I woke up to my blanket being yanked off of me and my parents, Rodney, the rest of my volleyball team standing over me. I blinked a little and rolled back over.
"Ugh, what if I was naked." I mumble.
I heard Mya scoff and pull me up, "But you're not." She says smiling.
"And besides, IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY BETCH!" Kailah yelled throwing up confetti.
I felt a crown being put on my head and my mom came out with a homemade cake that had "Happy 18th Birthday Izzy!" on it. I laughed and dipped my finger in the icing.
"Damn Izzy. I was gonna eat that." Rodney whined.
"Shut up." I mumble. I look at the time on my phone and see that it's exactly 7 o'clock in the morning. I scrunch my face and look around, "Why am I up so early?"
"Because we're going to Six Flags." Liana said in a 'duh' tone.
"And we have to get there early, so we don't have to wait in that long line." Marcey spoke up.
"True. " I said finally getting out of bed, "Okay y'all gotta go so I can get dressed."
Once everyone was out, I checked my phone to see a bunch of birthday wishes from Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and even Facebook. I said my 'thank yous' and went to my messages to see two messages from Kado.

I figured he was still sleeping, so I didn't expect a respond anytime soon.
I made my way to the bathroom, did my hygiene, and decided to leave my hair in its natural curls, so Mya could braid it. I then washed my face, and did a natural beat for my makeup. I grabbed my carmex and lipgloss and left out the bathroom.
I went back to my room and pulled out my warm leggings, a white tank to with my PINK wind breaker over it, and my grey UGGs. I grabbed my purse, put my necessities in there, and went downstairs.
"Mya! You need to braid my hair!" I yelled as I walked down the stairs.
"Yea just wake up your whole neighborhood would you." Mya said chuckling. I shrugged, and handed her a comb, gel, and my scarf and sat down at the kitchen table.
Everyone was sitting around us eating my cake. I'm not eating anything now because I know when we get to Six Flags I'm gonna eat a lot. I felt Mya part my hair in the middle and begin braiding my hair.
"Mom are you guys coming too?" I asked.
"No, your dad and I are too old to be getting on those roller coasters, and I don't wanna waste my money just sitting around there."
"True, so is Rodney coming?"
"Hell yea I'm coming, I'm driving y'all asses too, so leave the cars too."
My mom glared at Rodney, "Language Rodney. You lucky it's 7 in the morning because I ain't scared to whoop yo ass."
Rodney raised his hands in surrender, "My bad Auntie C."
"Mhm." She mumbled as she walked away.
Mya was finally done with the first braid and she's moving on to the second one. I looked up and noticed Rodney staring at Mya as she braided my hair.
"Don't that shit hurt?" He asked me as Mya continued to braid my hair.
"Nope, I'm not tender-headed and she don't even braid that hard." Everyone nodded their head in agreement.
"You think she braid hard? Try going to the Africans. Them bitches be braiding yo scalp and edges." Carter says.
"Hell yea, you would be lucky if you even got edges once they done." Kai cut in.
Rodney shook his head, "Ion know how y'all do it."
We all laugh as Mya finishes with my braid and puts gel in my hair to lay my baby hairs. I grab my sarf and wrap it tightly around my hair.
I hop off the chair and grab my purse and phone.
"Y'all ready?" I ask.
"Been ready!" Marcey called out grabbing her jacket and heading to the car.
Rodney realized where she was going and quickly followed her out, "Aye! Don't touch my truck, I just got a fresh paint!" He nearly screamed.
I sighed and followed along with everyone else. I climbed in the passenger seat and everyone else, somehow, was able to fit in the back.
I plugged in my phone to the AUX cord and turned on Ultralight Beam by Kanye West.

"Omg I wanna get on the X-Flight first!" Marcey squealed.
Liana gasped, "Saame!" They said running to the entrance.
I laughed, and looked back at Mya to see that she was texting someone. She's been like this halfway through the ride, "You good?"
She quickly hid her phone and nodded her head, "Yea I'm fine." Her phone then vibrated. She immediately looked at it and smiled, "Turn around."
I look at her, and slowly turn around to see Kado walking towards me. A smile grew on my face as he walked closer. I met him halfway and embraced him in a hug.
He wrapped his arms around me, "Happy birthday." He mumbles into my hair. I felt myself start to tear up, and I sniffed. He let me go, and looked at me, "Awe man, do be cryin' on me now." He whined.
I sniffed again, "I'm sorry I'm super sensitive." I said wiping my eyes, "And because that was super cute." I chuckle. I look back at Mya and see her with the rest of the group already standing in line.
I point behind me, "Are you coming too?"
"Hell yea, I ain't drive all the way out here for nothing. " I rolled my eyes and grabbed his arm, "Well c'mon." I said pulling him towards the line.
We got to the line and Kado was greeting by everyone, except Rodney of course; all he did was glare. The wait to get into the park wasn't that long considering a lot of people was already here. Once we got into the park, we all grabbed a map and decided to split up since we wanted to go to different areas.
Mya, Rodney, Kado and I stayed together to go to the Southwest Territory since the Raging Bull and Giant Drop was in the same area. Marcey, Liana, Kailah, Carter and Miracle went to the County Fair to get on the newest ride, the Goliath and X-Flight.
"Just text me or whoever if y'all ready to eat or something." I say as they walk away. They waved me off, nodding as they made their way to the opposite direction.
Kado laughed, "You're like the mother of the team aren't you?"
"I dunno, I guess." I shrugged.
Mya scoffed, "Now, Izzy, you know you be acting like everybody's momma." She said laughing.
"It's a habit I guess."
"It's cute." Kado says, chuckling.
I blushed a little, but covered my face so that no one was able to see it.
Rodney stopped in his tracks and slowly turned around. I looked at Mya and she looked just as confused as me.
He walked toward Kado and pulled him to the side, "Lemme talk to you for a second." Kado looked confused, but followed Rodney anyway.
Mya and I shrugged and continued towards the Giant Drop. I pulled out my phone and went to Snapchat. I pressed the record button and smiled, then faced the camera towards Mya. She looked lost, but quickly recovered and started smiling
"It's her birthday biiitcchh. And we at Six Flags! Turn Up!" She stuck her tongue out and turned around and started twerking.
"Ayee, ayee, ayee!" I cheered her on. I laughed as the video ended. I added the birthday cake emoji and added it to my snap. I began getting views seconds after posting it; I even got a few more happy birthdays.
Right when we were about to get in line for the Giant Drop, Rodney and Kado came running back to us. I took a quick peak at Kado, but he looked perfectly fine.
Usually when boys would try to talk to me, Rodney would always interfere before anything could go any further. And most of the time, the boys would always stop talking to me. I got used to it after a while, but it still gets irritating.
I nudged Kado in his side, "What did he talk to you about?"
He shrugged, "Nothing major, just that if I ever hurt you, he won't be scared to use his gun." My eyes widened.
"How is that nothing?"
"I've dealt with older brothers before, so it doesn't bother me that much."
"1. He's my cousin, and 2. he's in the military, so he's pretty serious." All Kado did was shrug.
"Could you move up please!" Some girl said with an attitude. I turned my head and glared at the girl who looked to be around my age before walking up closer to Mya and Rodney. I heard Kado laugh, so I flipped him off as well.
I felt a strong breeze hit the side of my face, making me shiver and pull my jacket further down my arms. I peaked in front of Rodney and saw that we were part of the next people to get on the ride. I did a little dance in excitement because I really love this ride.
"Is this all of your hair?" Kado asks as he plays with my braids.
I laugh, "Yup."
"Damn. I've never met a black girl with long hair."
"Really?"
"Most girls in Indiana wore weave."
I look at him sideways, "I wear weave, Kado."
"For what, you don't even need it."
"It's a protective style. Most girls wear weave so they won't damage their real hair." I explain, "So if they wanna dye their hair a crazy color, they use weave."
Kado shook his head still unconvinced, "Hell naw. Ion know what them girls be protecting because ain't nothing under that weave but some crusty ass things they call hair."
I burst out laughing, "Kado that's so mean."
He shrugs, "But it's the truth."
"Okay, but they might actually want to grow their hair out."
He shook his head again, "I don't be seeing no difference."
"Because it takes time."
He rolled his eyes, "Man whatever."
I laughed again, "You're a mess." I say as I turn around.
It was finally our turn to get on the ride. I grabbed Kado and skipped to the entrance. I chose a seat where you couldn't see the people standing in line, but only the people walking by. Mya and Rodney were on the other side. After I strapped myself in, I looked over at Kado. I laughed when I saw that he looked scared as hell.
"The hell you laughing at?"
I laughed even harder, "You! This ride isn't even scary."
He looked at me skeptically, "You probably just saying that."
"No I'm serious. It's over pretty quick too."
"You better be right. If you lying, as soon as I get off this ride, I'm beating yo ass."
I rolled my eyes and laughed. I looked around, wondering when they were gonna start the ride. I then saw the workers coming around checking to make sure that were all in correctly. Once they were done, I heard one of them come on to the enacom basically telling us to enjoy the ride.
I heard the buzzer, and then we started going up. As we got higher, I was able to see over the entire park, including the parking lot. I felt a hand grab mine, and I looked to see Kado with his eyes shut tightly. Once we stopped, I poked him.
"Open your eyes."
He opens them slowly, but once he got a good look he stared at the sight in awe. I heard a small beep coming from the top of the ride meaning that they were about to release us. I laughed a little making Kado look at me funny. Right when he was about to say something, I heard the click and we started falling.
I felt my stomach drop and the cold wind in my face as we were falling. I squeezed my eyes shut. Believe it or not I'm scared of heights, but when it comes to roller coasters or other high rides, I don't get that scared. I started laughing when I heard Kado screaming like a little girl.
When we finally got to the bottom, Kado was trying to catch his breath. Once he calmed down he looked at me, "You know I'm beating your ass right?"
"For what? I didn't even do anything." We're still sitting, and we aren't able to undo our seat belts just yet.
"Because that ride was scary as shit."
I chuckle, "If you think this is scary, wait until you get on the Goliath." finally heard the clicks, and I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt and ran over the Rodney and Mya. I heard him coming after me, so as soon as I found Rodney, I grabbed him and blocked me from Kado.
"Help me!" I whined.
I must have caught Rodney off guard because he jumped really hard, "Damn girl, you good?"
"Noo! Kado said he was gonna beat my ass."
Rodney turned his head towards Kado and mugged him, " Whose ass you gon beat?"
Kado threw up his hands in surrender, "Man I was just playing with her." He actually sounded scared.
I looked behind me and Mya was recording the whole thing on Snapchat. I jumped in front of her camera.
"Add me on the snap @ Iz_thekid, and y'all better wish me a happy birthday." I smile and turn back around.
"Look man I'm sorry, I was just playing." Kado was still trying to talk to Rodney.
Rodney stared at Kado for a moment, and busted out laughing. Mya and I joined him too.
"I'm just fucking with you dude." Rodney said, slapping Kado on his shoulder.
Kado sighed in relief and fixed his shirt, "Yea I knew that." I started laughing again as I watched him trying to calm himself down.
We finally left from the Giant Drop and now we're going to get on the Raging Bull. This is Mya's favorite ride since its the smoothest roller coasters at the park. I've only gotten in this ride at least 3 times because the lines are always long. You would think that everyone would be at the new ride, The Goliath, but nope. Everyone was here.
Once we got to the ride, the line wasn't even near the end. Mya took off running, and I followed leaving Rodney and Kado.
We ran in what seemed like a zigzagging pattern before we saw people standing in line. Mya was jumping up and down.
"Ugh, how long is the line?" She asked becoming frustrated.
I stood on my tippy toes and saw that we were nearing the stairs to go up to the ride.
"We're pretty close, but we still have to walk up the stairs."
"Okay good because I'm tired of these lines already."
I laughed at her and pulled out my phone when I heard it ding. It was just a message from Rodney saying that him and Kado were staying back. I replied with an 'okay' and went to Twitter.
I started replying, retweeting, and favoriting that I was mentioned in. Some people asking why they weren't invited to Six Flags and others were 'happy birthdays'.
As I was scrolling through my feed I saw a tweet from Ali that caught my eye.
@itss_ali - i would say happy birthday, but the bitch didnt even invite me to six flags w/ her ... some friend
I rolled my eyes and quoted the tweet.
@izz_thegreat - @ me 😊 & watch yourself w/ that b-word hoe.
I sighed and shoved my phone in Mya's face, showing her the tweet. After reading it, she smacked her lips and snatched the phone out of my hand. I watched her as she was about to start typing something, but stopped.
"I forgot this wasn't my phone." She said laughing and went back to hers.
When she was done typing out her tweet she gave me her phone. She also quoted the tweet.

I busted out laughing as I read the tweet. I retweeted and favorited from my phone and put it back in my pocket. I'll deal with Ali and the rest of her shit later on.
As we moved closer, I looked at and saw the roller coaster ride past as it fell from it's highest point. I started to feel butterflies in my stomach as I grew nervous. This always happens before getting on a big ride, but it goes away right before I get on.
"Oh yea, what are we doing after all of this?" She said turning to me.
"My mom wants us to leave around 5, so her and my dad can take us out to dinner at 7."
"Where we going?"
"Texas De Brazil, I think. Don't quote me on it though."
"Shiid, I don't care as long as I get to dress up. I'm wearing that dress I bought from BooHoo and never wore."
"Finally. I was thinking of wearing it if you weren't going to."
"Girl boom. I just needed a place to wear it. And besides it makes it look like I got a big butt."
I laugh, "Because you do."
When we finally got to the front and I made my way to the very front of the ride while Mya sat in the middle. It's weird, I'm terrified of heights but I can sit in the very front of a roller coaster.
Once the attendant was done checking for seat belts, they counted down and started the ride. We took off slow since we were going up. The lady next to me was already screaming and we didn't even make it to the very top yet.
I rolled my eye and turned my attention to the view that I was beginning to see. I could see almost everything, but that Goliath ride was blocking some things.
Once I realized we were at the top, I held on the handles tightly as I felt coaster make it's first small dip, then the actual big one. My stomach dropped more and more the faster we went down. I let out a scream and raised my hands, enjoying the adrenaline this ride gave me.
We made a couple more big dips and turns before the ride was over. The lady next to me was breathing hard, probably hyperventilating, but I don't care. This ride doesn't do much for her to be doing all of that.
When the coaster rolled up to the front and came to a complete stop, I unbuckled my seatbelt and turned to leave, but the lady was still standing there. Growing irritated, I rolled my eyes and nudged her.
"Can you go? Other people have to get on this ride." She huffed and stomped away, "Childish." I mumble stepping onto the platform. Mya was already waiting for me with an irritated look on her face.
"I swear I hate kids. Actually, I hate white people's kids because they ass don't know how to teach their kids some damn manners."
"Damn, what happened?" I ask, as we walk down the stairs.
"This little boy stepped on my shoe coming trying to sit next to his mom or whatever, and I said 'excuse you, you just stepped on my shoe.' And the boy looked at me and said, 'so?'" She woo-sa to calm herself down, "Girl I don't think you realize how hard it was not to slap the dog spit outta that boy." I looked down at her shoes and saw a footprint on her white G-Fazos. Hell I don't blame her for feeling that way.
"Just ask Rodney, you know that boy know everything about shoes." Mya nodded and went straight to him to complain about the little boy.
"Damn who did that to Mya's shoes?" Kado asks once I got over to him.
"Some kid stepped on them."
"Is she gonna get them fixed?"
I nod my head, "Yea, Rodney is gonna clean em."
My phone dinged and I saw a text from Carter.

well since yall by the food we can meet over there.

I laughed and shoved my phone back in my pocket.
"We're going where Carter, Kailah, and the rest of them are to eat." I said and Rodney scrunched his face up.
"Why we gotta go all the way over there when there's stuff to eat over here?" He complained.
"Because they have more options for food." I say.
"Man-"
"Boy would you shut up and come on, I'm hungry." Mya snapped at Rodney.
He smacked his lips and followed us to Country Fair.
Once we got over there, they were already waiting for us.
We immediately went to Maw & Paw's since their line wasn't that long. Everyone either got chicken fingers, hot dogs, or hamburgers except me.
"Are you not hungry?" Kado asks.
I look down at my order of fries that I got and shook my head no.
"She's fine. She just doesn't eat a lot." Marcey explained.
"Why you think she so skinny?" Miracle cut in.
I chuckle and continue to eat my fries.
My phone dinged again and it was another Twitter notification. I thought it was someone just saying happy birthday, but it was Destiny.

I rolled my eyes. It had a retweet and favorite from Ali and a retweet from Chasity. I closed out of Twitter and put my phone down, growing tired of their childishness.
"Bruh, they starting shit again." Mya said showing everyone Destiny's tweet.
Kailah chuckled, "These hoes must want their asses beat." She said pulling out her phone.
Before she could type anything, Marcey stopped her.
"Look before you saying something stupid, don't forget there are coaches watching our every move when it comes to social media. Don't risk your chance of a scholarship because of something these girls say." Marcey preached.
Kailah thought for a second and put her phone down, "If it wasn't for the love I have for volleyball, her ass would be grass." She said and continued to eat her hot dog.
"Who is she?" Kado asks.
"Destiny. For some reason she has it out for us, especially Izzy." Liana explains.
"What she look like? She go to our school?" He asks.
I pull out my phone and go to her Instagram.
"Ohh heerr." He said when he looked at her, "Didn't y'all get into it at homecoming too?" I nodded my head and rolled my eyes. I'm getting irritated just thinking about the situation.
"Man that hoe dirty as fuck." Rodney cut in, "Her and her friend. Chase? Whatever the fuck her name is."
As much as I wanted to correct him, I knew he still wouldn't care.
We continued to eat and talk here and there until we were finished. By the time we were finished, it was already 3 o'clock. We needed to start heading back soon, so se can get ready for the second half of my birthday.
We decided our last two rides was going to be the American Eagle and the V2. The lines weren't that long and I was glad because I was kind of ready to go.
I looked at the clock on my phone and it was reaching 4 o'clock, and my mom had sent me a text saying that it was time to coming back.
"Guys, we have to get going." I say catching everyone's attention.
Marcey groaned, "But I really wanted to get on the Goliath." She whined.
I patted her shoulder, "There's always next summer." I say.
We head to the car and we stuff ourselves into Rodney's truck. Once Rodney was on the road, Miracle spoke up.
"You know who we haven't spoken to in a minute?" She asks. We all shake our head waiting for her to continue, "Nathan. Whatever happened to him?"
I shrugged a long with everyone else, while Kailah just looked confused.
"He probably hanging with Aaron."
"Well damn, if Aaron more important than his friends then fuck him." Mya said.
"True, but when we get back to school we can talk to him." I suggest and everyone agrees.

We finally get home around 5 almost 6, which gave us a good amount of time to get ready. The girls were all in my room, while Kado and Rodney was in the guest room.
We had our makeup set up and hair supplies already plugged in.
Not wanting to risk messing up my hair or makeup, I decided to get dressed first. I went to my closet and pulled out my black, knee-length bodycon dress. I paired it with some gold rings and my stud earrings. I went to my vanity and began flat ironing my hair pin straight. I parted it in the middle and put it in a low ponytail. For makeup I did a black smokey-eye with a nude lip
Mya was dressed in a tan and black bodycon dress with black heels. She curled her hair in loose waves and she had did black smoky eye with a neutral lip for her makeup.
Miracle had on a colorful, tribal print, bodycon dress with no sleeves. Her hair was also curled in loose waves and her shoes her royal blue and fuschia. She rocked a natural makeup look.
Kailah had on a black bustier with a neon green bodycon skirt and a black leather jacket. Her hair was straightened and her makeup was light, eith red lips.
Liana had on a gray, bodycon, spaghetti strap dress. Her hair was curled in loose waves and her makeup was light with a bright pink lip.
Carter had on a navy blue, spaghetti strap dress and nude shows. Her hair was culred in loose waves and her make was was light.
And Marcey had on a black and gold, long sleeve dress that she paired with a black leather jacket abd black strappy heels. Her hair was left naturally straight and she had light makeup with a red lip.
Once we were all ready, Kado and Rodney were already waiting for us in the family room.
Rodney was wearing a black shirt, black jeans and shoes with a black and white bomber jacket. While Kado had on an olive green sweater with a plaid shirt underneath, blue jeans, and his Timbs.
"Finally." Rodney said as him and Kado stood up.
Rodney went over to Mya and twirled her around before pecking her forehead. He mumbled something in her ear and she started blushing.
Once we stepped outside, there was a stretch limo was waiting outside for us. My mom and dad came down right after we opened the door.
"Okay y'all lets take a picture!" My mom sajd as she handed her camera to the limo driver.
Everyone made their way in front of the limo and I squeezed my way in the middle. The driver counted to three and I saw the flash go off at least 5 times. The driver handed the camera back to my mom and she looked through the pictures.
"Oh these came out nice!" My moms squealed as she got in the limo. We all climbed in after and found a spot. I sat in between Carter and Kado.
"Where are we going again?" I looked over at my parents waiting for an answer.
"Texas de Brazil." My dad answered and went back to playing Candy Crush on his phone.
"I've never been there, is the food good?" Liana asks.
"Oh yea, the food is amazing." My mom said smiling.
The ride to the restaurant wasn't long at all. When we got out we were greeted by one of the greeters who was already standing outside. There was a line already formed, but the greeter led us inside.
He led us in a private room that was already decorated for me and it had my 18th birthday cake sitting on a different table. The theme was Chanel inspired and it had came out better than I expected.
There was a little too many seats so we had nobody sitting on the end. Once we got settled, the waiter came by and took our orders. Liana, Marcey and I got chicken alfredo while everyone else got steak.
As soon as our drinks came, my mom clinked her drink to get everyone's attention.
"Okay before we get started with everything, I want everyone to go around and say how you met Izzy and how she's impacted your life. Or something along the lines of that." She put down her drink and turned to Rodney, "Starting with you."
He smirked and put down his drink, "Ight. If y'all don't know, Izzy is my cousin-
"Favorite cousin." I interject smiling.
He rolled his eyes playfully and continued, "Favorite cousin, and without you I wouldn't be where I am today. See when I was a junior in high school, both of my parents died in a car accident by a drunk truck driver. I was a straight A student up until then.
I pretty much stopped caring, and at my parents funeral, Izzy came up to and told me that if I didn't get my shit together I would end up like one of them niggas on the street. After that she asked me if I had any plans for college and since I bombed my ACT and barely passed my classes, college was not an option.
She then told me that I could go to the military and they could help me get to college if I wanted to go in the future. And I am. After I finish this year up I'll be attending University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
So basically because of her little speech, I was able to find the little motivation that I had left, thanks to Izzy." I smiled as my eyes started watering, but I managed to blink them back because there was still more people to go.
Next was Mya. She smiled wide and stood up.
"Okay, I met Izzy sophomore year during volleyball tryouts. I'm not even gonna lie, when I first say her I didn't care to be her friend because I wasn't trying to make new friends. But when she 6-packed Destiny that was the funniest thing I had ever seen."
I busted out laughing just thinking about it, "Anyways, that wasn't what made me want to be her friend. We were actually at the Chicago Jrs. tryouts and I was having doubts about not making the A team. And she basic told me that you have to show that you want it better than the next person. Ya know, stand out, and that's what I did. So I guess you can say she helped me regain my confidence."
After she sat down, everyone continued to say their speeches until the food came .
My mom was right, the food was amazing and I had a great time with everyone who came. No one really touched the cake since we were all full but everyone was taking a piece home with them.
Overall my birthday was great minus the Twitter situation at Six Flags. I just hope everything remains like it is now.
