Chapter 7 - Polarity - To Noctis

I see Bale's eyes widen. So that's who she is. The 10th Telum of Noctis...The 10th part is new information.

"I apologize, Madam Liliana." Bale says with obvious fear in his voice.

"Take me and my user to Noctis at once, I wish to speak with the current king." I say, though really it's Liliana speaking. She speaks with such force, not anything like the way she speaks to me.

"When you rule over people you have to show your strength; or else people will mistake your kindness as a weakness." Liliana says to me as she hears my thoughts about her.

"I'm aware of the mistake that is too much kindness" I say to her. I think about my dad. His whole life his kindness was taken advantage of.

"Yes madam, please excuse my insolence. I apologize for not recognizing your presence." He says as he stands back up slowly, noticing that Liliana withdrew her energy.

"It's ok". Liliana says while smiling.

It's honestly impressive how quickly she can change tones

"I like to think of it as a talent" Liliana responds.

I forgot she released the restriction of our thoughts...

I hear her laugh echo in my mind, "Want me to turn it back off? Making it so I only hear what you want me to hear is something we can't do right now as we haven't been paired long enough."

"Yea, turn it off, also how long will it be until we can do that? It seems like it would be handy."

"It depends, but usually it takes a spirit around a month to adapt to it's new owner's mind effectively enough to do it.

I nod and feel the connection between our thoughts sever once again. I feel the same tingling sensation in my mind as when she severed the connection before. Do I have to go through that every time she does this?

I didn't notice everyone staring at me. Talking to Liliana kind of zones me out and I end up staring at something. That something, or rather someone, being Bale at this moment.

He looks visibly uncomfortable, "Um... Would you like me to take you to Noctis now? It won't take long with our spirit teleporter."

My eyes widen at the words spirit teleporter, what could he mean by that?

"Yes, thank you." I say with nervousness. After Liliana's intimidating show of strength, will they really submit to me like they did her?

'If your worrying about them fighting back now that your in control, don't. A spirit at my level is able to temporarily control its users body from the start of their bonding. At any moment I'm able to fight them and they know that, we are now one and that's how people view us.' Liliana says to me.

'I see.' I think back to her.

This whole system is confusing. At her level? So what are the levels to spirits? She must be near the top of these levels. Her strength is almost frightening.

During this whole time of thinking I didn't notice the awkward silence between me and Bale as we walked through the camp. As well as the stares from all the military personnel. After all, I did fight against one of their people. A strong one from what I assume, since no one but him came to defend the nurse I scared.

Although Bale seemed to immediately change his tone when speaking to me, many of the other people here kept a small amount of disdain in their eyes. I wonder why?

"We're here." I hear Bale suddenly say.

Without realizing it, I was inside of another tent. An old man wearing fancy blue robes with the same symbol I saw on the flags of the base greeted us. Behind him was a clear white ball perched upon a black stand.

"Hello, Sir Bale. We are taking this young man to Noctis?" The man asks. There was no disdain in his eyes. He seemingly respects us the same way Bale does. The different treatment we were receiving among these people was quite obvious.

"Yes. To the main castle. The 10th Telum of Noctis is inside of this boy and she requests to see the king." Bale says.

The old man's eye's widen, however, he asks no questions and turns around. He touches the white ball and the inside of it begins swirling, as if a liquid was formed inside. Suddenly, the liquid forms into a blurry image of a large castle on top of a hill surrounded by medieval buildings.

"If you will, touch the crystal ball and you will be transported to Noctis." The man says.

I nod and do as he says.

The ball is cold to the touch and extremely smooth. However, I don't get much time notice anything more as I feel my body tingle similar to how my foot feels when it falls asleep, until it reaches a peak and I feel my vision blur. Then, my mind goes blank for moment until suddenly, I am right where the crystal ball had pictured.
