Great another new skill I can't use yet. When trying to boost my stats through the level up selection I just get exp boosters so that can't be the answer, so what is? I can't get skills in galaxy very fast if I can't even find civilization. If I wander too far off I might lose all my worms, they might just be xp farms but they are still my only solid resource right now. Burrowing Spear seemed like an active skill maybe I could make it but aside from increasing my ability to stab stuff just below the surface idk if it'll be useful. There was also the skill to teach Leap so they can definitely learn it. What can I do? Nothing is working aside from my accelerated workout Regiment, my time has doubled and my progress is still stalled.
I'll try to learn the spear skill and teach the worms more, if they can grow to defend themselves from sandworms that'd be great. How can I get the skills I need to grow faster? irl I could practice some spear maneuvers but those are mostly for show, other than boosting my spear handling it'll be a waste. Can't go wrong with my reading endeavors, maybe I'll boost my intelligence enough that I get an extra point in galaxy. Why hasn't my fitness been reflected in my stats yet? I double check them, hmm got an extra point of endurance for my running skill, ok it's something.
Welp if I'm stuck at camp might as well improve my shack, half an hour later correcting now obvious mistakes it looks much better and sturdier. Actually with my improved materials and construction knowledge I should probably remake all my tools. A much more balanced and sturdy pair of axes and pickaxes are leaned against my shelter when I tuck in for bed.
Waking up in bed I wash up and jog to work, really need a new job. The day is uneventful although I constantly try to imagine how different tasks I perform could become skills. I carve a bamboo spear and stab the ground repeatedly trying to imagine what the burrowing Spear could be like, cycle through the first 3 steps of the 7 bo strikes for half an hour than headed home. Finished off my night with a couple more where's waldo books then go to sleep.
Waking up in my cot, I got up and dug up some breakfast, added the newly tamed pets to the pits, and started cutting down trees. With my firewood reserves fully overstocked within the hour I start dancing with my spear for half an hour before thrusting it into the ground with the turning/drilling motion 100 times. I give the worms and grubs some leaf spines, hoping they might learn something but they'll more likely just eat them. Eat a quick meal, place the new pets in the pit, then repeat my spear training.
*ding you acquired spear handling
Spear Handling: Lv 1: 0/97: Your grip on your spear is 1% firmer and your spear's hardness is 1% greater
Is this a dick joke? Please tell me this isn't just a dick joke! Does it need to be harder to penetrate the ground better!! I'm cluelessly trying everything to get better and you tell me a dick joke!!!
Either that or some kinda durability thing, idk good lord I did so much to get this let's level it up.
Spear Handling: Lv 10: Max: Your grip on your spear is 10% firmer, movement 1% faster, and your spear's hardness is 10% greater. Your endurance potential increases by 1.
My mind gets flooded with info about spear handling, shit I shouldn't have done this I'll forget most of it, one level at a time, dangit! Huh hardness isn't a dick joke, a firmer object will last better in a collision, so it's destruction and durability rolled in to one, sorta. It only works when I intend to strike interrupted strikes won't get this perk and blocking only will if I control how I block, so it's a passive that only works if I actively make it work. This is still pretty great I should be able to stab deeper and pull out easier with this. Damnit now I'm making dick jokes, starting to hate spears.
I do my spear training routine again with much greater ease, the holes might be twice as deep in some spots.
Actually now that I've gotten a greater grasp of spearmanship and I've gotten the system skills for spear crafting I wonder if I can make better spears, lemme double check my galaxy skills first.

Wait a minute, I never got a wood Carving skill!
Made a pair of flint knifes and got to work, I'll start by trying to carve wooden knives and worm carvings. Made a new training pit full of wood shavings. After i made a passable wooden knife and a.... very sad thing I ate a quick meal and went to bed.
After another bored day of work I went into the woods, got a few decently thick sticks, started carving one into a rough knife shape. Did my spear routine, then went to bed ready for the next game day.
