Liliana says to the king.

"I apologize for my actions, I only wished to test the boy. I was not expecting his violent actions." The king apologizes with a roguish smile.

Liliana grins slightly, "Your actions as king are interesting. Times really are different. I will not denounce your actions, however I do need some questions answered. Shall we have a talk?"

"Of course."

Liliana spoke with confidence. One could tell the position she once held was an important one as even to this day she is given high amounts of respect.

The 10th King of Noctis. Regarded as "The Kind King", he was known for the love he held for his people and his kingdom. Noctis flourished under his rule and times were relatively peaceful. However, what made him capable of maintaining that peace in such a bloody world, or rather who, was Liliana.

Liliana was a Celestial spirit. The 2nd most powerful rank of spirits in the world. On top of that, she is the most powerful Celestial spirit. Reigning over all spirits in the world besides Gaia level spirits. Of which there are two, Cacumen and Pupillus. Her power was mostly unrivaled in the world. Such a powerful spirit being overtaken and turned into a Telum was an accomplishment that raised the 10th king to unheard of levels of strength for humans at the time.

Once the king agreed to Liliana's request for a chat, about a hundred men could be seen emerging from the deep shadows of the room and seemingly teleporting away as soon as they revealed themselves.

Liliana looks around as soon as she senses their presence.

"I see you were quite prepared for our meeting." She says.

"A king can never be too careful, especially with a powerful being such as yourself. Wouldn't you agree?" The king says.

Liliana smiles a bit, "You are a smart one."

Liliana and the king leave the damaged throne room to talk in an adjacent room.

A large beautifully crafted wooden table with chairs was in the center of the room.

The king slides a chair out for Liliana and signals her to sit.

Liliana sits down, as does the king. They begin talking and don't stop for quite a while.

They discuss many things. The state of Noctis in the present day, the current major events taking place in the world, and many other things. Finally, Liliana asks about what happened to Roman's family. Although Roman never outright told her, when she first bonded with him she was able to clearly hear his thoughts. All that was on his mind was the disappearance of his loved ones.

"Have you ever heard anything like that happening?" Liliana asks the king.

"Hm, no not here in Noctis. However, I think I have heard of someone doing something like that in Lanuae." The king responds.

"Lanuae? Is that a new kingdom?"

"Yes, it's only on its 3rd king and he is cited to be kind of a madman. He specializes in teleportation magic and has been reported for taking select groups of his people to his palace and never returning them. His power and his behavior makes me think it could possibly be him, however the strange conditions of your partners situation makes it hard for me to give a solid answer. Due to the location of his kingdom, it's very hard to get spy's over there for more information. It's the only reason why we haven't been able to get the Council to strip him of his power. He is the only person I can imagine doing something like that."

"Interesting." Liliana says while tapping her nails on the table.

They continue talking until midday.

Soon their talk starts to come to an end and they say their goodbyes.

"Thank you for the information King Evian. I am in your debt." Liliana says as she gets up from the chair.

"No worries Liliana, all of Noctis Kingdom is in yours." King Evian says with a smile. His tone is much more friendlier than before

Liliana smiles back as they walk back to the throne room and King Evian hands Liliana a crystal to teleport back to Sir Vaneer's home.

"Until next time madam." King Evian says as he bows one more time.

"Until next time." Liliana responds while crushing the green crystal and teleporting back to the front of Sir Vaneer's home.
