It's finally the day of homecoming and I can honestly say that I'm excited... Not because it's homecoming, but because it's my last one ever.
I walked into the gym with my best friends by my side. Most eyes were on us but we didn't have a care in the world. We were just here to have a good time. No one had a date except Ali since her and Adam are dating now.
Yep, you read that right. Apparently their date went pretty well and Adam asked her to be his girlfriend when he took her home. She told me he took her to Six Flags. I asked her if her feet were hurting since she wore heels, but she told me she slipped her Converse into her bag before she left. But overall, she said she had an amazing time and it was one of the best dates she'd ever been on.
While Ali went off with Adam, Mya, Miracle, Marcey, Liana and I stayed together.
"They did so much better setting this up than last year." Miracle said looking around... And she wasn't lying. Last year's theme was "Under The Sea", and I kid you not, there was about a handful of people who actually got sea sick... We weren't even on a boat!
"Aye man, enough with all this talking, it's time to turn up." Mya said setting down her drink. I laughed as she grabbed Liana, Marcey and Miracle by the hand dragged them to the dance floor. I stayed behind to finish my drink. Also, because I don't know how to dance.
I let my eyes wander around out gym. There's more people here this year and way more couples. As I'm looking around the gym, something catches my eye.
It's Kado and Destiny. I mean I can't say that I'm shocked because I'm not. Destiny is pretty, and I caught Kado staring at her when he saw her at lunch a couple of times this week.
I didn't realize I was staring that long until I saw Kado staring at me. I quickly looked away and took a sip of my drink, slightly hoping that he wouldn't come over. Especially with Destiny.
"Wassup Izzy." Damn it.
I slowly look up, "Oh hey, Kado." I smiled.
He ran his hand through his hair, "You clean up pretty good." I laugh and punch him lightly in the shoulder.
He flinched pretending that it hurt, "Damn, girl." He said laughing. I took that moment to look at what he has on.
He's wearing a white collared shirt with a dark blue jacket that had designs on it, and he paired that with light jeans and black dress shoes. I'm not gonna lie, he looks really good today too. And even though I have on heels, he's still taller than me.
"You done checking me out?"
I rolled my eyes, "Boy, I wasn't even doing that." I lied.
Kado laughed, "Yea ight.. I think I already said this, but you look really good tonight."
I felt my cheeks heat up, "Yea you already did, but thank you." I smiled.
Right when he was about to say something, I heard Destiny's voice behind me.
"Oh hey Izzy!" I turned around to see her and her crew. She examined my outfit, "I really like your dress. Where'd you get it from?" She smiled. Why is she being so nice?
"Thanks and Windsor."
"Isn't that the store that sells cheap dresses?" Chasity says, making Destiny laugh.
I tilted my head to the side and furrowed my eyebrows. I looked at Carter and saw her giving her the same look.
"I'm sorry, cheap?" I sit my cup down, "Nah honey, this dress cost more than both of y'all's outfits combined." My eyes wander to her outfit. She had on a black bralette and a light pink flowy skirt, that she probably got from Charlotte Russe with some plain black heels that she got from Payless. The only thing that's expensive on her is her clutch from Michael Kors... If it's even from Michael Kors.
Chasity rolled her eyes and Kado chuckled.
"You really don't think before you speak, do you Chas?" Carter asked laughing a little. Chasity huffed annoyance and stormed away with Destiny following behind her. "Yea, I'm sorry about her." Carter said turning to me.
"It's all good." I reassured her, "And I really like your dress." She had on a black, low v-cut bodycon dress that was cut out on both sides. She paired it with back booties and a black YSL clutch.
"Thanks, I got it from Windsor." She said smiling.
"Really? I was looking at something just like that, but I don't think I have the right shape for a dress like that."
"Haha, you actually have the perfect body for this dress."
"She's not lying." I turned to see Kado still standing there. I totally forgot he was here.
I laughed and turned back to Carter, "Lemme ask you something..." She nodded for me to continue, "Why do you hang with Destiny and Chasity? You're like the complete opposite of them."
Carter sighed and shrugged her shoulders, "Well freshman year, I didn't really have friends because I had just transferred in the middle of the school year. I met Destiny my first day and she was the sweetest girl ever, like I'm not even joking. It was actually Chasity who got Destiny how she is now."
I heard Kado gasp behind me, "Oh did she now?" I looked back, and I can't tell if he's actually interested in the story or he's just playing.
"Anyways, Chasity was the original 'Queen Bee' and Destiny and Chasity never really liked each other for some reason. But I remember they had to work on a couple of projects together, which brought them closer than ever. Me personally, I didn't like them together, but I just dealt with it because I wanted more friends. So eventually I became really cool with Chasity which is how we became friends. Over the past 3 years, I feel like Chasity has changed Destiny a lot. I don't know why she would think talking shit about people is cool but I don't like it." Carter shrugged her shoulders.
"So why are you still friends with them?" I ask.
"Because I have nobody else."
My face softens, "You have me, and the rest of the volleyball team. We may be always together, but we welcome everyone to our family."
A smile grew on Carter's face, "Thanks, I really appreciate it." She looked around and saw Destiny waving at her to come over, "I should get going. See you at practice."
I suddenly felt weight being lifted off my shoulders. Literally. I don't know why Kado put all his weight on me when he leaned on me, but now my shoulder hurt.
"Izzy!" My head snapped around and saw Ali and the rest of the girls, "Why were you talking to her?" Ali asked with an attitude.
"Damnnn, ain't that yo teammate?" Kado asked.
Ali rolled her eyes, "I don't give a shit. I don't like her at all."
"Why? She hasn't done anything to you." Liana spoke up.
"I just feel like she's up to something. Like no one should be that nice hanging with Destiny and Chasity." Ali explains.
"What if she's really a nice person? Y'know Ali, you really shouldn't judge people you don't know." Marcey says crossing her arms. I can tell she's getting irritated.
"Why don't y'all do them team bonding things?" Kado suggested.
Just as I was about to agree, Mya spoke up.
"Why are we even talking about this shit anyway? We're at homecoming, not practice." She grabbed my hand, "Now lets go turn up! This my song too!"
I laughed and followed along. I need to loosen up anyway.

Several songs and embarrassing dances later, homecoming was finally over; I even got a few dances with Kado, but it was nothing major. Minus the mini drama, this was probably the best homecoming that this school has ever thrown. My hair held up well too and my make up didn't smudge at all either. I just hope prom is this good.
I got home around 1 in the morning because we all went out to Hooters after homecoming. I slid off my dress and threw it in the hamper and threw my shoes in my closet. I dragged myself to the bathroom and took my makeup off and threw my hair in a bun.
I went back to my room and climbed into bed. I pulled out my phone and decided to text Rodney

My eyes are starting to get tired and I don't think I can hold them open anymore.

I plugged up my phone, set it on my table next to me and laid down. Before I knew it, I fell alseep.
